I stayed at The Empire Hotel Wan Chai for 2 nights with a few colleagues while returning from a conference. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the Wan Chai metro station, and very conveniently located. The staff is courteous and the breakfast spread decent. The rooms while small, are par for Hong Kong. There is a shuttle...

The hotel is close to Hong Kong Convention Centre and Wan Chai MTR Station. The hotel had been renovated so the decoration is quite new. There are also various restaurants both Chinese and international.

Perfect spot to stay. Connected to a major business centre and walking distance to MTR, restaurants, street food, and very comfortable! Many choice for dining around the hotel. Japanese, Chinese or steakhouse also is easy to find around the hotel. We had a room with one queen bed and there was a big room for us. Helpful and sweet staff...

Well located in Wan Chai and close to many local eateries, a good bar street and the MTR. Looking a little dated but good value for money. Not so easy to find as the entrance is on Fenwick str. Breakfast was very good and had a decent variety of eats.

The Empire in the Wanchai district is a great location for the HK Rugby 7's. Very close to the weekend party and the number 5B bus direct to the stadium. Room were tidy and clean. The only issue was the desk chair is too big for the space.

I've stayed in the Empire for every trip I have made to Hong Kong in the last 5 years. The price is reasonable and the rooms are ok. We use this as a base to do tours and go out to visit restaurants so luxury doesn't come into our equation, just good price and the location.

Chose this hotel due to the location. Walking distance to the convention centre, wan chai metro and various restaurants and night life in the vicinity. Arrived well before the check in time after a long flight and the hotel obliged with a room without a fuss. This is priceless for a weary traveller. The staff in the from desk, concierge,...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
