It was propably, no, for sure one of the best hostels I´ve ever stayed in. It's years ago, but I still remebember nearly everything. I had a great time there. My arrival was the starting point for this experience. I arrived in the later evening and they already waited for me, told me my name and told me that they...

When looking for the hostel look for the Mona Lisa pig high up on the building. It is hard to find this place! A true hidden gem. The hostel owner and his staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are more than happy to answer any questions. The owner has a big bookshelf filled with travel guides and information about...

I stayed here for two weeks and it's on the fourth floor which doesn't have a lift, however the owner kindly helped me with my suitcase. It's spacious, has a nice communal area, bedrooms are clean, staff are SO lovely and always available. The reception area has a mobile phone which is available for everyone to use so that you...

Stayed here for 2 nights during the middle of the heat/humidity in Seoul, had booked 5 nights but decided a hotel was best for us. Everything was clean and comfortable, and was easy to get to other places around the city. But with the heat as bad as it was, we opted to get a hotel where we could adequately...

I've stayed here many times and it's one of my favourite hostels in Seoul. Located in Itaewon, an easy five minute walk to the centre, it's near loads of restaurants and shops, including some delicious Thai places. The dorms are clean though not very spacious, it offers a simple breakfast with hot drinks available all day, nice staff and a...

Location is about 5-10 walking distance from the heart of Itaewon (decent, but most other hostels have a better location). I think the price is high for what you are getting (or rather not getting). -The showers/toilets/washing areas are meant for both males and females. Not very clean. -The 6-bed dormitory is actually a hallway leading to 4 private bedrooms....

Tricky to find at first. Look out for the pig/Mona Lisa painting and you've found it. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Bunk beds are a bit small if you're tall like me but that's most of Seoul... Wifi is fast and reliable and there is a nice chilled area to work/watch a movie if you have a big one...

I've stayed here several times. It is located just upwards from the Hamilton hotel in a less bustling part of Itaewon. There are several types of rooms to choose from - I prefer the apartment style rooms behind the main building. Situated close to many good retaurants (indian, mexican). Downside is - they offer free tea/coffee and toast - but...

The front desk ended up cancelling my reservation after I called to check on the cancellation policy. They did not confirm the cancellation by email or by phone. They had another room available, thank god, or we would have been screwed. After I expressed my frustration that they would cancel the reservation without confirming, the desk clerk began to argue...

I tried to cancel my reservation at this hostel as I had food poisoning and can't go, yet the manager still charged me for the night, lied about having sent me emails, and was horribly rude in the process. I wouldnt stay here based on that experience alone.

Staying in Itaewon

Neighbourhood Profile
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
