My parents and I stayed at the M Chereville for a week in August while my father was attending a conference at the COEX Center. While we initially had difficulty finding the hotel as none of the taxi drivers seemed to know where it was, once we arrived, the rooms and service were excellent for our week-long stay. The M Chereville is a "serviced residence" which means that it has a suite sort of set up. We had two ample bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twins, a large bath room, a kitchenette and dining area as well as a living room. It was great not to have to spend the week simply walking around a hotel bed and we especially appreciated having a dining room table and refrigerator for smaller meals and a living room where we could relax and read. The front desk staff spoke English very well and were extremely helpful throughout our stay (they were even able to suggest what and where to buy an appropriate gift for a older couple we were visiting while in Seoul). The hotel offered complete maid service 3 days a week with towel change/trash emptied everyday if desired. A buffet breakfast is included in a small dining room near the reception desk. The food was not great, but certainly adequate. Also, there was an internet connection in the room or a couple of computers downstairs that cost approximately 50 cents for 30 minutes of internet access.

The hotel is located very close to one of the busiest subway stations in Seoul (Kangnam Station) and this made traveling about the city relatively easy. There are also lots of western style stores nearby (3 Starbucks within 3 blocks, a Burger King and Bennigans within a block, a Body Shop, etc.) and all of these have some capacity to handle English speakers so this might make the location somewhat better for those who don't know much Korean (the coffee in Korea is generally not great so for those who are used to a strong shot in the morning, it's best seek out the western influenced places). The Sarang (Presbyterian) Church which has 3 English services and a good bookstore with some English titles is also conveniently located about a block away. The suite also had a combined washing machine and dryer. While we were able to figure out how to use the washer (be warned, it took about an hour and a half for a small load), the dryer never seemed to fully dry our clothes. We ended up putting them around the room and letting the air conditioner work on them.

I would definitely recommend the hotel to travelers staying in Seoul for a while and especially to westerners without Korean language skills and families or others seeking separate bedrooms but wanting to spend time together.

We stayed at the M Chereville for 4 nights in March 2006. We were in town for a wedding, 2 adults, four small children. M Chereville was a great location for us. 1 block to the subway, 100's of restaurants in the area, a fun batting cage to blow off steam across the street.

We had a 2 bedroom with a kitchen. Table with 4 chairs, storage galore, washer/dryer combo (took 3 hours per load!). It was a good size for our family of 6. However we were told there would be 2 couches, and there was only one, so 3 kids had to sleep in 2 twin beds pushed together.

There was a continental breakfast. Very basic, but enough to get you going. The staff was friendly and had great English skills.

I would stay here again.

I found the hotel to be extremely nice. My room had hardwood floors, a super-soft bed, a fridge, a washing machine (that trapped my clothes for 8 hours because I could not read Korean), and a decent breakfast every morning. It seemed to be very centrally located as well. It was well worth the price I paid.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom family suite for 5 days in Seoul and the M Chereville Serviced Apartment was a very good choice with great value! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Because it was more of an apartment than a hotel, it had everything you needed to "live" there - whether it was cooking, laundry, etc.. if you didn't want to eat out every night or pile up dirty clothing. That being said, it is definitely showing some signs of age / wear - so it definitely doesn't feel like any cool/new hotel.
In terms of location, it is near Gangnam Station and close to the nightlife area (plenty of bars, karaoke places, dining options, etc.), so very convenient if you plan to indulge in those activities. Of course, in the morning, you also see them stumble around or just sitting on the sidewalk The staff there were excellent - all spoke English very well and accommodated all requests quickly - whether it was extra towels or changing the water for the dispenser (they provide you with those office water cooler things so you don't have to drink tap all day). They also provided us with plenty of information whether it was sightseeing, transportation, etc.
Wifi worked great. The only minor things to pick at - some of the floor space was quite dusty, so they probably could have done a slightly better job on that (they clean twice a week, but towels changed daily). If you plan to spend a lot of time at the major temples and shopping areas (Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, etc..) perhaps you're better off finding lodging closer to those locations as you need to take the train to cross the river every time from here. The trains are pretty quick and convenient, but at least you don't need to spend as much time commuting.

I've been staying in this place for almost a year during business trip at seoul
I always opt to return to this place for past 1 year because I do love this place very much.
The furniture in the room may not be so new but everything is clean n cozy. it makes me feel like home even for such a long business trip. Cooking utensil are ready for simple cooking. Room service every 2 days and the cleaner are friendly.
The 1 thing make this place awesome is its location. It is located between a peaceful residential area and gangnam most crowded area. There is a school right infront where you can jogging at the field, while a few steps away on the other side is gangnam Main Street which full of restaurant, cafe and pubs. gangnam station is just 3-5 min away.

