This hotel actually looks nice and tidy from the outside-the location is also almost perfect when you may need Kowloon center as the most preference, but when it comes to the lobby area and you get in then you might see the faces and behavior of the front liners like cold blood robots. They don't care whether you were happy...

We regret to hear about your unpleasant experience with our hotel, and would like to apologise for this. Please know that all guest feedback is taken seriously. We have spoken to our frontliners about this, and are now looking into our staff training programme to improve on our service standards. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Stayed here on a trip with the whole family. We booked 5 rooms. No problems with the late check in, since our flight arrived close to 9pm in HK. Check in was quick, the front desk staff was very efficient, considering that there was also a big tour group checking in at the same time. At the time we stayed,...

This is my second stay at Silka. The last time I stayed there in 2010, it was operating under the name of "Dorsett Seaview". I like this hotel given its value for money. I have relatives in HK so I visit HK frequently. In the Yaumatei/Jordan area, Silka has got to be the best in terms of price/value ratio. Value...

Great location just around the corner from the Temple Street Markets and sidewalk cafes. The proximity to Nathan Road is another plus. It's not far from the Yau Ma Tei MRT station. Getting around is not a problem as the MRT is quite efficient and reliable. The rooms themselves were clean and the staff did a good job of keeping...

Got 3 rooms for my trip which were super compact, barely have enough space for our luggage and we keep tripping over it. But I don't really mind as I know most hotels in Hong Kong have small rooms with high rates. Only ventilation problem as rooms are small and windows are sealed. However, rooms are very clean (my top...

Silka Seaview is a small hotel situated in the middle of downtown Kowloon. The reception area doesn’t give much space for people and their luggage if groups would check in. There are two small elevators to the left. It might take some time to ride an elevator during “rush hours” such as early mornings when everyone rushes to go somewhere....

I went to Hong Kong quite a number of times. Last year, my primary school buddies decided to go Hong Kong together and since I have been there quite a number of times, I took the responsibility to do the itinerary and all the arrangements. We have browsed through a lot of hotels with good price in all sort of...

Small rooms, small lobby (if at all you could call it that!), no bell service. Getting to the lift is like queueing at the MTR. On the good side, night market is just a 2-minute walk, MTR and convenience stores, 5-mins. Hong Kong is unbelievably expensive!

stayed here last december. i was shocked by the dwarf-like size of the room here at silka. however, after a while, you get used to it and it is actually very compact. it is quite good for short stays in HK and the location is ideal. just down temple street and a block away from ladies market. plus lots of...

Dont' give them your credit / debit card. They liberally overcharged me HKD 1070 in "refundable" deposits for a two night stay. It's 3 weeks later and I still don't have a refund. There are other comparable hotels in the area - best use them instead.

Staying in Jordan / Yau Ma Tei

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighbourhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamourous or busy as its neighbours Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighbourhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighbourhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.
