Pros: Excellent location. The area has a very cool local feel and it's close to everything. Obviously, the price. Comfortable and clean beds. Cons: The place needs a good scrubbing. The shower, the walls, the rug. No one speaks English, which is okay, but I count it as a con because it just makes things complicated for travelers. The wifi...

The hotel is located within a rock's throw from The forbidden city and Jingshan park, and there are both Western style cafées and Chinese cuisines just outside, as well as small shops and convenience stores. We got a twin room for less than 300 RMB per night. It could have preferaby been cleaner (like worn-out walls and cigarette burn marks...

This place is not very convenient to public transport, a little, but not very. The Hotel's closest subway station is Dongsi. But it's takes a while to walk from there (and it was hard to find). Buses are close though. But it is very close to the forbidden city! :) The hotel staff barely speak english and are not very...

Pretty decent room for the price. I had an inner room so there were no windows. The wifi is okay, but not that great. The buffet downstairs is excellent. That was my favorite part. The food was just darn amazing to me. I ate and ate and filled my belly. Great start for the day to explore the city. Caught...

We stayed here for a week and the only thing going for this hotel is that it is near Forbidden City and Jingshan Park and is located in a hutong which makes it an interesting place to stay. Stay here if you want the following . incredibly small rooms . Air conditioning that could not be regulated. It was either...

Located in a hutong, this is a very clean and modern hotel inside. Rooms aren't large, but very clean, excellent bathroom and comfortable beds. Very close to Jinshan and Behai Parks, Forbidden City and Tiannenmen Square, but quite a wat from any metro station. Second time of staying.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Shatan Hotel. I took a screen shot on my phone of the address in Chinese on TripAdvisor and showed it to our cab driver at the airport; he found the hotel without issue. We booked a queen room with a window and were very happy with it. Our room was clean and the...

This is the hotel for visitors, who like to have a real experience of the Chinese culture! The hotel has a three (3) star rating, and is one of the better ones in this area, which is flooded with budget hotels and guest houses catering mainly for budget travellers and packaged tours for Chinese from the provinces. The alley is...

Stayed here with my middle son (9yrs) and my parents (70 yrs) here for 6 nights in april 2015. The Hotel isn't all that and tends to be a bit worn and had some issues with the seversystem/waterlocks. But if you'r not too picky its really good value for the money. Would recommend uppgrading the room, though. The things we...

This hotel is a fair way from the Metro (DONGSI), plan your walking route using Google before you leave for China or use maps.google.cn if you are already in China or you may struggle to find it. You can also take buses 103 or 109 for one stop (a long way in China!!) from the bus stop to the right...
