we stayed here with our family and occupied three of the four rooms, including the family room. It was perfect for accomodating our group. The family room had a kitchen stocked with food and beverages and a cozy dining area so it made for a nice gathering space. The other rooms were more basic but did have a computer, small...

One of the most charming places I've ever stayed in. Elegant and artistic neighbourhood, perfect accomodation, traditional house. I almost don't want to share how beautiful this place has been, as I hope it will remain unchanged.

I have only good things to say about this hanok. We enjoyed every single moment there. The location is great, the family room where we stayed is pretty cool and we enjoyed the warm beds so much ( when we got to Seoul temperatures were really low). Also the landlord left us water and snacks, we had Internet and the connection was really...

We stayed in the Family Room for a week with our 3 and 5 yo children, and we loved the place. If you follow the instructions on the website, it's pretty easy to find. It's located in the Bukchon Hanok Village, which is a quiet neighborhood, but at the same time it's very near Anguk subway station and close to...

It's comfortable lodging but hard to find. It has traditional setting but no interaction with the owner. You need to call the owner to ask for directions. The room has heater which was beneficial for us.

I stayed with my son in the Family Room for three nights. This one ends up to be really pretty spacious I thought. The kitchen had all various pans, utensils, cups and glass and the refrigerator even had some eggs, milk etc. This was great as my son and I were able to enjoy cooking ourselves breakfast there which is...

Chosen by my son who lives in Korea. We arrived early and was unable to get into the guest house. It was not until a couple of hours later that we were let in by the cleaners. Jason who is the owner arrived shortly afterwards and was very helpful. He explained that he does not live on site, but can...

Just around the corner from the Anguk metro stop. A little hard to find the first time (although it is so close) you are advised to write down the directions from the metro stop word for word. Rooms are comfy with internet in each room. Withing (short) walking distance from Insadong. Highly recommended.

Close to transit, and a beautiful place. I loved the traditional Korean style and the neighborhood is filled with cafes and art and restaurants. The shower is a handheld sprayer and we had separate single beds, but I was fine with both of those. Plus, and this was a huge bonus to us - you have computer and internet in...

The place was quite hard to find, but upon calling them, the owner kindly offered to meet us at the metro exit. The rooms were a positive surprise, although sleep quality will depend very much on your neighbors as the walls are literally paper-thin! (We were lucky!) The area is nice with galleries and coffee shops. As a whole, the...

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighbourhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighbourhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
