The hotel is situated in a quiet street off the Central academy of Music. Its newly refurbished and very clean. Good breakfast surprisingly and friendly staff. All in all I would recommend this hotel but I can see that it may feel a bit local for foreigners.

First, the breakfast is outstanding! The staff is average: kind, cordial, a bit shy and limited English. My room smelled a bit of smoke, as well as my towels. My room would never pass my mother's cleanliness test. The shower/ bath design was rather amusing as the space between the tub and the wall collects the shower water and then... More

Across the street from the Central Academy of Music and a short walk to the subway, the location is adequate. The area is quiet, especially at night. AC doesn't come on until the summer so the window needs to be open to circulate the air. It's listed as a 4 star and it is for accomodations, restaurant, lobby, grandness, and... More

This is a local 3 to 4 star hotel catering mainly to a domestic clientele. I ended up here on recommendation from a business associate as the offices we were to visit were in the vicinity. Otherwise, the hotel's location is not close to Beijing's main attractions although the attractions are accessible via taxis and subway. The check in was... More

The Merchantel Hotel (guang dian guo ji just dian for taxis) is a local 4 star business hotel. Apart from the location just off Changan Avenue in western Beijing, there are no special attributes to highlight as a reason to stay there. Pricing is fair, but not a unique bargain. Food is average, and the rooms are pedestrian and functional.... More

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 6 or so years when teaching at the Central Conservatory of Music which is down the street from this hotel. It is a very comfortable hotel with a great breakfast, comfortable rooms, and good wifi. The room includes breakfast and was right at $100 per night. So, there are... More

Located near the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, this modern hotel has what it takes to make westerners feel at home. If you need centrally located lodging, but can't stay in the smaller "hutong" establishments, this is your place. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast buffet is awesome!

Not exactly close to the sightseeing highlights but with only 5 min to the tube, you have easy access to pretty much everywhere. Rooms are spaceous, clean and well equipped, internet access is free and works fine. The breakfast buffet is a a very mixed affair but after a few days you'll find your favourites. The restaurants in the hotel... More

I know that Beijing in large, but this hotel was really far from everything. We were on a Gate 1 Tour and couldn't really choose our hotels. We wanted to go to Hard Rock Cafe to get T-shirt souvenirs and it took 45 minutes by cab to get there. I will say, though, that cabs are very cheap (about $7... More

We stayed at this hotel while on tour in Beijing. I'd say the hotel compares to a Hilton in the states. The public areas of the hotel are clean and modern. For a westerner, the hotel carries with it a good balance of western and asian acoutrements (they have actual toilets and no holes in the floor). For the value,... More
