My fiance and I had a wonderful stay at the Orchid. You can tell that the staff and owner have put a lot of thought in developing an experience at staying at the Orchid more than just staying at any standard hotel. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and not only provided helpful directions and restaurant recommendations, they took the...

I arrived at 2am from Seoul to the Orchid, I must admit driving through the dark Gulou at night was a little daunting. However when the very friendly staff came out to greet me and show me around I felt right at home in a very foreign city. The hotel's architecture is stunning and the rooms are incredibly comfortable and...

We stayed here only one night, but the place was excellent. The location, service and breakfast were all great. We stayed at the Yang room, and had a private rooftop. I'll definitively stay here the next time I'm in Beijing.

The Orchid Hotel is wonderful! The staff are extremely helpful, the location is great, the hotel is clean, and the breakfast is outstanding. The rooms are not elaborate but are totally lovely, simple, and clean. The hotel gives you a map to find your way around and is happy to recommend restaurants, bars, shopping, sights to see, whatever. They also...

Had the pleasure of staying at the Orchid Hotel while on an extended layover. Hotel is in an excellent location if you're seeking Hutong "living" and the area meets your "must do list" while in Beijing. If you're seeking door-to-door service from airport to hotel, a bellman or chain hotel amenities this is not the place for you. **Ignore the...

We recently returned to the Orchid after a pleasant stay there several years ago. Without a doubt, the Orchid remains a "cool" place in the Baochao Hutong that offers excellent breakfasts amid "authentic" accommodations. However, during our April, 2017 trip we experienced a failure of communication on the part of the hotel management that leads us to believe they have...

It's a great place in the hutongs. It feels like I'm at home. (This was from my son 😀). This place is not easy to find. And staying in the hutongs is not for everyone. But if you want to stay in old Beijing and experience daily life then this is a gem! The hotel is down a small narrow...

The team at the Orchid were super hospitable to out guest, who was visiting Beijing for one month. Room was great, the view was great, and the team even went so far as to provide a cell and sim card so the our guest could find his way around. Top notch.

We stayed in many places during our trip to China and this was one of our favourites. As it is located down an alley, taxis will leave you out on the main street and it is a few hundred meter walk to the hotel - whose entrance is down another narrow alley. We were un-nerved the first time we walked...

I stayed here while in Beijing, and I was very impressed with the hotel. The setting is awesome - it's in a Hutong, one of the narrow alleyways that make up the nicest part of the city, and there are a lot of restaurants, etc., very close to the hotel. It's also very close to the Forbidden City, Bei Hai...
