Great location, in the Tibetian quarter, we could just walk to the local sights and soak in the local culture and experience Tibetian way of life. Rooms were adequate, I would ask for more than one room heater in the winter. Communication in English with the receptionist was sometimes a little tricky, and bathrooms could do with better ventilation. Breakfast...

We opted to experience the "real" Tibet and this hotel does exactly that. The room we had on the fourth floor was filled with artifacts like a yak butter churn. There were two bathrobes, slippers, tooth brushes, hair dryers etc. just like modern hotels. Plenty of hot water and a fantastic view of the Potala Place. Took pictures of the...

Located directly in the city center. Must walk with your luggage from the main as cars cannot drive to hotel. Great location to walk to Jokhang Temple, the street market and shopping. Cool vibe and funky colors of traditional Tibet style accommodations in the guestrooms. Reminded me of a throwback to the 1960s in the USA with beads hanging from...

- historic hotel with rooms with very nice and typical decoration, cushions, carpet etc... in a dead-end in the middle of the old city - rooftop patio - you may get lost in the old city but after 2-3 times you'll find your way back - good foreigner-oriented breakfast (pan fried eggs, toast + jam, yogurt . . ) -...

I heartily disagree with the reviewers who give Shambhala 1-2 stars. It's an authentic hotel with rooms tastefully decorated in colorful Tibetan style. It's located in the heart of old town Lhasa, yes, and the rooms can only be accessed via stairs, but we had absolutely no issues with this. The hotel staff are exceedingly kind, and even went out...

At Shambala Palace we felt we are truly are in Tibet. When entering you feel you are in Shambala! The staff was very welcoming, always helpfull and spoke good english. The room was booked by our tour company (Adventures in Tibet which were fantastic) and were very pleased staying in authentic Tibetian environment. Its a boutique hotel with very personal...

We expected the worst after reading the reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. Our room on the second floor was very comfortable. We liked the Tibetan flair of the furniture, lights and wall design. We usually prefer to stay at chain hotels because you know what to expect. But this hotel convinced us with its homely atmosphere. In addition, a lot...

You want to love this funky place, but it’s hard. The location is good: a quiet neighborhood near the Barkhor and the Muslim Quarter; but the surrounding streets are too narrow for taxis, so you may find yourself hiking back and forth to Beijingtong Rd for a ride. The building is charming: an old 4-storey place with traditional Tibetan decor;...

Not everyone wants a more authentic experience when visiting a foreign country. Many want the security of a western hotel/restaurants, etc to come back to after touring more unusual or exotic places. This is not me. I would have loved to have toured the world years ago before Starbucks and McDonalds invaded. However, as that was not possible, I like...

The hotel is listed as 4 star although it should be more like 1-2 star. Located deep deep within the old town, it had to be accessed via a quiet lane with smelly drains, which makes getting out and back on a daily basis a little unpleasant. The hotel is quite charming as it is converted from an old house,...

Dear Clients, Tashi Delek!!! We have seen both good and bad/very bad review regarding from our previous clients and we do think all of them both good and bad are true. I personally felt part of the dissatisfaction of our clients was because most clients do not tell us the the problem during their stay with us. Most of the...
