Accor manage this Hotel for the owners EGOS, an organisation in the Egyptian Government. If EGOS did do all the upgrade advice that people give, the prices would go the same way as the Hilton did i.e. up! I have never known this to be a 5 star hotel. If you check the prices against the sister Hotel which is a 5star you would see the differences. Mini-Bars are not filled as most guests buy their own drinks and snacks All you have to do is ask them to fill it and they will. But it is not a fridge as such, only a cooler. They leave a small bottle of water for each guest daily. That is more than a lot of other hotels in Luxor Due to Covid they have reduced the toiletries as they would have to throw them out after you left. Breakfast - they do have a buffet. As their customers come from all over the world they try to give everyone something. But they do not do bacon & egg. Wifi - Unlike many hotels in Egypt you get it free in your room. It may not be as fast as you are used too but that is Egypt, not just the hotel Restaurant - You have the use of the Winter Palace ones, but they do have a dress code. You can have a late lunch (at the pool?) or room service. When they did have a restaurant open no one used it. Guests went out to meet friends in places where the food & drink was cheaper. The staff work hard to see you have great time and do their jobs well. If they did not, they would not have so many returning guests. Having said all that – Would I go back? Of course I would…
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights after a busy sight seeing tour around Egypt. Stay was very very nice - hotel park and pool area are beautiful. Breakfast is great. Everything is very good and price is also not too high. Would highly recommend.
A true “home away from home”. Our ninth year in Luxor and the staff was amazing like always. We had originally a booking in an other hotel before checking in Luxor. We cancelled that stay and when calling for a room they made magic happen even when it was almost fully booked.
It's an old hotel and it shows especially in the halls. But the room was spacious, clean, with a relatively fresh coat of paint, and the bathroom was fully renovated and modern. The staff are terrific, affable, friendly, helpful, from the front desk to housekeeping to bellboys. They have two restaurants but they open too late and I used their 24-hr room service instead. The food was good (except the grilled meats were over-grilled) and the prices were decent. Breakfast was standard fare but a good selection of pastries. They have an ATM but the service charge must be too high as my bank rejected my numerous withdrawal attempts. You can walk down the street to the nearby branch of the Bank of Egypt and use their ATM and ask a teller to split large bills into small ones for tips.
The hotel has some nice things, especially customer service and location. Food is okay and the outdoor areas are very pretty. On the other side the facilities need more care (updates) and cleanliness. You can tell the carpet in the rooms is not being vacuumed as there was hair all over in my room and my family's room. The breakfast is buffet style and can use more sanitary precautions especially during covid. It is ok hotel for the price but don't go expecting luxury of a 5-star hotel.
