Detailed Reviews
This is a very value for money hotel in downtown Beijing convenientally located next to the Wanfujing shopping street and nearby business district, also close to the forbidden city. Although not the newest hotel the condition is well maintained and the executive rooms are spacious with good light - and if you are lucky you'll get a view of the CBD skyscrapers. I always get the same lady at checkin and she's very helpful with all the registration requirements - they are quite strict in Beijing in the pandemic period - and if you don't speak Chinese they are fluent in English. I even get updgraded sometimes.
It's really good price for the area compared to other hotels and my favorite benefit of staying there is that you are literally opposite the Peninsula Beijing, so I can go there for a drink on the rooftop bar without need spend a lot on a room.

I stayed here with a few friends and we made a good base of the hotel. It was central to some of the places we wanted to visit and the staff were quite helpful. The rooms are quiet, the beds are comfy and there is extra furniture to lounge in.
My friends and I all booked superior rooms and all upgraded to deluxe rooms once we arrived and it is honestly worth booking the deluxe rooms. Our first friend was upgraded for free right away but I arrived with a couple and we were sent to the superior rooms. The superior rooms are separate from the main tower and you have to walk a fair ways to get to them from the lobby. The couple had booked a superior room with a "king" bed on booking and found it had a queen bed instead so they upgraded for another 100 yuan a night at the front desk. I had troubles checking in as the first two rooms I went to had broken lights, phones and were quite noisy so I asked to move and they were kind enough to upgrade me. The superior rooms were quite tight and a good enough place to rest but again the deluxe rooms are much better.
The hotel is very close to Wanfujing Street and within a five minute walk to Deng Shi Kou metro station. The hotel also has a pretty decent looking buffet and a nice enough lobby bar. The hotel is very close to lots of dining options and bars at the many nearby malls and hotels.
During check in and visiting this area you need to have your Beijing Health Kit working. Mine stopped working and I had troubles getting into quite a few venues despite having several other health codes working so make sure yours works before you go to Beijing!
The picture of the lights I had issue with during my stay is included below including pictures of the superior room.

Biggest complaint was regarding breakfast and check in. Breakfast was poor. Novotel breakfasts are generally worth their price tag. I left the breakfast room still hungry. There was limited choice for vegetarians and none of the hot dishes were labeled as suitable for vegetarian people. There was a small salad selection, no beans or pulses for protein and no cheese. As a result there was limited choices to get a balanced breakfast. Very very disappointing and not worth the additional cost. Secondly I only realized that upon arrival the executive lounge was closed. As such I went to the square restaurant instead. The food there was served cold. Again was not labeled as suitable for vegetarians and most contained some kind of meat. Finally the check in experience was not good. I prechecked in filling in all of the information days ahead and still was bothered to fill in another three forms upon arrival. These forms could have been pre filled in and just require my signature. As I normally stay at this hotel this is the first time I have had this problem checking in

Our room was very nice and the air con could be adjusted very easily to our requirements. King bed was extremely comfortable and appreciated after our long journey from Australia. Breakfast provided a wide selection for all tastes. The chief concierge was very helpful and was great organising some of our transport needs. Recommended for your next stay in Beijing. We will be back there in 2 weeks as part of our return journey

The hotel provides most of the essentials of most hotels normally would at this price point (gowns, toiletries, bottled water, tea/coffee facilities). We were here for three nights but we hardly had any time to explore the hotel. Suffice to say that the location and its' neighbourhood with shops and restaurants are the main major draw card. Interestingly, even though the hotel is in a fairly busy area but the rooms are quiet. The breakfast had a good range of mainly Chinese dishes, fresh fruits (also spotted some canned fruits during one of the 3 days were there) and some limited usual western dishes (jam and toast, sausages, bacon and egg, pastry) For anyone who is looking for convenience and close proximity to most places, this hotel fits the bill very well. Definitely great place for short stay tourists. The three nights when we came back from dinners, we would just had showers and went to bed as each morning was an early start. Therefore we could not do any justice to offer any meaningful in-depth description of all the services this hotel provides, but, hey, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed twice during our first visit to China - we found the Hotel and staff excellent. The check in staff and concierge , staff at breakfast and at the Bar were uniformly friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had 2 different rooms ( identical in position within the building but on different floors , The First on the the 11th floor was definitely better than the second on the 7th , The 11th floor room seemed fresher and slightly more updated , the 7th Floor was showing it's age , especially the bathroom. However , everything functioned , we still enjoyed our stay but the entrance, restaurant, Bar and staff outshone the second room. It's a really good location if you like walking , plenty to see and do if you want to get out and explore. We had some great local meals, could find local shops . Hutong's to explore for most of the things we wanted to eat and drink. I would go again , but I would ask for a room on a higher floor perhaps , however we still had a great time, the beds were excellent , we slept well , fridge , desk, charging points, safe , slippers , dressing gowns and plenty of space. That is why I have given it a 4* rating , I really enjoyed my stay .

