We spent 2 nights there after flying to Nairobi from North Carolina and before starting our safaris. It is a beautiful property set in lush grounds with a swimming pool that reminds me of Gaudi. Our room was large and well-appointed. The house is full of attractive artifacts. We ate both breakfast and dinner there for 2 days and all our meals were excellent. We were able to use wifi in our room. The staff was very helpful. There was only one other couple there when we were so it was very quiet. We walked to the Giraffe Center in about 15 minutes. The only downside was the shower had very low water pressure and it was difficult to keep the water temperature where you wanted. Highly recommended if you want something more appealing than a standard hotel.
We stayed her in 2020 right before the world shut down, and it was absolutely delightful. The hotel staff are so warm and friendly, and the accommodations are comfortable. The breakfast was also pretty good, and we wished we had taken dinner there the night before instead of going to Talisman. But post dinner drinks, sitting out in the back listening to the calls of the tree hyrax was one of the highlights of the trip. Wish we had spent more than 1 night, and we're already talking about how we can return!
I loved our one night stay at this property. After traveling for a few days to get to Kenya, this was the perfect place to spend a restful night to catch up on sleep. I love the non-commercial, authentic feel to it that makes me feel like I’m Africa. If you’re more of a hotel person with all the boring, sterile hotel amenities, this may not be for you. Although we arrived relatively late in the evening, they willingly cooked us dinner from a surprisingly large menu. I really appreciated that they remembered my dietary restriction of low-sodium and cooked me a delicious chicken stir fry with very little sodium, which is an amazing feat. The breakfast was equally excellent, including a passion fruit juice that was the best I’ve ever had. The property grounds are gorgeous and the decorations in the main areas are so interesting that you could spend hours just looking at them. The location in Karen makes it a perfect spot if you want to go shopping. I wish we had stayed a little longer, especially to use the pool, but will definitely put this at the top of my list of places to stay when visiting Nairobi. …
We only had one night here but the staff, especially Peter the Barman, made us very welcome. They were there at 5.30 in the morning to offer breakfast to us and other fellow travellers. The furnishings are characterful and unusual and the rooms comfortably appointed. A haven en route through Nairobi. We had a delicious dinner.
This is a lovely place to stay. It has a calmness about it and the service is superb. The rooms are spacious and well equipped but do not have air conditioning. The restaurant serves food of an excellent standard at all meals. There is a swimming pool available set in lovely garden surroundings.
