We are a family of 4 (4 adults, 1 toddler) and stayed in the Quattro room.
This room has 2 bunk beds. Bed is comfortable but pillows are way too soft.

There's a laundry room (Free washer & dryer) on the 2nd floor that guests can use if they are staying for 5days or more.
Free samples (facial products) that you can self help. At the time we were there - the samples are from Klarins. The rich moisturizer is really good! My boy's eczema acted up badly due to the dry weather and this moisturizer saved his skin!
1st floor has a common kitchen area.

There's a cosy little cafe hidden in the back alley, a lot of restaurants around, convenient shop down the street. Walking distance to Myeongdong (about 10-15mins walk), 5mins to the Chungmuro train station.

During our stay (8nights), we noted that they have only changed the sheets once.
Cleanliness could have been better as they don't clean the room properly (some hair/ trash can still be seen around despite it being cleaned).
No safe in the room, we left our ipads/ tablet in the room and it was still there.

Overall, a nice and convenient hotel to stay in.

The location is excellent and easy to access metro for other parts of Seoul. It is also near to some 24hour shops which is handy for supplies. The facilities in the room are great, I.e kettle, shampoo & bodywash, hot showers. There is also laundry services available which is useful. Our room wasn’t really as shown in the pictures and considering the amount we paid, we don’t feel like we got value for money. Staff were fairly friendly with us, but a special shout out to the hotel manager who assisted us with the missing laundry issue. Probably wouldn’t stay again purely for the price, but the hotel itself is good.

From the moment I arrived with my friend Patrick was very helpful. The hotel is nice, clean and it is well located. I would definitely recommend it. Must stay here if you come to Korea! The rooms are nice and big with all the amenities you would need and they clean it every day for you, also you get water and new set of towels every day. There is nothing I would change about the hotel. It also offers communal areas which are cozy and nicely set up

Paid around us90 for 2 nights which is definitely value for money. Room on 6th floor overlooking N Seoul tower. Decent room size to fit in 2 suitcases. Room is clean and modern pillow would be a little firmer. Located within 2 minutes from Chungmuro station with 2 24/7 mart next door. Perfect stay in Seoul!

This hotel at approximately $90 USD is very over-priced. If you feel more confortable with your first night booked then using sites like Expedia and Travelocity will do for night one. However, you can find hotels at least one star better for 10% less cost booking locally. As for the Astoria, the staff is quite good at this star rating (2, not 3). The responsiveness to requests and in particular the maid service is excellent. The on-site Italian restaurant is also very good. But to be honest, the rooms are very dated, in particular the walls and carpet. Most notably though this hotel is most frequented for sex. There is a club called Lu-lu on the second floor that offers sexual services in the rooms. I am simply mentioning this as a fact not to cast judgement.

We got the double room at 75SGD per night from Agoda.com and I am very satisfied with the hotel. It's clean, neat and with a very good location.

Nearest subway to Astoria is Chungmuro (Exit 4). If you need to use an escalator, Exit 2 will be the nearest then.

Read my blog on more information on how to get to the hotel using the subway: http://life-bite.blogspot.com/2011/04/cheap-seoul-hotel-astoria-hotel-near.html

Thank you to other Tripadvisor reviewers! I had a very good idea of what to expect going into this hotel, so I suppose my review will be similar...

This hotel is a good value and is in a good location. It's almost next door to Hanok Traditional Village, a quick taxi ride around to the major tourist spots, and not too far from Itaewon, the National Museum, Namsan Tower (there's a bus stop 50m down the street), etc. For my parents visiting Korea for the first time, it was a good choice for them. Friendly staff, clean, and a fair price considering other hotels in the area.

There were, however, a few annoyances...Firstly, no Wifi. It seems like every traveler these days really appreciates WiFi, and I imagine it can't be all that expensive to set it up in a hotel of this size, I don't really understand how they're skipping out on that.

Secondly, I knew from other reviews there were problems with the rooms being hot. My parents stayed in October, so I was hoping it wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately the days were quiet warm. The front desk told us they had already turned off the air conditioning in the building (no single units in the rooms, very unusual for Korea) so there was no possibility to turn it on. The afternoons were uncomfortable for taking a break in the room. After 2 days of this, we randomly asked them if we could have a fan after seeing one in the lobby, and they quickly let us use one...why couldn't they have offered that 2 days before??

