We needed to spend a night in HK when returning from Vietnam, and flying to San Francisco the next day. At the airport we discovered there were no taxi's for 5, w/luggage, so we braved the local bus system to Tung Chung station, then transferred to the Mui Wo bus to Silvermine Bay. It took 1 1/2 hours to go... More

When most of us think Hong Kong it's city bustle, close quarters and high rise. Many years ago we stumbled upon Silvermine Beach Resort in Mui Wo. A 40 minute drive over the mountain ridge from the airport on Lantau Island. you arrive at a delightful, quiet and restful beach which the resort nestles up to. Don't expect 5 star... More

I have stayed at the Silvermine Beach Resort in 2008 and was happy to return. It is not one of the best hotels but it's setting, overlooking the sea at Mui Wo, cannot be beaten! Don't expect silver service or spectacular rooms as you would have to pay a lot more in another hotel if that's what you want. However,... More

The Silvermine Beach Hotel is in a perfect location right on Silvermine Beach. Cows and often water buffaloes can be seen on the beach at dusk. The hotel is being refurbished and we had a refurbished room in the 'old' wing. It was great. The taxi from the airport cannot get you right to the front entrance but drops you... More

We checked in for a weekend away from the Hong Kong Central buzz. Mui Wo, is awesome. There is a beach, lovely coastal walk and restaurants for nice bite to eat. The town is going through some serious refurbishment with the streets being re-paved - it will be a great place in 6 months time. We were deeply disappointed with... More

Reminds me of the film - The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Silvermine is a delightful, tired, ramshackle 3 star hotel with 5 star views over the ocean, metres to the beach and 450m to the Mui Wo ferry terminal (30 minutes to Central). The breakfast buffet is plain though extensive. The beds are firm and the showers excellent. No wi... More

Located right next to silvermine beach and Mui wu ferry terminal. The walk is abt 10mins so if you got big bags this might be an issue. The hotel is in dire need of a refurbishment. Part of the resort has been renovated but still much to be desired for. The room was ok. Hallways were messy and need to... More

Stayed here for couple of nights at the end of a trip to Hong Kong. -Room was clean, tidy, plenty of amenities. -Hotel is in good location on beach front with our room having a stunning view out over the bay. Short walk (about 10minutes) from ferry/bus terminal. -Breakfast was okay, plenty choice to suit most tastes. -The bathroom in... More

The great pity is that this could be such a great hotel but unfortunately isn't. The location is great. It overlooks a beautiful bay and is only 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and central bus station. On the other hand it is situated on a pedestrianised walk way which means taxis cannot get closer than 250 yards -... More
