This is a fabulously beautiful place. No comparison with staying in central Luxor or in a big chain hotel. Impeccable taste. Great ambiance. Magical oasis indeed. Beautiful pool, tempts you to skip some tombs and enjoy. Don't expect USB plugs in your room (or many electric plugs either). And the wifi could use a lot of improvement. Bathrooms could also use an upgrade. Room rates are fair, but drinks and dinner are comparatively overpriced and indeed the food quality could be improved. How about some fresh jams at breakfast? But overall, great place and if it were perfect, maybe it wouldn't be as much fun.

a perfect idyll in the cradle of history, We couldn't have found it better. The ambience of the hotel complemented our trip to the Nile in a unique way. As there is so much more to see, a second stay is unavoidable. In short, Al Moudira is a hotel that can be recommended without a doubt.
The Hotel is situated in a very quiet location on the West Bank away from Luxor and the noisy hustle and bustle of a big city. Unique architecture that emphasizes the oriental flair. Ideal for relaxing before and after the streneous excursions.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished with wall paintings, handcrafted furniture and antique brass beds.
The service is extremely courteous and unobtrusive. We were particularly impressed by the cleanliness and hygiene, which is often neglected in Egypt.
Culinary wise our expectations were exceeded from breakfast to snacks by the pool and a four course menu for dinner with a wonderful setting in the beautiful courtyard of the main building in the hotel.

Al Moudira is absolutely stunning. The rooms and grounds are impeccably designed and it is the perfect oasis to come back to after a long day of sightseeing around Luxor. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and we truly did not want to leave.
While Al Moudira was perfect for us (a couple with pre-arranged transportation who enjoyed all of our meals at the hotel), it may not suit every traveler as it is ~15 minutes by car to the main town area, and further to the East Bank. For us, the seclusion was more of a benefit than a hindrance, however, if you do not have private transport or want to spend a lot of time in more central Luxor, you may find the location less appealing. We also experienced spotty wifi in our room, though it worked well in the bar/ dining areas of the grounds.
Overall, this is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places that we've ever stayed and we will absolutely stay here again if our travels bring us back to Luxor.

Everyone you talk to says that this is the best hotel in the area. It is true that it’s very unique and beautiful because of its beautiful patios and trees, also the rooms are big and lovely decorated. My favourite detail are all the sparrows you hear and see in the main patio around sunset. We also believe it’s a good location to visit the West Bank of Luxor, it’s only a 20 minute drive.
But in general, we were rather disappointed. The pool is not been looked after. There's a lot of bugs because they don’t treat it with chlorine and the sides are dirty. There was only one staff member attending the pool, so you always had to wait a long time to be able to order anything.
We went an a day trip so we thought we’d order a lunch box to take with us. This costed us 350 Egyptian pounds each (700Egp In total) for 2 little sandwiches, a juice in a brick and bottle of water (and an apple). Which is around €38, so we thought this was disgustingly expensive.
We understand that there might be some changes necessary due to covid , but the breakfast was just poor. You get 2 slices of cheese each, one plastic cup of fig jam each, some sliced fruit and a juice. You can choose how you want your eggs though. Dinner was ok but not great. We had the room most closest to the main area, and even there the WiFi did not work.
Bottom line, we had high expectations but they did not get fulfilled, at all.
We also stayed at the winter palace (costing less per night!) which was better then we ever expected! The breakfast in al Moudira can never compete with the one in the WP. As does the swimming pool. Apart from the room, the Winter Palace has the upper hand for every single thing. We know without a doubt which one we’ll choose in the future!

Upon checking in, we were proudly informed by the hotel manager that this was the best hotel in Egypt. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. The design of the place is charming but that is really the only good thing about it. Given that this is probably the most expensive hotel in luxor, the rooms are very shabbily furnished. The toilet flush wasn’t working and needed to be fixed twice so we were forced to go to the reception toilet for two days. Nothing really works in the room (phone, minibar) except for a small tv from the 1960’s I think. The shower head and mixer are not worthy of a 2 star hotel. The doors and windows have about 1-2 cm clearances.

Staff was very unhelpful, bordering on rude. We booked a table for new year’s I day in advance and when we arrived it was taken.

Food is ok but again very overpriced. You can get better food for half the price in many places in Luxor.

The place itself has no atmosphere and does not relate to or fit in luxor in any way.

Generally the worst value for money you can ever get in all of Egypt.

Absolutely amazing place to stay on the West Bank of the Nile relatively near the valleys of the Kings, queens and Nobles. Also near the workers village and several temples.
About 25 minutes to Karnak but it’s worth the drive to have the peace and tranquility in the mornings and evenings.
It’s like staying at your own palace....... the rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious. Each one has its own small private terrace. Breakfast is served in a sunny courtyard or indoors if you prefer. Plenty of options and they went the extra mile to help me with gluten free options after I mentioned this in a single email beforehand.
Dinner was a different menu each night and the choice was varied and most items were fresh.
But the real highlight was the staff. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful. To chose one person would be so unfair. Each person. Had their expertise but they supported each other which was lovely to see. Many have been at the hotel for a long time and their affection really shows.
We strongly recommend - much better than being in the middle of town with all the cruise traffic.

A stunning place. I see there is a negative review before mine and I am astonished - I suppose a really ignorant person might struggle to get from this excellent hotel to central Luxor if they didn't understand how to ask the staff for a taxi: otherwise, the Al Moudira Hotel commandeers a vast and excellent fleet of drivers, at very low cost and great speed. You just have to ask at reception.

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful places one could ever stay in. The design is fantastically beautiful and romantic. It is also extremey comfortable, and the staff are lovely. You have rooms out of the Arabian Nights; a piano bar with fantastic cocktails and staff; walkways smothered by bougainvillea and nesting egrets; huge suites with frescoes and perhaps the most elegant surroundings you will ever encounter. I miss it already.

There was nothing positive I could say about this hotel and cannot believe it has such a high nightly rate. The entrance looks so inviting but once you get inside you will find a very sad, neglected compound. Our room was cold, several lights did not work, the towels felt like sandpaper, the robes were like cardboard and there were ants in our room. The restaurant was beyond disappointing, they were unable to provide to the 14 guests in the hotel the “daily features “on the menu because they were out of some of items. They were also out of some of the very limited wines on the list. The breakfast room was freezing, it could have not been more than 40 degrees, we had to ask them to shut the doors and bring in heaters which they did, but we still had to eat in our puffer jackets. It is not worth staying at this remote and overpriced hotel.

We stayed only two nights at Al Moudira but enjoyed pretending it was our private palace. Our spacious junior suite (#2) was gorgeous, featuring hand painted walls in blue and yellow, comfortable beds and a lovely sitting area. The staff (led by Operations Manager Hamdi Eissa) were kind, helpful and lovely to engage in conversation. We especially enjoyed spending time with receptionist Ahmed Mohamed, who showed us several other suites at the recommendation of Madame Zeina, the charming owner. Each room is unique... you'll feel like desert royalty whichever one you choose. The grounds are equally stunning; I must have taken several dozen photos of all the picturesque nooks and walkways. Breakfast in the central courtyard garden is a lovely experience and both dinners we had were excellent - fresh produce, delightful flavor combinations and gorgeous plating. I would love to return someday!

This hotel is outside Luxor which enjoys the tranquillity of the local countryside. Every room is individual - and big. The buildings that make up the hotel, its courtyards, pool area etc are very special and worth experiencing. My biggest disappointment was the service. Breakfast was generally chaos and one of the waiters was rude. The restaurant served good food but again the service was chaotic - which is a real shame as it tarnished what should have been a special experience.
