Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pro: 1. The soap and shampoos where in big bottles, unlike 70% of other hotels. 2. Their rooftop has a nice view of the harbor. Cons: 1. The room is not clean. There were dust/mold/sticky residues on the curtains/switches/wires. 2. The smoke detector is blinking lights and is on top of our bed. It is impossible to sleep. 3. Their air-condition is very loud. 4. This hotel provides the saddest breakfast you will ever experience. The miso soup is 1/8 of the bowl. It is like they are saving water. 5. Their swimming pool is just sad. 6. Their check-in is at 3p.m. but it is a must to check-out at 12p.m. 95% of the hotels in Hong Kong have better time space. It is not recommendable to book with The Pier Hotel, not even if they lower their overpriced rate by 500%.

Can’t thank you more to the reservation team 🙇🏻‍♀️🙏🏻 they were very helpful 👍🏻 and patience 🥰 on all enquiries from pre-stay throughout the whole stay! Premium Ocean Front room is excellent 🤩 Very spacious, warm home feel and very comfortable. Ocean view is fantastic 😍 Infinity ocean view on Rooftop is ⭐️⭐️⭐️ excellent! Love 🥰 the high tables and sofas on rooftop that providing a very spacious and comfortable place for chill and hangout. Swimming pool is small, depth of water only 1.03m yet good enough for leisure swim. Highly recommend hotel to add umbrellas and sunchairs as a long investment to attract more guests to come. WA Theater Restaurant, the oily smell is quite strong 🤨 Japanese breakfast set is very so~so 😑

Tried to call them to confirm my booking but I got hung up by sb. So I tried contacting them through instagram. The staff accused me of not booking on their website and blamed me on why I booked it through OTA! That’s the craziest service I’ve ever seen. I asked why didn’t I get replied for a whole freaking week. The dude said we’re small team what do you expect? I don’t know how the reviews on booking.com and Agoda are positive. This is the time I know TripAdvisor is the only one telling the truth. If you wanna be treated like a beggar, book this hotel. Their CS are incredibly in this sense. Convo is attached.

Super poor customer service and rude tone of manner. Tried to contact in advance to confirm the booking whilst I waited for a whole damn week for their reply. Tried to ask if there’s any arrangement as I was going to celebrate the birthday for my girlfriend and I just wanna get in a bit earlier for decorations. The cs officer accused me of not booking through their website and he even said you shoulda booked the bday package instead. What the hell? If your hotel doesn’t allow guests to book through OTA, you shouldn’t get listed on it!

To be clear, I did not stay at this hotel but wandered in to ask about their rooms. The receptionist just redirected me to the website. I asked a few questions and it seemed she couldn’t get rid of me quick enough. I did find out that the hotel has no catering. There is a Japanese restaurant downstairs, which does not actually belong to the hotel. That accounts for the Asian breakfast mentioned in other reviews. It was hard work trying to find out if there was tea and coffee in the rooms. I will not be staying here.

We booked bed and breakfast package directly with hotel website . The deluxe room has sea view and balcony. Room is clean and spacious. The breakfast is a set breakfast and only Japanese style of breakfast is provided. There is other choice of breakfast but has to pay HK$185 or more for a set. There are many nice cafe in Sai Kung town. Don’t bother to book bed and breakfast, just book a room and go somewhere else if you are not a fan of Japanese breakfast

The place is generally fine but not impressive. Service is rather aloof. Rooms are average — chose the suite which happened to be divided into 3 small spaces crowded with furniture. You cannot open windows. Some friends chose a larger room with a quite nice balcony. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster — served in a Japanese next to the hotel. The road in front of the hotel is very noisy. The rooftop is the best part of it and it includes a decent pool. Prices are on the high side, especially considering that it was a weekday stay.

This hotel has so much potential to be great but unfortunately it fails to deliver on lots of things that leave you feeling a bit ‘meh’ The seafront location is great but realistically you only get to enjoy that fully if you book the most expensive rooms. We stayed in the ocean front ‘terrace’ room. The terrace is more of a ‘space’ which you can stand in. Basically like most HK style balconies. Room was big and bright but a little tired looking. Tea and coffee facilities but no milk sachets despite having them in the hotel. TV didn’t work properly. Breakfast is ok if you’re happy having rice and noodles. I’m not. Swimming pool area is very nice and the pool is fairly big although only 1 metre deep which is a bit weird. Also no toilet which again is weird. There’s a ‘bar’ which is basically a counter and a person with some eskies to keep drinks cold. Its such a shame the owner doesn’t care enough about this place to make it truly amazing, because it could be. I guess they’re making enough from it already without investing the extra money to make it a true 5* hotel.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience at the Pier - the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, it looks and feels dated, and our room was insecure (the terrace door didn't shut) and backed onto a public shipyard. In addition, we encountered a used, discarded diaper in the elevator upon checking in, our aircon wasn't working and the room facilities are anything but luxury - I'm incredibly surprised that the hotel is so popular. Furthermore, the customer service was terrible. We initially were told there were no additional rooms available, nothing they could do... only for us to state we were going to leave - and suddenly they found a room on a higher floor. When we eventually insisted on cancelling our stay, they agreed to provide a full refund. However, after 3 weeks, both the accommodation costs, as well as prepayment have been held and not returned to us. Fortunately, I regularly check my bank account and am having to chase them to ensure I receive my funds. It turns out that they 'forgot' to complete the authorisation, were it not for me chasing I would not receive my money. I would encourage all potential guests to instead book an Airbnb in Sai Kung rather than staying at the Pier.

We were excited about our stay bur were immediately disappointed with the greeting we received as well as the checkin. They were taking double deposits and giving wring statements. In addition we received no information whatsoever about the facilities. We went out for the day and checked in later. Overall the room was ok but worn out. One very bad thing though was the air conditioning. It was extremely loud to a point where even with ear plugs it was not possible to sleep. In addition to this, the kitchenette exhaust never turned off either so it just added to the noise. Then in the morning the staff was already vacuuming the carpets in the hallway before 9 am - which again was easily hearable in the room. Overall I do not recommend it - too expensive, dirty and not nice.
