Detailed Reviews
We spent almost two weeks at the BWP in Sai Ying Pun. We chose that hotel because among the other hotels in its price category, it had relatively larger rooms and more space was important to us. It filled that expectation very well -- we were quite comfortable there. The room was serviced daily and the housekeeping staff was very helpful. The neighborhood is very "old Hong Kong" with lots of small shops and eateries; we enjoyed that a lot. The windows were double-glazed which was important in filtering out some of the traffic noise from Des Voeux Rd. West. (The rumblings of the tram passing were noticeable, but we are used to Hong Kong sounds and it didn't bother us.) It was a 10-minute walk through long tunnels to the MTR platforms. One great amenity for us was the presence of a laundromat room for guests -- we could wash and dry our clothes and the machines provided their own soap, so we didn't need to buy that. The fitness center didn't have much equipment at all.
Note: if you are considering a long-term stay (more than a week), try calling the hotel directly to book. As we discovered after arrival, they offer advantageous long-stay rates.

Good location with buses and especially trams stopping in front of the hotel, 70 meters away at the Water street stop are the A10-A12 and NA12 buses which take you to the airport in 40 minutes for just HK$80. Friendly and helpful staff, large rooms with slightly old-fashioned furniture, badly arranged electrical sockets and not all of them working. The bathroom needs a good refresh. Breakfast absolutely insufficient for 65HK$ but there are Starbucks and bakery/pastry shop 50 meters away. Competitive prices

This hotel is an older style “dated” hotel which needs to be upgraded. In my opinion it’s really a budget end 3 star hotel much previously liked by mainland Chinese tourists. What killed most similar Hong Kong Hotel rates was they have priced themselves out of the market. These geographic tourists now stay at more modern and cheaper hotels at Cities nearer to the border with Hong Kong then they bus or take the train daily into Hong Kong saving themselves a great deal of money. But, I digress. The rooms in this Best Western franchised hotel are very big compared to the much smaller rooms in more modern hotels. At the time of posting this review, we have stayed twice at this hotel over a 4 week period as, we went to South Korea for 5 days during this time. The cleanliness of our room during our first stay was excellent. It was on the 22nd floor. Now we are staying on the 28th floor and the cleaning standard is at best poor. More often only the towels are changed and bathroom superficially cleaned. Not even the carpets were vacuum cleaned. The receptionist staff did their jobs but, did not seem bubbly or friendly as in higher class hotels. They were not interested in small talk, just “did their jobs”. The hotel is very conveniently located and easily to get to from the airport. I recommend taking the A10 or A12 bus too or from the airport. Their is a tramway directly in front of the hotel which is a great way to travel through Hong Kong island on and only HK$3 (thats right three HK dollars only) per trip. On a rainy day a great ride to North Point and back for example. Yes, I would recommend this hotel even given what I have stated above supported by photos I may add. However, a warning to this hotels management. The Best Western Group has sold you a franchise. Their valuable name and reputation is paramount for that group as it is indeed too for its loyal customers. It is critical you maintain good hotel standards and management to avoid bad reviews being posted online. After all, guest DO have a choice where they book.

Easy to get to from the airport as the local bus stops very close to the hotel, a much cheaper option than the express train. On arrival we found the lady at the reception desk quite grumpy and not very welcoming, just going through the montions: passport, credit card, room cards issued without a smile or eye contact. The room and the bathroom were cleaned but looked dated and in need of TLC but it was adequate for our needs of a place to stay and a shower while visiting Hong Kong. Plenty of restaurants in the area and well connected to the airport and other parts of the city by bus, tram and the metro all at walking distance from the hotel. Unfortunately I don't think we would stay here again on future visits to Hong Kong as there are a lot of other options at similar price but for convenience and a no frills experience this hotel would be good for budget conscious travellers.

Staff is courteous & helpful, location is good, Ding2 tram ( water street station) is just right in front of the hotel, plenty of food nearby, the dried seafood street is just a short walk away. The only set back- the hotel is old, my room smells mouldy, i think it’s on ongoing issue with the building that’s why they have dehumidifiers placed in the rooms and around corridor lobbies. Price is reasonable considering HK hotels are quite pricey, rooms are big and come with all essential amenities: toothbrush, hairdryer, safe, fringe, slippers, toiletries. If you can bear with the moldy smell, it’s value for money.

