We really liked this hotel for its location in the Old Town and the great welcome from the guy on reception. The rooms are comfortable and are traditionally decorated. Breakfast is OK but the roof top restaurant is good.

We spent a total of five nights at this hotel, was our first choice from reading reviews on here plus our tour agency recommended it. Rooms were designed and decorated in traditional Tibetan style. Rooms were en-suite with hot water. Portable radiators were provided as it gets very cold at night across Tibet. Staff were all helpful. Free wifi in... More

Highly recommend this beautiful hotel in the old section of Lhasa, close to all the sights. Great staff, amazing rooms all beautifully decorated in Tibetan style. Atmospheric and authentic. Very welcoming and homey, with great amenities. We had a fantastic time.

Love this hotel! The staff are awesome, very kind and warm. The rooms are very authentic yet have all modern comforts. Location is awesome. Restaurant is top notch. A very unique experience which I hope to repeat in the future.

We stayed in the Meditation and Yoga Rooms at the House of Shambala for 7 nights at three different occasions. Returning to the hotel was always like returning to our home (base). The house of a former high lama offered simple but very atmospheric accommodations just minutes from the famous Barkhor Kora in the old part of Lhasa. The apartment-like... More

Located near old town and Jokang Temple, on a very small street, pedestrian street, tried hard to please, catered to western travelers, clean rooms, good restaurant, certainly not a chain hotel, would go back again,

I can understand that this hotel is not for everyone but for me it was like staying in a little museum. Unfortunately, the spa is closed and I don't know if this is permanent. But I had 3 very restful nights there and the staff was very cheerful and helpful. The restaurant had delicious food. My only snafu was arriving... More

We stayed there for 3 nights. It is a nice tibetan hotel. The rooms are colorful and equipped with original tibetan furniture. It is convenient located on the very city center of the old town. Some notes: step stairs, room doors don't close fully so you hear people from outside (you can lock them of course), can get cold in... More

We travelled in Tibet for nearly 3 weeks and used Lhasa as our base. We spent several nights in House of Shambala and found it very pleasant. Rooms a beautifully decorated, the rooftop terrace is great! Showers are ok, hard to adjust, but fine. Breakfast could be much better. They serve exactly the same each day: yoghurt, fruit, muesli, steamed... More

Our stay at HOS was very pleasant indeed, the staff are extremely friendly, speak a decent amount of English and are able to accommodate to most needs. The hotel itself was clean, and provided all the essentials, including a good Wi-Fi connection. Although breakfast was slightly short on choice, there was the option of a fry up every morning, muesli,... More
