We stayed here at the end of our trip in Egypt and booked for three nights. On arrival at the hostel we were told they did not have a copy of our booking as we had only booked a few hours previously through hotels.com. We were asked what room we had booked and we told them a double room with... More

Good location. Very comfortable sleep. Staff is very nice and extremely helpful. They will do their best to get you around Cairo the best they can and make sure you don't get taken advantage. But it's going to happen.

My husband and I stayed here and at the sister hostel Miami Cairo. The staff really make these places - friendly, relaxed and helpful. Communal areas and rooms are kept clean, breakfast was basic but fine and the beds were comfy. I would recommend that the hostels invest in new sheets and towels - meramees had better towels but we... More

At first sight Merameese hostel reminds you of an old dusty building out of Knockturn alley from one of the Harry Potter movies. Entering the hostel proper you are greeted by an old security guard who barely speaks english and you immediately spot an elevator which looks like it has been stolen from an 19th century English palace. The hostel... More

Hotel was good, if you want to stay in the heart of Cairo i.e., down town. The owner is good and helpful. The hotel is in front of Vodafone store and near to Kazaz shawarma place. Rooms are neat and tidy. They don't provide heaters, if do so it will be helpful in winters. They also provide tour packages better... More

The dorm I stayed in was more than a little lacklustre, but what can you expect for the price. The building is empty, dusty and old, and the elevator is both ancient and stylish. This place looks like it's from a movie from another time. You step inside and just imagine what kinds of stories and people this place has... More

My Friend Booked The Meramees for a couple of nights in Cairo after we had been on an organised tour. It was probably the most friendly place I stayed in while I was in Egypt. Staff were Very Helpful, Friendly, Fun. Some parts could do with a bit of a tidy or a clean, but that shouldn't put you off,... More

Its second time I am here at Meramees hostel in downtown Cairo and I am very happy. I am female single traveler and can say this place is nice and safe. Its situated in central downtown, so everything is easy to be reached and a supermarket is downstairs on the corner. A vodafone shop is on the other side of... More

Excellent management and team work by staff members, done with a smile. I stayed here 12 October 2015 for one night in a dorm. Clean, quiet, hot water. Mr. Mohamed helped me a great deal with information and travel guidance within Egypt. Good price for bed and breakfast. I will certainly use this hostel again. It is centrally located, close... The staff must belong to the most evil people in whole Egypt. Europeans and North-Americans are considered as running dollar notes and persistently lied straight into the face. They will offer you a heavily overpriced tour to Gizeh for 40 US with their corrupted drivers isolating and bringing you to expensive shops for oils and papyrus; please take the public... More