Good:
1. Location:
AirPort Express train to BEIXINGQIAO station and change to line 5 to DENGSHIKOU station (3 stapes only). Then walk to hotel is just about 5 minutes with luggage. Exit C.
The hotel is also between line 5 and line 8 of the metro lines.
2. Reception staff:
Speaks good English for some and were pleasant and accommodating.
Bad:
1. Room booking/Room:
On Novotel website was shown a double bed but the receptionist told me my booking is twin bed. They upgraded me to a double bed room. Room was very dark and gloomy. When I next passed by the receptionist I asked if they could make the room brighter as it’s very dark and seems like three lamps were spoilt. They then upgraded the room again to a premier room.
This premier room’s light is all working but the room is still dark if not for the west sun.
Both rooms furnishings are very old and worn out. And look very dated. Toilet has moulds on some parts of the bath area and there r cracks on the wooden wall. Room size was ok though and quiet for a sleep. For the price paid think the hotel room is of very poor value, just not comfy and that I also mean the “feel” of the room.

Although this is more like a 3.5 star hotel, I will go with a 4 because of location and sound-proof rooms. Actually quite impressive how quiet the rooms on the upper floors are even when the hotel is packed with guests. The walls must be very thick. The breakfast is very good with a selection of Western and Chinese foods. What is great is that there are several coffee stations throughout the dining room so that back-ups don't form. The location is very good, and the lobby is very nice.
The rooms (standard ones in particular) are pretty worn out. The bathrooms are small with very low ceilings. The temperature in the room does not adjust to the thermostat. One day it was well over 27C; very uncomfortable. There are no dresser drawers; no iron; limited hanging.

Our room on the 5th floor was great. Bed is exceptionally comfortable, room is well equipped and everything is very clean. More room than we could have hoped for which was a nice bonus! Really well located - centre with Forbidden City walkable and a subway station 2 minutes up the road.
Breakfast was quality. We don't come away to eat the same food we do always and love to embrace the location we are in , especially food wise. There were different choices each day and was all really tastey. I can't comment on the Western food choices as I didn't try them - but for the unadventurous there were options.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, including recommending local places to eat and providing directions.
Only criticism - tech is a little dated but who goes on holiday to watch TV?! And shower was not strong, sort of resembling a bit of a dribble, bath however was lovely.

Spent a few nights here on a solo trip. Overall an excellent experience, with courteous front-desk staff and a well-appointed room that was clean. Nice amenities, the bar, fitness studio are nice. Very centrally located to the main attractions and metro stations, plus numerous dining options of all price points nearby. Only point for improvement would be perhaps some newer furnishings/equipment in the rooms, starting to get a bit dated. But would stay here again and recommend.

If you do not speak and read chinnesse arrange with your hotel,
you can have a printed paper with your hotel name and address and ask in the airport,
chinesse people are willing to help, as long they can understand your request.
Travel agents are really good in china
Signs in all transport service are very good, systems are very efficient clear and simple
Do not use public transportation in rush ours at all
Sorry can’t answer your question as my room was booked through holiday company try the hotel direct
There is a shuttle bus from the airport to Gold Fish Ally, it is about RMB30/pax. One hour/once. And the shuttle bus stop right in front of the Novotel Peace Hotel
I cannot reply to the 'new wing/old wing' query. I would suggest contacting the hotel directly and asking which wings have finished being renovated.
Weather-wise...End of October will cooler. It usually hovers between 10-18 celcius. So a light jacket or sweater would be good.
