Be honest, the hostel provides affordable accommodation with facilities better then I expected. However, this isn’t a retreat from the city. This is a pub instead. At the midnight, I was awakened by noise while sleeping. I came out from room and found that, one female staff and two men (maybe guests, they aren’t staff I saw at the reception before.) were watching World Cup at the canteen. Table was full of beers and snacks. They seem to really enjoy the game and screamed like crazy football fans. How ridiculous? Guests are reminded to keep quiet after 10pm. But staff even not intended to advise these noisy people, and watched TV loudly together. Thanks god! The game ended without extra time. The night became silent again. Avoid to stay here, at least, during the World Cup. Unless you eager to experience sleeping in a pub. I’m sorry to staff of hostel, except the one who watching World Cup. They are really friendly and helpful. With deep regret, I have no choice other than rating the hostel as Terrible.

Stayed here in a 8 bed dorm, the dorm was not cleaned during our 3 night stay. Very untidy and extremely noisy form adjacent rooms! ONLY Asian style toilets here which were absolutely disgusting and not cleaned during our stay once!! Staff were lovely and tried to be helpful but it doesn't make up for the very basic facilities ad poor hygiene within the hostel. Also the water sports centre nearby (main reason we chose the hostel) only let's you complete activities like kayaking if you have a certified license so we couldn't even do any of them either... all in all wouldn't stay here again unless I really had to.

I stayed in a 8-bunk bed room. Very spacious, something I really like about it. They gave us new clean sheets, blankets and pillowcases for our stay. The room has a decent aircon/fans, lockers and lots of power outlets! :) It's close to the barbecue pits and the reservoir for some leisure stuff. The staff is really friendly and were very helpful to get us around the hotel facilities.

Basic accommodation in the beautiful Tai Mei Tuk. We staying in the twin room (two very small and hard single beds with good aircon and fan) next to a shared shower and toilet. If you don't mind roughing it up, its definitely worth it! We have been back twice. Loads to do in the area from BBQ, fishing, cycling and good Thai restaurants.

If you wish to spend a couple of days in a comfortable and clean place away from the noise, dirt and bustle of central Hong Kong this is the place to come. It is next to a lake, in the countryside and there are bike tracks near by. There are a few restaurants very nearby on the main road but don't expect anything much at 8am or late evening, be flexible and bring your own breakfast etc.. The hostel is comfortable but basic, clean and environmentally friendly. As it is a bus and a train ride away from Hong Kong it is quite far away but the buses and trains are very regular so its not a big inconvenience. This place would be very handy for people wishing to explore the new territories of Hong Kong because of its location. I would recommend it.

the place is a little run down dispite its praise to the jocky club for renovation funds. however, the location makes it a winner for me. catch the e41 from the airport and then the 20c to be dropped nearby. you can hire bikes for the nearby trails or walk them. the locals come here for watersports and bbqs.

The hostel is located in a serene atmosphere, sorrounded by reservoir and hills. A very nice place to relax and calm. If planned carefully one can manage very well within the budget here. Transportation is good as one can get minibus 20c at regular frequency from here to Taipo market railway station. Food might be a problem for those want to have within budget. The hostel has kitchen and once can buy food at reasonable prices( I would say cheap compared to Sg) in the nearby Taipo Market. The Hostel Guy, Mr. Kenny is good. The check in and check out times and late entry to hostels after the closing time can be managed if informed priorly. Minus The hostel bathrooms can be improves so as the kitchen. Worth for the money spent!

From the airport in Vietnam we called Bradbury Jockey Club Youth Hostel to let them know that our plane from Vietnam to Hong Kong was two hours delayed, so we would arrive in HK 1 o'clock instead. They told us that it was no problem. 1 o'clock at night we arrive at the hostel (in the middle of nowhere!) and the gate was closed. Two telephone numbers were written on the gate - they didn't answer... So we had to sleep outside (it was cooold!) with lots of cats around us. The next morning the staff arrived - we asked to get our money back for the first night (the night we had spent outside the hostel) but no! Instead we where charged for a membership card each which made the stay very expensive... Everyday between 10:00-16:00 they close the hostel because they have to clean (didn't seem that clean). It's a very long time! Far from supermarkets, not many restaurants around. To say something good... the area around the hostel is very cosy; grill area, boats, forrest, lots of walking tracks.

The Bradbury Jockey Club Youth Hostel - What a contrast compared to the hustling and bustling area of central Hong Kong! The YH is located next to the Plover Cove reservoir, a large dring water reservoir in the NT (New Territories). It can be reached by public transport, as follows: Take the KCR East Rail line towards Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau, get off at Tai Po Market, hop on the 20C minibus, and ride it all the way to the end. Then walk along the "beach" (ocean to your right) for 200m. The YH offers dorm beds at HK$85. The sanitary facilities would need some refreshing work, otherwise the place is just fine. Kenny is a very friendly and helpful staff.
