Location was great, one block from airport bus, subway, supermarket and a nice park. That said, the beds were ridiculously hard and I didn't sleep well here. I'm pretty sure they just have a box spring and no mattress. The room is small but has all you need. TV gets 5 chinese only channels. There is one computer to share...

I stayed at the above hostel from 31st of October until the 5th of Nov 2007. Whilst booking the accommodation through a website we had to put down a time that we would be approximately be checking in. My friend and I thought 18:00. We turned up exactly on time. We just managed to get ourselves and our luggage in...

This has got to be the worst hostel i have ever stayed in. Got there in November, even though we had reserved rooms a month beforehand, i thought we would get a room inside the building itself, but after checking it, i found out that our room was in another building on a completely different street. The room was so...

I used to always stay at the Wang Fat Hostel and overlook its shortcomings because of the great location of the hostel. But, after my latest stay, I don't think I will be staying there again. Wang Fat has done great business the past few years, probably because of its high recommendation in an edition of the Lonely Planet travel...

Have you ever left your room and then returned a few hours later to find it has been rented to someone else? No? Book here. The staff here ripped us off. TWICE! We made the mistake of paying in advance because they promise advanced paid bookings get access to "Priority" rooms. WRONG. Yes, the room was tiny and the floor...

Some rooms are terrible, and others passable. You won't find a better location, but you will likely find a nicer hostel if you keep looking. Whatever you do, don't pay anything without seeing the room first. Check that it has a window. That it has a proper lock on the door. That the A/C works. That the TV works (mine...

I stayed in the Hong Kong Hostel at 47 Paterson twice -- the first time while heading into China, the second time while heading out of China. Accomodations on Hong Kong Island are expensive, so the Hostel is an inexpensive way to stay close to the center of town. (1) Neighborhood The hostel is located in Causeway Bay. The streets...

We stayed at Wang Fat Hostel (in Causeway Bay) last week and wanted to share our experience. Our room was small, drab and windowless. which I hear is not unusual in Hong Kong in that price range. The staff is not very friendly or helpful. Some people have complained that they were turned away even though they had a confirmed...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
