I’ve travelled all over Asia and Latin America on a shoestring budget, but rarely did I find myself in a more run-down place than this. Internet (which only worked intermittently) only available in terrace/restaurant area, no electrical outlet in room, decrepit and disgusting bathrooms (no toilet seats!) and none on my floor, mouldy dirty walls everywhere, mosquito net provided was...

I stayed here as a medicine student with a 20 minute walk from my campus. Although the services and facilities could do with a lot of work, most of the staff were welcoming and warm. The biggest issue is with the Chief of Security. I have had 2 visitors both of whom were treated with utmost disrespect by him while...

I visit the YMCA on Fridays for swimming and it has an clean Olympic size swimming pool and a baby pool. If looking for a pocket friendly swimming place in Nairobi CBD this should be your pick. There us a restaurant at the premise in case you are hungry. Carry your towel, shower gel and toiletries. They have a basic...

I have visited the Y several times. On my most recent visit they accused me of being a thief and a terrorist and proceeded to search my bag and my phone for any photos I've taken of the place ( which they did not find). A friend was also accused of the same after staying there for 1 year (his...

I have stayed in the central YMCA several times, and have tried a range of different rooms (from the cheapest room with shared bathroom to the most expensive). All of them are pretty run down - mattresses with huge dips in the middle from overwear, showers with erratic hot water, leaking sinks and tattered mosquito nets come as standard. It...

The facility is old, sort of neglected and not so clean it yearns for renovation. Spiders and mosquitos hover across the rooms and the children's park is abandoned and scary. Similar foods served all the time since what is offered in the menu is so mean. The staff are not motivated thus expect poor and slow services. If you got...

The YMCA is a disgusting hostel. The rooms are dirty, taps and toilets constantly leak, and the staff is rude and unfriendly. I stayed here two separate times and both were a bad experience. The food is pretty horrible for the price you pay and it's basically the same thing every day. I was sleeping one morning and a staff...

I have stayed here probably a total of 4 times now in the last 6 months. We live in Narok and regularly make the trip to and from Nairobi to see friends or to fly around East Africa/Kenya. As flight times can be quite random and taking a long distance matatu when it's dark is asking for an accident, we...

I stayed at YMCA Central for 3.5 weeks for a student project and would not go there again. The staff was sometimes unfriendly and forgot my order about every second day, no matter how empty the place was. Breakfast was a joke, as you got a small omelette, bread (not toasted) and a sausage for 400Ksh. You can get a...

Average hotel but served its purpose. I stayed in the Nairobi YMCA for one night before flying to Holland early the next morning. The hotel rooms are basic and there was very little hot water in the showers. The ceiling of the room was mouldy but it was only for one evening so I wasnt bothered at all. I was...
