The hanok is clean & tidy, at first we thought it might not be suitable for children but then turn out the house is exactly what the kids need to enjoy & relax. It's new build but kept as a typical hanok, we recommend to choose Gaenari room if you travel with children because that is the only one with...

This small Hanuk has only two rooms. It is also a tearoom. The charming courtyard has a lovely Dogwood tree and small garden. It is also filled with potted plants. At night the courtyard is lit up and truly enchanting. The gracious hostess is also the head of WOOFF Korea, and this guesthouse is a part of this organization that...

My friend and I stayed 4 nights at the Hanok. We chose this place as they support the farmers and has clear directions from the airport. We were not disappointed. The place is charming and just right besides Paris Baguette. There are many eateries and we are right smack in the middle of bukchon village. The guesthouse sits in nice...

I don't even know where to start. Never having been to Korea before-- or anywhere in Asia, for that matter-- I was apprehensive about customs and accommodations. I needn't have worried. Everything was strange and new, yes, but also wonderful. I felt at home and relaxed and very happy here. I don't know that I'll ever be a fan of...

Lovely hanok and cozy room. Appreciate their passion and enthusiasm to help the farmers. Location is convenient too, just 5 min walk from Angkok station Exit 3 and lots of eateries nearby. Definitely will come back next time when I was in Seoul.

Been staying in Gaenari room for 3 nights. It is a simple yet clean, tidy room. Warm sleeping on the ondol floor, nice experience! Comfortable stay here and they offer organic breakfast. Love having breakfast at their courtyard every morning! It is within 10minutes walk to Changdeokgung, Buckon Hanok Village. A must stay if you want a different staying experience.

It's in the perfect location, easy to get to and find from the airport. There are 3 rooms available around a central courtyard. The rooms come with futons which are laid out on the floor which is heated. It's not a typical hotel, the staff aren't there all the time but you can call them by phone if you need...

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the WWOOF guesthouse at the beginning of our holiday to South Korea. Taking the bus from the airport to the city, the guesthouse was very easy to find and despite our late arrival, staff were on hand to greet us and get us sorted with our room. We stayed in the Ganeri...

I stayed at WWOOF Hanok the first night after arriving in Seoul. A beautiful traditional hanok, in a highly recommended neighbourhood. It is very peaceful, and lot of attractions nearby. The staff is very friendly and will recommend things to do and suggest restaurants options. Breakfast included bread, jam, egg and tea. Shower shared with other guests. Highly recommended.

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighbourhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighbourhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Place Seoul is a Hanok style traditional Korean house with a small green garden. It is located in Bukchon, nestled among Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace(UNESCO World Heritage site), and Jongmyo Royal Shrine. Bukchon has the largest area of Hanok houses in Seoul and is one of the most beautiful residential districts in Korea. There are lots of historical spots and cultural heritage sites, galleries and cafes along the small alleys that meander like a maze. Excellent access to both traditional area and downtown Seoul. We - make bread for breakfast.- have kitchen garden and love gardening.- grow warm compost.- make what we can make by ourselves like side lamps, curtain, name card design, etc. Bukchon Hanok Village is the perfect destination for those who are seeking to learn about and enjoy the beauty of Hanok (traditional Korean-style house). Bukchon is not an official municipal name; rather, it means that it lies to the north of Cheonggyecheon (Stream) and Jongno, the downtown area of Seoul. It used to be the high-end residential district for royal family members and high-ranking government officials. ... more   less
