We spent the last two nights of our safari at the Tipilkwani Camp, a series of large tents on the outskirts of the Maasai Mara game reserve on the banks of the Talek river, a tributary of the Mara. It is a one hour drive...More
We spent 5 nights in November 2015 at Tipilikwani and it was the perfect Mara experience. I've done safaris all over southern Africa, but this was my first time in East Africa. Our primary concern was game viewing, but Tipilikwani went above and beyond that....More
I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2015. My tent was large to say the least – 2 double beds, a writing desk, a huge en-suite bathroom with 2 basins, a flushing toilet and a walk-in shower – none of this bucket shower melarkey...More
Tipilikwani is outside the Maasai Mara Game Reserve's Talek Gate, and though one would expect this is not as wild an experience, that is totally wrong! On the first night we had a cheetah and elephants outside our tents, and on the second, a hyena...More
We drove to the Masai Mara from Nairobi with our own car, deciding not to waste money on flights and expensive on-site safari drives. While the last 100kms (between Narok and Talek) is quite a rough ride, it was a good decision. Theo, the Tipilikwani...More

You can carry Kenya shillings or US dollars for your stay at Tipilikani camp, as your bills can be settled in either currency. It is advisable to convert some of your US dollars into Kenya Shillings in Nairobi before setting our on safari.
The normal cultural visit to a Maasai Village will cost you in the region US$ 20 per person.
Tipping can be done in either Kenya shillings of US dollars.
As you well know tipping is done at the discretion of the individual and is dependent on the level satisfaction and service provided. Driver guides are normally tipped separately at US$ 5 per person(in the vehicle) per day. The rest of the camp staff, including the back area staff are catered for by the staff tip box that is at the reception. The average rate is US$ 15 per person per day. You can tip above these limits if you so wish.
Most tipping is done on the departure date.
