We stay here for 5 nights, very pleasant stay. Good location with lots of restaurant nearby. Room is clean with room service everyday. No fixed time for room service. They do the room service only after you leave the room therefore you will come back with a clean and tidy room. The room is warm enough for the cold winter....

I booked 10 nights with this hotel. I first read it as a LOVE hotel but the price was too good to pass. I stayed with my wife and my 8 year old boy and I never regretted choosing this hotel. This is the reason: 1. It is centrally located near a train station jongno3. It is also walking distance...

This is a love hotel, hence check in is super fast and no deposit required. The hotel is located at a very quiet street, yet just a few steps away from exit 4 (with escalator) or exit 5 Jongno 3-ga station of line 5 subway (purple line). The room is equipped with 2 PCs, spacious, shower area and toilet with...

Booked 2 double rooms. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are open concept. Suitable for couples but not for family and friends. Rooms are dusty, even on newly changed bedsheets but furnished with jacuzzi, bidet, big bottles of shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Rooms have 2 sets of desktops. They do housekeeping, replenish the complementary drinks everyday and change the bedsheets...

I enjoyed my stay at Amare hotel despite its reputation as a love motel. Even if it is, that should not stop anyone from staying there as the location is super convenient-only 3min walk to the nearest metro exit and the room was great for the price I paid. The reception staff spoke good English and were polite, room was...

I stayed at Hotel Amare Seoul for three nights in September. Given the relatively low prices for this area of Seoul, I expected something pretty basic, but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and the large size of the rooms. The staff was also helpful, and there was always someone around who could speak English. The hotel is in...

What a great surprise really big comfortable clean rooms , great bed linen and comfy beds, huge TV with a few English channels, spacious bathroom with...

I decided to stay in the tourist hub of Insa-dong for Seollal. The hotel location is close to three metro lines and walking distance to many attractions. Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area with variety of food selection. The hotel room was very spacious, clean and updated. Large jetted bathtub, queen size bed, big screen television. And everyone's favourite,...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
