Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a fun hostel. We ate breakfast in the lobby on a unique table so you had no choice but to speak to other travelers. Service was just ok. It was mostly the culture and the build that made this hostel unforgettable! I usually travel in solo and found that i met more people here than anywhere else. Slept with two other women from GB and got my shampoo stolen from the communal shower. Wasnt impressed but whatever. Beijing is a HUGE city. The biggest ive seen. So the location is excellent. I was walking distance feon tianmen, was a motorbike taxi close to temple of heaven, the street itself is full of interesting food, merchandise, market, tourist traps, etc. I would go back there. I loved it!

the location are just great, near to the famous food street in Beijing, walking distance to MRT, TianAnMen square and lot of HuTong (old street). The old Chinese style accommodation and backyard are just awesome for those wanted to feel the pure chinese architecture.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel for the following reasons. Location is amazing, the staff is very friendly, the food prices were amazing and they offer all sorts of tours making it easy to see the sites. The hostel is in an old heritage building that added to the charm and experience of old city Beijing. Be warned that since this is an older building some room walls have small holes looking into your neighbours and the shared facilities are technically outdoors which can be a little chilly at night but I personally had zero issues with these as the price, staff and location more than makes up for it. Walking distance from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The hostel had tours going to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall This section is away from most tourists

Everytime I've stayed at Qianmen Hostel service, price rates and treatment from the employees has been awesome. A "must" for every traveller looking for a relaxing place to stay, but at the same time allows you to meet other travellers and exchange experiences and itineraries both in Beijing or other places around China. As said, perfect cheap place to stay if you're not looking towards spending a big amount of money.

This isn't the nicest hostel in the world, but it feels like...a hostel. It's cheap enough, has hot water and good water pressure (and the shower actually drains, always a plus). Big bottles of Tsingtao for 5 rmb. I know there are people out there who care about this detail. The breakfast was good (includes a free coffee! or tea/juice. if you're into that sort of thing) and cheap. Location is great too--not too far from the metro and from lots of nice hutongs with food and shopping, plus you're right in the middle of everything you want to see as a tourist. The only negative thing about this place is a problem that's not unique to a hostel/hotel in China: the staff are very very loud in the morning. There are no inside voices and you can count on being woken up

Lonely Planet (LP) has this as one of their top picks in their Beijing guidebook. My experience here was just alright -- bit dingy and run-down in places, staff had a few issues understanding English, a bit of a walk to Tiananmen (20 mins) and Qianmen Station (10 mins), but otherwise a nice, cheap, comfortable stay.

This is a charming character filled little place. We stayed here for 3 nights during our stay in China. The location was perfect, it was easy to find and easy to get to/from the airport via subway. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms where nothing special but for China standards, I had stayed in worse for alot more money and I take it as all part of the experience. Yes the beds are hard, as is most of the bedding in traditional accommodation, if you are after a luxurious soft queen size spring mattress, then I suggest you stay at an international hotel. Wondering around the nearby hutongs gives you a good feel for local life as there is no sign of 'western' influence and it is not flooded by tourists.

This was a really lovely little old courtyard place, and is a great example of the kind of place the recently rebuilt Qianmen St is trying so hard to recreate. The staff were friendly and helpful, and helped us plan our - though they discouraged us from going to the 'wild wall' at Jiankou which turned out to be totally amazing, they did say this was because it was dangerous. The hostel is atmospheric, the facilities are fine and clean, the showers run hot, and there is always internet access if you need it. They do a decent coffee, and an overpriced breakfast, but the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, right next to Tienanmen. The streets are alive at night and there are loads of great places to eat. Ask about the Peking duck place round the corner as

Great little hostel minutes from Tiananmen Sq and southern hutongs. Beautiful old courtyard. Great staff. We'll priced beer and soft drinks. Rooms were in need of a little renovation love, but pretty reasonable prices for our ensuite double.

fairly cheap hostel. good location, close to subway and tourist attractions. Fairly quiet. Staff was ok. but rooms are pretty cold and basic. Shared bathroom and showers were good but located downstairs. Tours can be a little expensive.
