Stayed here for 3 nights (28/Dec - 31/Dec) and had a great experience. Room and hotel facilities are a bit outdated but still good. Our room was big and with a balcony overlooking the nice garden oasis. We had a wonderful and relaxing time here. Had a relaxing early dinner by

The only USP of this hotel is the vast well-manicured lovely garden around the property where you can sit or soak in winter sun for long, or enjoy dip in a nearby swimming pool or even puff away sheesha from the sheesha parlor. The restaurant by poolside does a decent job in the

Pavilion is same Sofitel or different ???
We stayed at the Pavillion last December and will be returning again this December. It's half the price of the Palace, but you have access to all the amenities, grounds, and staff. If you are using most of your time sight seeing, makes sense to pay for a cheaper rate just to sleep in the Pavillion but have full use of all the palace perks. The rooms at the Pavillion are really nice and we'll sized too.

Yes - staying at the Pavilion Winter gives you access to the Winter Palace's concierge (who helped us with train tickets) and with reservations at the restaurant. Restaurants/bars are also open to the public. And my room had a bathtub with a shower head, not walk in.

Rooms have aircon. The review you read was for February when Luxor is quite cool, so air-con would be off. Rooms face three directions, but all face the gardens i.e. NW, SW & SE I have a Google Earth screenshot on my flickr pages but not allowed to show link here. PM for one if wanted, or just use GE to see for yourself. Pls note that this hotel is no longer Sofitel, officially, just the Pavillon Luxor

"All rooms have garden view - we had a great view from the 5th (top) floor."
"Rooms under 20 have better views."
"There are numerous mosques near the hotel. You may have a better chance sleeping through the morning call if you room looks towards the Nile"
"Rooms higher up have better garden views."
