Tucked away in a hutong, this hostel was a lovely peaceful little haven away from the hustle and bustle of Beijing. The courtyard area was lovely and a great place to chill out in the evening and nurse sore feet from all the site seeing. We made good use of the chess set and exceptionally cheap beer one night! Great place to stay on any visit to Bejing.Location that is near to all the major attractions or on the bus line or subway to these sites. However, what makes the Courtyard House so special is the people.Rick,Rachel, and Lucy could not have been more helpful during our first visit to China. They all speak excellent English and very patient in writing out...

Location, accommodation, food ; these were the reasons why i have chosen Sitting on the city walls hostel, and i was not disappointed. Close to the Forbidden City, at the north gate of Jinshgan Park, the en suite single room was clean and comfortable. The food was good, and the staff helpful in every way.

Great location for exploring the city, this place is like an oasis of calm right in the middle of it all. Staff have been very helpful and professional, which has made for a much better experience - good advice on where to eat, avoiding being ripped off etc Trip to Great Wall run from here was excellent as well.

We stayed at Sitting on the City Walls for 6 nights in mid to late October. The best part of our stay was the friendliness and helpfulness of the partners, Rick, Lucy and Rachel. Many other TripAdvisor posters have commented on their willingness to give suggestions and directions, write the names of destinations in Chinese script, and generally look after...

I was there for 2 nights, had a wonderful stay. The double room was big, big bathroom as well. Everything clean and nice, best value for money. In general you should not look to much into the details in Chinese bathrooms and sanitary facilities. Wonderful courtyard, two computers with free internet and a nice menu to order from. Very helpful...

We stayed here for 6 nights and loved it! Rick, Lucy & Rachel were fantastic. We did the Great Wall hike through them and it was excellent experience. The food on the Wall trip wasn't good but Jingshaling was a great section. One word of advice though do not get off the van at the end of the day. Insist...

We felt at ease and in control of our trip from the moment we arrived. Don't be put off by the hutong location as its perfectly safe and a part of Beijing lifestyle...

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of a 17 day tour and loved it. The location is perfect in a quiet hutong but near to many of the sights. We walked to the Forbidden City and Tiannamen square from here. The staff are very efficient and friendly. We were given a map of the city with an info...

Stayed five nights here and very happy! So close to the Forbidden City and easy to get around by bus. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - gave us an info sheet about Beijing including sights to see and dangers and annoyances to look out for, and even told us how much we should expect to bargain at the...
