Tucked away in one of the liveliest hutongs in the heart of the city, this hotel is quite unique in Beijing. I stayed at this hotel for two nights and there was nothing that did not impress me. The rooms are spacious, well-designed, and have all of the amenities you need! The staff are very friendly and English-speaking. One of the highlights of this hotel is its restaurant, Toast. It serves mostly middle-eastern food, shakshuka, falafel etc.and it is by far the best Arabic food you can find in the city. Another great feature of this hotel is its location. You are within walking distance of many great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, both within the hutong and on the main road. The drum and bell towers are also just a short walk away. The one minus was that the wifi in the room was very weak, other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel for singles, couples and also for families.…
I live in an outer suburbs of Beijing. So every couple of months I try to get into the city and find a nice place to stay. Lately I stay at the bigger chain hotels. This lovely Hutong boutiqu hotel was recommended by a friend. ABSOLUTELY delightful! Hutongs are traditional neighborhoods in Beijing . They have their own flavor. But back to the hotel. It’s tucked away about midway on of the hutong alleys. Subtle sign out front marks the spot. Just a little extra paperwork during these “special circumstances.” There are maybe 10 rooms at most. I chose one of the rooms with a top balcony. Perfect to sit up top with coffee in the morning or a bevie at night. The room had the 3 Cs: cozy, comfy and clean. Honestly the bedding rivaled anything at a four-star hotel. A/c worked okay. I’m one of those pesky American women and I do get a little warm at night so they made sure I had a fan in my room the next day to help circulate the cold air. So the service is absolutely phenomenal. The wifi worked well and is free. There is a nice little restaurant called Toast which has à la cart breakfast ... not sure about lunch or dinner. I usually went out into the area for that. I highly recommend this charming place.…
Service: +++ Rooms: ++ Cleanliness: ++ Location: ++ Price: + Wifi: + Traveling with my grandmother (79!) and this was the best place to stay in this amazing but very chaotic busy city. Let me start by saying that the staff is amazing. Always someone available to help you out (reception is 24/7). Always arranging stuff and sitting at the desk to welcome you home with a smile. Also good to know, they all speak English very well. Then the rooms. They are spacious enough, clean, very nice decorated. Our only “complaint” was that the water did not get really hot all the times. We understand that the plumbing is old, but maybe still something to consider to improve. The location is great. And the breakfast is amazing. They also give you a local phone, even though we did not use it it is very helpful and handy. Thank you all for letting us feel at home. Hope to come back one day. Can absolutely recommend this place. …
This is place is fantastic! Located at the heart of the old quarter, next to the Drum and Bell Towers, this hotel is a gem. It combines the ancient atmosphere of a courtyard house with all the comforts of modern age. My room was very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast options are amazing and the people running the hotel are just the perfect hosts. If I ever go back to Beijing, I will certainly book this hotel again! By the way, do not miss the roof terrace! The views are amazing.
We just stayed at the Orchid hotel for the second time-It is outstanding with very friendly staff especially Lilly and Julie on reception and all the restaurant staff are excellent. Food is possibly best in Beijing. Bedrooms very comfortable.
