Friendly staff were very helpful. My Room was very clean though quite small. Excellent location for metro and sights within walking distance. Very easy to get to hostel from airport taking a limousine bus stop a few hundred meters from the guesthouse. Area was good for food lots of Korean options close by. Slight problems: WiFi was terrible, connection was...

I just wanna say finding this guesthouse was a blessing for me. It was my first time travelling Solo and it turnout their place was just walking distance to some of the nice places in Seoul like Jongmyo shrine, Bukchon Hanok Villages, insadong, Unhyeongung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and many more.... It was the idea that the guesthouse is just walking...

A colleague referred this hotel to me prior to our travel. She was raving about its very reasonable price and the hotel's excellent customer service. True enough, I experienced the same excellent customer service during our stay without spending too much money. The double room was clean and it has all the basic amenities-no frills that any traveler could ever...

Yim's House became our new home upon arriving South Korea. It was our first time to visit this country and it we are not used to the very cold weather. Yim’s House made us feel better with their controlled temperature and very friendly staff named Mr. Li, John and Mr. Yim himself. They taught us how to get to places...

Stayed at Yim's House for 5 days. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is convenient for access to Seoul's major attractions and access to/from the airport. Would recommend if you are traveling to Seoul on a budget.

It was the 5th November 2014 when I first visit Seoul and choose to stay at Yim's House because of it's great value for backpackers and its location. It's really close with Changdeokgung only 2 minutes walk, 5 minutes walk to the subway station~ The owner is soooo kind and they always told me how to get into the location/nearest...

Yim's House made our Seoul visit a very comfortable one. It is 2-5 minutes walk from the bus stop to and fro the airport. Walking depends on how fast you walk!. :) Near Anguk and Jong no 3 ga station. Yim's son, taught us a short cut to Insadong which was very helpful. And gave us an idea of how...

Who would have thought you would get all this for $40? A palace at the end of the street, a subway five minutes walk away and a great shopping street for cool souvenirs a bit further on. There is even a second-hand shop, the Beautiful Store, where I got a silicon belt for $1.50. But back to Yim's. The owner...

We stayed at Yim's house from Sept 23-28 and we're lucky to have chosen this hotel. We made our booking thru email exchange with Manager Yim, he replied promptly and answered all our queries, During our arrival, Mr. Lee fetched us at 7/11 because we got lost. We also met Mr. John (Manager Yim's brother) who prepared our cup noodles...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
