Travelled as a family of 2 adults and 1 Child for 7N. I would break up my review into the following points- 1)Location- The hotel is located in a good area however,it is a decent amount of walk to the MTR station. Lot of eateries , grocery shops like 7/11 , k circle and restaurants nearby. 2)Rooms - we read lot of reviews regarding how small the rooms are & were somehow prepared mentally for it. The rooms are literally match box sized ,but thats how it is in HK. Infact they would be so small that adjusting and accommodating suitcases can become a problem.Inspite of the small size of the rooms, they are clean and bed is comfortable. No complimentary water but they do give a glass bottle that can be refilled at the filling stations(this is not a big problem and can be easily managed). 3)Room service and Housekeeping- This is perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this hotel. Room service is absolutely horrible- slow and forgetful- you have to constantly call them to send stuff to the room, clear plates rtc . In fact the plates after being cleared would be kept at the emergency exit for days. Housekeeping staff is very cold and rude. If they could improve this aspect , they would probably go a long way. 4)Breakfast - Breakfast is pretty ordinary but considering that most HK hotels dont offer breakfast, it was reasonably ok. Just 4 main items with sides like cereal , fruit , milk. We stayed 7N and barely had any variety in the breakfast. Just a suggestion to have more options . The breakfast restaurant staff is very courteous, polite and warm. So a big thumbs up for that. 5)Reception/Front Desk/ Concierge- usually you would talk about this aspect first but just wanted to end this review with the best part about this place- Their reception and concierge staff. Everyone including Eddie, Cathy, Eric, Kevin, Derek ,Andrew, Wilson and Thomas were absolutely fantastic, always smiling and every so ready to help . Overall I would summarise by saying that its a decent place to be put up while in HK at the price point theu offer, but drastic improvement is still needed .

Myself and my wife stayed at Dorsett Mongkok for 15 nights. The easiest, clearest and most concise way to write this review is to list the pros and cons of the hotel, in order of the greatest to the lowest. Pros - The hotel is situated in a great area. It is indeed under a 10 minute stroll to Olympic MTR Station, which connects you on a direct line to Kowloon or Central in under 10 minutes, and direct to Ngong Ping Cable Car (Tian Tan Buddha) or the Disneyland Line Station in under 25 minutes, for your day trips. The area is a little quieter than the bustling Central, Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui districts, but this becomes welcome after long days in the crowds. Directly opposite the hotel, there is a 7-Eleven, alongside multiple larger supermarkets for a heavier shop. There are also numerous street food outlets and a McDonalds directly opposite for the Western palette. You could also take food to the 'park' area, which lies opposite the hotel too. There is also a taxi rank directly outside the hotel which is listed on Uber as a pick-up location. Customer service at this hotel was absolutely fantastic. Our regards to Gus - an absolute asset to the hotel team. The team were reachable on WhatsApp at any hour of the day, and would read and reply almost instantly to any questions or requests. You can also reach them easily on the room phone. The team are always happy to help - offering us a late check out, and catering to a very early check in. Another pro is the washing room, where you can wash and dry your clothes. The price is a little expensive, 80 HKD (£8) for a single wash and dry load, and we had an issue with the machines as they left a stain on some of our shirts. However, the team were pleased to send these express to a local dry cleaners - another example of their great care. Breakfast was included in our hotel deal, which was great. On the second floor, you will find breakfast from 6am to last servings at 10:30am. Breakfast offerings generally include light pastries, juices, alongside either boiled or scrambled eggs, pork patties or ham. The selection was small, and got a little same same after a while, but was great nonetheless for free. Breakfast staff were friendly and the head chef was always looking out to see if you were enjoying your food. Cons - The biggest con unfortunately has to be room size. Space is a commodity in Hong Kong, as we know, however the room space was extraordinarily small for our Room Superior. We thought our room in the UK was small, but it felt like a mansion when we arrived home. There isn't really a sufficient storage space for your luggage, and certainly no space to stretch your legs. The desk in the room was a welcome addition, and we did nonetheless find the bed and room generally very comfortable. Lack of privacy. A huge con. For myself and my wife, it was okay. But I would warn others - I would not stay at this hotel if you plan on staying with someone you aren't super comfortable with. By this I emphasise the fact that there is not a lock on the bathroom door, in fact the bathroom door is merely a slide over piece of glass which barely closes. The bathroom was situated directly next to our bed, as in I could touch it with my hands while lying in bed - thats how small the room is. There was zero soundproofing either, in fact the designers thought it a great idea to put pieces of see through glass at the top and bottom of the doors too. Another huge con was the noise levels. The walls were extremely thin, probably the thinnest walls in a hotel that I've stayed in. You can hear people talking at a normal level in the room next door, and if someone is talking as the walk down the corridor you will be woken up. Every morning I was awoken as early as 5am because it felt like people were having a conversation inside our room, all the way up until being awoken at 2am by corridor noise. We found that aspects of the room also required a little extra TLC. There was a stain underneath the bin on the carpet. For a hotel that only opened in mid-2010, the mirrors were also incredibly dirty. I can't help but feel that every month or so each room should have a deep clean - it felt like our room had only had a series of surface cleans over the years. The wallpaper was also peeling slightly, which ruined the look of the room. I also feel that the TV's could do with an update - they are incredibly small even compared to the size of the room and offer only one English speaking channel other than the news. Another con is that the hotel only has two elevators. For a hotel with literally hundreds of rooms, this meant long waits for the lift. We stayed on the 15th floor out of around 30, and found ourselves waiting on a lift for up to 15 minutes at times, only for the lift to arrive and be full to the brim with suitcases, and have to wait another 10 minutes. No hotel should have their guests waiting for up to half an hour for a space in an elevator. This is an issue which MUST be fixed. We would also urge the hotel to rethink their booking policy. This is perhaps the biggest issue we faced. I had the hotel booked for 3 months, and emailed weeks before our stay to ask if there would be a prepayment, as there was a certain card I wanted it to be held on in that case. Unfortunately, I received no reply, so assumed there would be no prepayment. If I can advise Dorsett to change their booking confirmation email in this case, as it states under "Payment Policy" that "All payment will be done at the hotel upon arrival", then underneath states that the full reservation amount will be charged in advance. Please edit this for clarity, as it caused me some headache. We received an email at 2am UK time, on the morning we were due to fly to Hong Kong, telling us that the full prepayment charge had failed (despite my emailing asking them to change the card if they were going to do so). The email, I actually found to be very rude. I would suggest that Mandy and Nicole from Dorsett improve their customer service. We were told that if we did not provide new credit card details by what was 8am UK time, our "booking would be released without notice". This gave us an absolutely unnecessary panic on the morning of our flight, and kept us up before our 13 hour travel. To threaten someone with a 6 hour time frame to pay before they cancel your two week booking the day before you arrive, with no notice, is horrible. When we replied to sort this, Mandy once again gave us this time a 4 hour time limit to pay. This was disappointing, and dampened the experience before our arrival. Mandy and Nicole let the rest of the team down with their rude service and lack of care for the customer. This was a situation that was entirely avoidable if Dorsett's booking confirmation email and material online was written more clearly, and if Dorsett had bothered to reply to my email from weeks prior to this regarding prepayment. All in all, I believe the pros of this hotel equally weigh the cons. It is a hotel that requires a little TLC, and some sharpening around the edges. However, you will find it generally very comfortable, with fresh sheets most days, a hearty enough breakfast and a very friendly and helpful reception team. The location is great for the MTR, local area and shuttle bus service that is offered most hours, and for the price when compared to other hotels in Hong Kong I would recommend this place. I would stay again without a doubt.

