The Xinyuan inn is so very close to the lakes in Beijing. Lanman Alley leads to the lakes within minutes and the alley itself is a must see. So many places to stop and brows, so very many bars and entertainment including live music to enjoy. The rickshaw rides are definitely worth it. Enjoyed every minute of the 3 days...

We stayed here twice. The rooms were comfortable and clean with wifi or a direct cable link. The staff helpful and accommodating and we stored luggage whilst travelling before returning to Bejing. Location wise. This is a popular area with plenty of places to eat nearby. The only slight negative is that it is 20mins walk from the metro and...

We stayed for 5 nights at the Xinyuan Inn and used it as a base camp for our exploration of Beijing. I'm rating it as 'very good' for what it is: a good budget choice for those who want to escape the Western hotel 'bubble,' but don't want backpacker accommodations either. Pros: - Great location within reasonable walking distance of...

We stayed here during the Beijing Olympics and we were soooo happy with our choice. We were nervous at first staying in a more traditional hotel, but when we saw the Hutong it was on and how much more authentic it was (not very western, but they do have western toilets) - we were so happy. If you're looking for...

“I guess rooms overlooking the alley would probably be nicer than the one I stayed in which overlooked some buildings but who cares I only went back to the room to sleep, spent every spare moment in the alley and at the lakes anyway... ;-)”
