The booking process was relatively pleasant and I received good service from Melissa who took the time to check rooms and arrange everything over the phone.

We paid for a premium deluxe sea view terrace room, the room was large with nice furnishing, but the room cleaning leaves much to be desired. There was a thin layer of sand on the bathroom upon checking in obviously left pant the last guests, long black hair at the bottom shelf of the bathroom and two more hair on the cushions. We left the hair there and during our entire stay the cleaners never removed the hair from the shelf or the cushions! The AC is very loud if you leave it on at night.

There are barely any facilities at this hotel, the rooftop is quite nice but there is no shade other than 2 umbrellas and the pool is small and always packed with kids.

We checked out a bit early on the last day to head to Trio beach, and realised when we walked to the pier outside the hotel that it was going to be a very busy day given it’s a public holiday. We returned to the hotel immediately and asked reception if we can head back to our room given we only checked out for less than 30min and there was sometime until check out so we can chill on our balcony. The reception told me the room had already been cleaned for the next guests. Firstly, how can a room be properly cleaned in 30 mins if it was done properly. Secondly, I couldn’t believe it when the reception guy (Julian) offered me a dirty used room that some other guests just checked out so we can sit on that room’s balcony instead. What kind of hotel would offer a guest who paid for the best category room in the hotel a much lower grade USED room??! When I mentioned my surprise at the offer, he said he can ask housekeeping to clean it for us. If they can clean a standard room why can’t he offer me the room I paid for and which was supposedly already cleaned!? It’s ridiculous. What’s worse, every guest that has checked in in the queue ahead of me had been told their rooms will not be available until 3pm and they all left their luggage at reception. So I don’t know which guests require the room at that instant. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and never been offered a dirty used room. It’s ludicrous that reception and the housekeeping team would even consider offering me that!? What kind of training did the staff receive to even contemplate this would be acceptable for a supposedly luxurious hotel?

I think this hotel is fine for a short stay in Sai Kung but the service leaves much to be desired, especially if they want to call themselves a luxury hotel. At the moment you are made to feel like a stay at a bed and breakfast and one that’s not very clean.

We had a great HK staycay at The Pier Hotel!
Location is perfect, next to the ferry pier to Trio Beach and the free shuttle takes you straight up to Sai Kung proper where you can sail, kayak and head to the islands.
The rooms are very large, they all come with a balcony too and modern amenities.
The view from the very large roof top terrace is stunning. (The pool was closed due to Covid19 but looked nice). Very luxurious feel of it overall.
It could have been 5 stars weren't it for a few minor things that a lot of other reviewers have mentioned too:
- Extremely loud AC
- The TV kept turning itself on randomly during the night on high volume starting from 5am, almost had a heart attack.
- The breakfast is not so much a hotel breakfast rather than a small plate of food and one small bev in the adjacent Japanese restaurant. If you charge people for a hotel breakfast, you should give them more than a single cup of coffee and a croissant.

This hotel is overpriced for what you get.

There are two main issues: i) there is no 'service'. When you are paying this amount per night, there should be some touches like a turndown before bed, little surprises in the room and it would be nice if someone checked up on you at all during your stay ii) As others have mentioned, the biggest disappointment is the breakfast. It's largely inedible and it is an overly complicated system. Even though we arrived before our scheduled check in time, 1 of only 3 breakfast slots for the next day was taken already and of course it was the latest breakfast slot. You can choose to have the food delivered to your room but you have to commit to one of three delivery time slots (8am, 9am, 10am) but honestly.. I wouldn't even bother. What was delivered was horrific looking..

However there are other problems: i) there is a view however when your balcony doors are wired shut and when the 'alfresco' space in the room looks a bit weathered and can barely fit three chairs, it's definitely not as enjoyable as it could be. ii) the rooms need some upkeep. Our furniture was uncomfortable, the scale wasn't functioning (maybe dead battery), there wasn't any Kleenex/tissue, the bath products weren't great, the showerhead and tube was leaking water and there was a bit more wear and tear in general than you'd like to see iii) the rooftop pool area is barren and could do with some greenery to make it a more relaxing and scenic place. The furniture outside of the bed isn't that comfortable. iv) The location is good and bad. It's in a more relaxing part of HK, close to a bay with a nice beach that you can reach by boat and not that far from Sai Kung town (free shuttle provided) but there's not much in the immediate vicinity. Definitely have at least one meal at the Padstow. We had lunch there and it was fantastic. v) The facilities are really limited. The gym (which becomes important when there is bad weather and you can't access the beach or the rooftop pool) is very small, with limited equipment, no room for yoga mats or stretching (this could be rectified by having yoga mats in every room). Overall the hotel doesn't have much to offer besides the room and the rooftop.

Sadly it's unlikely that we'll be back.

stayed in this hotel in sept with friends for staycation and experience was very bad.

i arrived there at around 1400 and after checked in, the staff arranged one room to me but when i went in the room and i found it very dirty so i complained to the front desk staff, they said that they would provided me a harbour view room as a token of apology. however, it took me over an hour to make the change of room and when i asked the staff why, he then said that their normal check in time was 1500 and since i came early so i needed to wait for longer time and he also said that if i didn’t want to wait, he could simply give me another normal room without upgrade.... he was so rude and impolite indeed.

our package included breakfast but the food quality of the breakfast was horrible, even worst than mac donald !

no facilities and staffs are not well trained and not friendly at all.

i will never come back again !