Stayed 8 nights during our stay in Seoul . Excellent location , buzzing with life at night and walking distance to the subway .
The pros
1) location
2) size of apartment - stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment
The cons
1) room service = changing of towels and emptying the bins
2) limited utensils- we only had 2 spoons, 2 tea cups and 2 glasses
3) pillows were way too soft
4) rooms very dusty

I always come to this hotel with my family every summer we come to Korea. Every appliance is compatible and good of use. The location is awesome!!! You can go out and there will be restaurants everywhere. However, the laundry machine makes your clothes stretch and all the lights do not work. There is a lot of dust on the blankets, so our family had to buy our own blankets during our visit. Also some of the water purifiers are not checked after 3 months. There are not many cups, plates....etc.... Other than those things, the view is great and the restaurant, convenient stores and shopping places are nearby. If you need to stay for a while or a day or two this hotel in gangnam might be best for you.

We found the Milatel Chereville Serviced Apartments online through www.booking.com. (The address is 1316-31, Seocho 4-Dong, Seocho-Gu, Seocho-Gu, Seoul, 137-074, Korea, South, +8225329774, e-mail: information@mchereville.net, website: http://mchereville.net/room/room_02_e.html). BTW, the M Chereville staff answers e-mails in English! And, the reception desk staff (on the 6th floor in room 607), also speaks English and is very helpful and accommodating. Booking.com did not require that we pay in advance; we paid for our stay upon arrival (after we saw the apartment).

The total cost of our 14 night stay was KRW 1,904,000 and at .00098 exchange it came out to US$133.28 per day. Checking in was easy; the doorman, Mr. Kim, spoke English and helped us with our luggage. Have a look at pictures of the "Deluxe One Bedroom". There is a description of our "Deluxe One Bedroom" apartment on the booking.com site.

We were impressed when we walked into the apartment. Our deluxe one bedroom was 861 sq. ft. (80 sq. meters) and very well laid out. There was an entry hall with lots of cabinets for shoes and clothes, with a mirror (for Audre's final check before leaving the apartment). Then one came to a large rectangular room with a window on the far end (in 601 we get morning sun, even on the 6th floor). At the other end of the room there was a small (but well equipped) kitchen with a table and chairs at the other end. In the middle was the sofa and desk. Across from the sofa was the flat screen TV on top of a piece of furniture with cabinets, drawers and shelves for stuff. Then there was a bathroom and a good-sized bedroom with another desk, a chest of drawers, a sitting alcove with two comfortable chairs and a table, a king-sized bed, an end table and a closet. The window had good blackout curtains and, when we opened them in the morning, we had good morning sun.

There was a large refrigerator, a microwave, two stove top burners and a rice cooker in the kitchen, with pots, pans and utensils. We had a water boiler and a water machine with cold and hot water spouts. The kitchen space was big enough for Audre to work in. We typically had breakfast in our apartment, even eggs (sometimes) and a baguette and croissants from Tous Les Jours in the GT Tower down the street! If we needed any additional kitchen stuff (a toaster, an electric coffee maker or more glasses, for instance), all we had to do is ask at the reception. The apartment also had a washing machine and drying rack (no dryer).

The M Chereville says that it is "Luxury Living You Can Afford" and it is. We had a full cleaning with a change of linen 3 times a week. Towels were changed daily and the trash was removed daily. All of the rooms (and common areas) in the M Chereville were non-smoking and clean enough (yes, dust was a problem).

There very good w-fi in our apartment (with a dedicated router) and a flat screen TV with cable and a huge number of channels, including the standard ones in English. We had CNN and BBC among others. We could control the temperature of the air conditioning in the bedroom separately from that in the living room.

There was a odd feature in the bathroom. The shower had a steam feature (not working when we were there--"equipment deadlined for parts"). In the canal where the doors slide there was a hole that allowed water to drain out of the canal from the running shower and onto the floor of the bathroom. The first morning we had a flooded floor. We solved the problem by putting an earplug (that we just happen to carry for noise) into the hole. It stayed and the maids left it there! It worked.

The "gu" or district in which our apartment was located was called Seocho-gu (a part of the larger Gangnam area. It is the IT and corporate headquarters. There was also schools near our apartment building. That meant there were gazillions of students and 20-somethings in our neighborhood. It was kind of odd to see an "adult". It was also a huge area for bars and restaurants for kids to eat a small meal and drink. Those kind of places were called anju where people can eat dishes to accompany alcohol consumption. The streets were packed with young people and the restaurants were not serious, compared to other areas of Seoul.

We liked our apartment so much that we decided to stay there again at the end of October when we returned to Seoul before flying back to States. So, the neighborhood was not so bad after all.

The streets around our apartment had lots of interesting sculptures in front of the high rises. It made walking around fun. The Gangnam Station of Metro Line 2 is very close and so are lots of buses. It's a very convenient area.