Lastly, although it's not that important, the TV was very old, small, and the limited number of channels were grainy and blurry. Not the highest on my priorities, but again like the WiFi, it seems like a small investment in TVs that aren't 30 years old and decent cable would improve the quality of the room. Fairly small problems during a nice stay, but enough to drop the rating.

We stayed 3 nights at Astoria Hotel in mid April 2012. Apart from the strategic location - conveniently located nearby Chungmuro Station, easy access to Myeongdong, there is a nearby bakery as well - there is nothing else that we could applaud of this hotel.

The rooms are disgustingly dirty; carpets are smelly and dirty, bathtubs stained with dust and grime, dirty shower curtain.

From the professional pix, the rooms look OK but they are dated and really need some refurbishing.

Given the room rate, we could tolerate dated furniture and all, but never could stand the uncleanliness of the rooms. It was just horrible!! Will definitely not come back to this hotel, even it is for free!

On top of that, it was quite warm in the rooms and they have central controlled air-conditioning. During our stay, the hotel did not switched on the air-conditioners at all. It was really warm even at nights. So we had to resort to open the windows, and as a result, we can't sleep well as it was really, really noisy. Our room is facing the main road, even when we checked in we have specially mentioned that we prefer a room that is quiet (not facing the road).

When asked, the receptionist was very rude. She did not speak nicely to explain why the hotel did not switch on the air-conditioners on spring days. We were really baffled.

On the second night, we realised that my brand new ladies shoes (bought in Seoul and just worn once) that were kept in a box, in a plastic bag were missing. So we informed the front desk, the manager on duty came up to our room to find out more. The next day the front desk staff came with the housekeeper to find out more but we still didn't get back our shoes. On the third day, the front desk found our shoes, but they were not in the original box.

What really puzzled us was that, the shoes were kept nicely in a box, together with other shoes, far from the wastepaper baskets. Yet the brand new shoes were the only one that went missing!

Another thing was, on the third day of our stay, before they found our shoes, they showed us another pair of ladies shoes. We're thinking, is it a practice for guests in this hotel to have missing shoes that they have a couple of shoes in the lost and found???

Seriously, it's really fishy... We are glad we found the shoes but couldn't help something is definitely wrong with the housekeeping services and security. Please buck up!

Well priced and well positioned. Near Namsan mountain and the Korean village where there are performances and traditional housing. Myong Dong shopping area within walking distance. Restaurants are nearby. There is a nightclub/karaoke bar on the 2nd floor that blasts music throughout the night and can sometimes be heard from the rooms above. At the time we have been at this hotel the restaurant was under construction and due to this closed and no breakfast was available but we got every day two sweet breads, orange juice and fresh water on our room.

Location- Took the airport Limousine 6015 and alighted at Sejong Hotel. The Astoria Hotel is within sight across the heavy cross-junction and take about 10min walk. From the entrance, turn left and take a 7-10min walk to Myeong-dong shopping area. To get to Chungmuro station line 3 and 4, turn right instead. En-route, you can catch a light breakfast at the Paris Baguette a few steps away. As the immediate hotel vicinity had no eateries, (as most are selling automobile spare parts etc.), we would have to head to Myeong-dong for food. I think there is only one convenience store nearby along the major road. One plus point is that the hotel provided free pick up from hotel to Sejong Hotel to catch the airport limousine, you can check with the front desk for timing. Not sure if they provide the other route as well.

Rooms- Was pleasantly surprised when the Manager upgraded us to a Superior Twin Room when we have booked the cheapest Standard Double Room. The hotel room size was decent, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also huge in size, provided us Bathtub and a digital water closet. (Tub is really a rare find in Seoul hotels in this price category) The bathroom was much better than my previous stay in Western Co-op. They do provide us the basic toiletries and bathrobe. The only downside was there was no free wireless internet in the rooms and the room decor was dated. But they do provide free internet usage at their business centre next to the lobby and allowed us to print our boarding passes ahead of time.

If you are looking for a good-priced hotel with a decent room size, and near Myeong-dong and metro station, take Astoria. In my opinion, I feel it is value for money considering its location, four-star status and the price I have paid.