This is the most unwelcoming hotel I have ever come across. The word hospitality is unknown in this hotel.
Grumpy staff, who look disgruntled, at the reception makes you instantly feel that you've made the wrong choice.
The rooms are really dated and in need for an urgent upgrade.
The concierge at the hotel is way better than the reception staff and he actually helped us get a taxi on the street.
The check out was also done with only 2 words.. ' check-out' & 'keys'. Again by another grumpy staff who lacked basic courtesy and did not even say a good bye.
Such unfriendly and rude staff at the reception really make your stay unpleasant.
We were honestly glad to check out of the hotel, thanks to the unwelcoming attitude of the staff.
We do understand that the staff is not very fluent in English and there is a language barrier, but having a smile on the face and being pleasant with guests is beyond language barriers.
The hotel staff really need an intensive course in customer services and the facilities need an urgent upgrade .
This hotel really tarnishes the image of the Best Western Brand .

We booked & paid for a superior twin room which is bigger than a non superior twin room and it was supposed to have a sea view. Instead we were given the ordinary twin room with a view of other buildings, definitely not a sea view. On confronting the manager, we were told we've been upgraded when in reality we've been downgraded. Just one look at the floor plan confirms her dishonesty ! The food is definitely not great & it is cold. The decor is dated & there's only 1 chair between the 2 of us. Wifi is slow & the cleanliness is much to be desired as I found some strands of hair about. The sink plug is not working & the extractor fan also not working. I was told that it is working, it's just that it is very quiet! I don't think so & there's nothing we can do because of this draconian 21 day isolation for covid 19.

I have so far spent 10 days of my 17-day quarantine period in this hotel (spent 4 days at the Government Penny's Bay Centre prior). My room is quite spacious and I particularly liked the high ceiling, which allows me some limited exercise, such as rope skipping. I also like the storage space here and the washroom is decent. There are minor issues though, such as small 27" TV, fridge not cold enough to make ice, and laggy WiFi. While I am quite pleased with the room for the price, I have to point out the food they served has been substandard with very starchy batter and sauces, and resembles the lower quality Dai Pai Dong (street stall) food in Hong Kong. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel if space is your main thing, but be ready to factor in the cost for food delivery order.

It is a classic hotel, but with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Spacious rooms, clean, no noise, with good bathroom. The area is quiet and at 10 pm it goes out. It has good shuttle service to all HK including the a bus that passes 1 block until 2 am, later even than the MTR and with airport service.
The regular: The wi-fi is poor, the restaurant is very basic. Elevators become quite congested at peak times.

I stayed in the Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong for 14-day quarantine recently. I got free room upgrade. The room was dated but clean, bathroom set up was convenient. Staff in reservations, reception, concierge, food delivery teams were terrific. They're helpful, responsive and provide excellent customer services. Given the room cost, I am very satified with their services, location, view and cleanliness. Stuffs sent to me were delivered outside my room within 2 mins, the longest time they took was 5 mins.
I can hardly find anything to compliain except that their chicken in meals had no taste at all. But others like fish and breakfast were better than I expected. It's understandable that nobody enjoys quarantine life but the hotel staff had coloured my days during the period. Highly recommended it to my friends who have the need, will continue to do so. Will definitely choose the hotel again. As a matter of fact, I have made the reservation. Looking forward to experiencing their excellent services again.

Hi Aschaffenburg, Germany,
you must be landing at the airport, take the Airport express ,(buy tickets at the MTR counter @airport lower level), takes 30 minutes to the Central Station. At the Central, the airport express provides free shuttle as an extension to Best Western Plus hotel, bus # H2. Shuttle will call out each stop, you can get off at stop #5, (also the stop for Courtyard Marriott ) be careful as there is also a stop for Best Western hotel (without the PLUS). Also, you can get group tickets for airport express fare, check the writing before you buy, 4 one way tickets cost 250.00, when one single ticket cost about 80.00. Hope it helps, enjoy ur trip.
