September 12-19. After changing hotels last minute, we picked the cheapest thing we could find. When we arrived, it was a great surprise to find this newly renovated hotel with a western-style private bathroom. We had a huge window and a clean non-smoking room on the third floor that was completely quiet. If you are in the hallway near the...

Rooms are clean and amenities not bad. Location to palace near buy. Good little shops only minute walk away but remember not to expect much on offer. Local shop sells western breakfast to their standar. Transportation not far, which bus to take can be the problem but generally drivers very helpful. Ensure you carry a local tourist map.

In a building converted from the people's press, this little hotel has a great location on Shatan Houjie, with lots of food, easy access to shopping, metro, bus, etc. It is fairly quiet, since it is back from the street a bit, in a park that includes the old math building of Beijing University. The roof top garden/cafe is a...

Hotel very good value. I stayed in Double room as a single occupant. Had to change room on first night as it was very smokey (change was no problem to non smoking room). Location was excellent for local attractions but I was a 15 minute walk to the nearest subway. The wifi was only available in reception and was not...

Having read the previous reviews of this hotel, I was a bit dubious about staying their on our tour of China. I guess it depends whether you stay there at the start of your travels or the end! ALL beds in China are hard - trust me - unless you go really upmarket. The ones in this hotel were reasonable...

Wonderful value for such a nice hotel. Quiet surroundings in a private courtyard, with a few old buildings with character mixed in... very comfortable rooms and functional rooms, with free wired internet access in room, and free wifi in lobby. The street has some wonderful restaurants, street vendors, really local feel with welcoming people. Some refuse even tips, unheard of......

My family of 4 with 2 kids stayed here in May 2012. The hotel is within the relics of the old Peking University compound. It is very near the East gate of Jingshan Park, Beihai Park and the North gate (no entrance allowed) of Forbidden City. It has 5 floors with a small lobby with staff that speak very little...

While the place is right at the heart of the city, some taxis refuse to go inside the courtyard to the hotel because the street is busy and its hard to go in. Other than that, the hotel is ideal for solo or couple travel. The price is reasonable and not very far from the points of interests. Its just...