We booked a 2-night staycation at The Pier Hotel to spend the week-end in Sai Kung. The view on the Marina is beautiful and you can enjoy it from the amazing rooftop with a cozy outdoor space and a nice swimming pool. The rooms are moderns, quite spacious and some have a small kitchens, and this is probably a good option considering that there is no room service in the hotel.
There is a Japanese restaurant in the carpark serving an overpriced breakfast ($160) only made with processed food, so I am definitely not recommending it, and unfortunately there is no bar on the rooftop.
Also, there are not a lot of food options near the hotel, apart from the nice Padstow Bar & Restaurant that you should try, but you are only at a 10-15 minutes drive from Sai Kung with a free shuttle bus running almost every hour from 8:30am to 7:30pm, so it is still convenient.

Overall it was a nice stay and I thank Julian and Odette for their kindness and help. Make sure to go there with a good sunny weather to enjoy the outdoor space!
Another nice thing to do is the quick hike from the hotel to Trio Beach and you can come back by boat.

This hotel has so much potential to be great but unfortunately it fails to deliver on lots of things that leave you feeling a bit ‘meh’ The seafront location is great but realistically you only get to enjoy that fully if you book the most expensive rooms. We stayed in the ocean front ‘terrace’ room. The terrace is more of a ‘space’ which you can stand in. Basically like most HK style balconies. Room was big and bright but a little tired looking. Tea and coffee facilities but no milk sachets despite having them in the hotel. TV didn’t work properly. Breakfast is ok if you’re happy having rice and noodles. I’m not.

Swimming pool area is very nice and the pool is fairly big although only 1 metre deep which is a bit weird. Also no toilet which again is weird. There’s a ‘bar’ which is basically a counter and a person with some eskies to keep drinks cold.

Its such a shame the owner doesn’t care enough about this place to make it truly amazing, because it could be. I guess they’re making enough from it already without investing the extra money to make it a true 5* hotel.

We booked this hotel when they were doing a special offer. This includes breakfast. You can choose a Japanese breakfast, western or vegetarian breakfast. You can eat in the restaurant or in your room. The Japanese breakfast tasted good.

We have booked an ocean view room and it was great to have a balcony to enjoy the view.

The room is big and the bed is very comfortable. The amenities provided are good. There are free WiFi and room slippers provided. The air con in our room is rather unstable. Sometimes it comes with loads of cold air, sometimes it does not feel there is any.

The swimming pool area is lovely. The view from there is great. Even after the swimming pool is closed you can seat up there and chill and enjoy the view.

The hotel is by the pier and hence u can take a ferry to go to trio beach. What a joy.

The check in and check out is very seamless. However they are very strict with when u check in or check out. Even when we get there after 2pm they still would not give you a room as official room stay starts at 3pm.

Check out the rolls Royce in the car park area.

There is also a free shuttle at certain times to pick you up from Hang Hou(坑口), but this was never mentioned when I make a direct booking with the hotel.

All in all with special offer good value.

We booked bed and breakfast package directly with hotel website . The deluxe room has sea view and balcony. Room is clean and spacious. The breakfast is a set breakfast and only Japanese style of breakfast is provided. There is other choice of breakfast but has to pay HK$185 or more for a set. There are many nice cafe in Sai Kung town. Don’t bother to book bed and breakfast, just book a room and go somewhere else if you are not a fan of Japanese breakfast

We were excited about our stay bur were immediately disappointed with the greeting we received as well as the checkin. They were taking double deposits and giving wring statements. In addition we received no information whatsoever about the facilities.

We went out for the day and checked in later. Overall the room was ok but worn out. One very bad thing though was the air conditioning. It was extremely loud to a point where even with ear plugs it was not possible to sleep. In addition to this, the kitchenette exhaust never turned off either so it just added to the noise. Then in the morning the staff was already vacuuming the carpets in the hallway before 9 am - which again was easily hearable in the room.

Overall I do not recommend it - too expensive, dirty and not nice.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience at the Pier - the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, it looks and feels dated, and our room was insecure (the terrace door didn't shut) and backed onto a public shipyard. In addition, we encountered a used, discarded diaper in the elevator upon checking in, our aircon wasn't working and the room facilities are anything but luxury - I'm incredibly surprised that the hotel is so popular.

Furthermore, the customer service was terrible. We initially were told there were no additional rooms available, nothing they could do... only for us to state we were going to leave - and suddenly they found a room on a higher floor. When we eventually insisted on cancelling our stay, they agreed to provide a full refund. However, after 3 weeks, both the accommodation costs, as well as prepayment have been held and not returned to us. Fortunately, I regularly check my bank account and am having to chase them to ensure I receive my funds. It turns out that they 'forgot' to complete the authorisation, were it not for me chasing I would not receive my money.

I would encourage all potential guests to instead book an Airbnb in Sai Kung rather than staying at the Pier.