Our stay at Dorsett Mongkok in January 2024 was excellent due to Gus helpful and understanding patience in finding a quiet room for us. It's unavoidable you still get people who like to bang their doors when they leave or shout to each other in the hallways but having someone like Gus to give you a helping hand makes the stay wonderful. The room was cleaned daily and we loved the water pressure making the rainfall showerhead a plus. Definitely thumbs up to Gus for a memorable experience, thank you again and look forward to coming back.

Awesome stay at Dorsett Mongkok and many thanks to Mr Wilson at belldesk for his warm welcome. He helped me to do self check in and it was fast and easy. The hotel shuttle bus driver was also very helpful and this hourly shuttle bus was pretty useful. You can even alight at Kowloon station which was really convenient. The housekeeping team for room 1109 was fantastic too and they did a great job everyday. My room was facing the primary school and if you want to walk to Mongkok MTR, it will be about 10 minutes. This hotel has exceeded my expectations and I will revisit soon.

How to begin writing about this wonderful place we call home when we are in Hong Kong. We have stayed with Dorsett Mongkok for almost a decade now. Every single time we are there we were NEVER disappointed. Even when there is a little problem caused by other situation, the staff make sure that everything works to our satisfaction. I am giving credit to ALL the staff supporting this hotel. Aus Cheung, our front office manager, he is always there to answer any concern and arrange anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable than last time (if that is possible). He is the Gem! Our daily breakfast supplied by the hard working kitchen staff supplying always perfect eggs. The sweetest servers at the restaurant that welcomes us every morning and start our day perfectly. Last but not least, the VERY hard working room cleaning staff that works quietly but perfectly behind the scene making our stay always most comfortable. Thank you thank you thank you , to all and we will be back soon.

Rooms so small. You xan only get out of bed on one side. No space for suitcases and no wardrobe just a hanging rail you can't reach. No information available about breakfast, no maps or local information. Reception area is tiny and full of cases with people coming and going. One toilet in reception for all the people waiting for rooms and leaving after 11am.
