Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

During my recent stay at Fairfield by Marriott Seoul, I was thoroughly disappointed with the overall experience. Firstly, despite being a Platinum Elite member, the hotel failed to offer complimentary breakfast, a basic perk that should be standard for loyalty members. Additionally, my room was not upgraded, contrary to the benefits promised for the platinum elite members. The lack of attention to these privileges made me question the value of my loyalty. To exacerbate matters, I did not receive the promised 500 bonus points on my second stay, further diminishing the perks that come with my membership. The unfulfilled commitments and absence of these essential benefits significantly tarnished my stay, leaving me with a regrettable impression of Fairfield by Marriott Seoul.

I stayed at this property after a late arrival at Gimpo Airport and it popped up in the company booking tool. What a mistake even to consider staying here; it's undoubtedly the worst Marriott hotel in all of Seoul (and yes, I've stayed at almost all of them). The air conditioning was fixed to a rather high temperature during the wintertime, and the room didn't smell fresh. Despite shutting the A/C off manually, it jumped back on every 5-10 minutes. After an hour a technician opened a window which I was before told wasn't possible. It still didn't solve the issue with the air conditioner that was constantly starting to run again, trying to heat up the room to over 20 degrees. Why is the hotel trying to mandate how warm the guest room is being set to? This entire episode lasted until 2:30 am when I eventually passed out. Absolutely ridiculous. Upon checkout at 11:30 am I was told no manager was available until 2 pm when their shift starts. What? Then the staff called the Front Desk Manager, who said he couldn't do anything without the General Manager. What kind of a clown show are these guys running here? Despite promising an email on Monday morning, that didn't happen either (what a surprise). I have already filed a complaint with Marriott. If this is how they treat a Titanium member with Marriott Bonvoy, then I fear the worst for all other customers. Stay away from this hotel!

I am currently staying at Fairfield by Marriott Seoul that left me disappointed and disrespected, prompting me to share my experience here for the benefit of future guests. Upon check-in, I was assigned a room with window panels that allowed in both cold air and the constant noise of traffic, resulting in a sleepless and interrupted night. Despite notifying the front office via the Bonvoy app, the resolution process was less than satisfactory. I first declined the duty manager's offer to check the room due to inconvenience (for obvious reasons that it was too late into the hour to do anything), yet a facilities team member arrived unannounced, causing further disruption by ringing the bell and knocking on the door repeatedly. It was clearly understood that I will look for the front desk when I am ready. The next morning, during a scheduled visit, both the duty manager and facilities staff failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the lapse in room inspection, further contributing to my experience. To make matters worse, my privacy was compromised when the facilities staff was discovered recording our conversation secretly without my consent and knowledge. A clear violation of the basic expectation of guest privacy. Given the significant impact on my stay, I requested fair compensation for the night's loss of sleep, but this has yet to be addressed. It has been more than 6 hours at the time of posting, and I was told that it is difficult for the Management to respond to me on a Sunday. There should be somebody of authority on duty, so clearly this incident isn’t being treated with the right level of attention and importance it should. A restful night is a fundamental expectation of any accommodation, and the failure to provide this has not only affected my well-being but also hindered my ability to fully engage in my scheduled activities during my stay. I sincerely hope that Fairfield by Marriott Seoul takes immediate measures to address these lapses in service quality and guest privacy. Future guests should be aware of these issues to make informed decisions about their stay.

Beautiful hotel, clean rooms, and the staff were very professional. It was very helpful that everyone could speak English and facilitate check-ins or requests smoothly. The hotel is a very short walk to the subway station, Lotte Department store, and Shinsegae mall. There are also street food vendors nearby. I could even watch Netflix (already signed in) on their TV. This is great because I couldn't understand the local TV programmes. One small inconvenience would be the crowded elevator system during peak hours, but it's something that I could probably overlook.

This hotel has served as a low cost option for us to stay in Seoul. Its right next to the Times Square mall which has great shopping and many food choices. There is a Starbucks below and a McDonalds down the street which makes breakfast easier. The yeongdongpo station is a great place to go from to visit many places in Seoul. The only downside to the hotel is if you get a station side room it can be loud, so bring earplugs. Other than that, we have enjoyed staying here several times.

This hotel would be perfect before setting off on my journey with samwise ganjee to destroy the ring…although my place in Hobbiton was bigger. If you have claustrophobia this may not be the hotel room for you….. although I can sit on the toilet and have a shower all at the same time!! If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, prepare to be underwhelmed…. No breakfast included, no welcoming drink, no upgrade, however smugness is included from the staff. You’re welcome!

A really nice business style hotel, not very old, very clean, quiet despite a relatively central location, my room wasn't too big, but quite sufficient with an open bathroom, good WiFi, very friendly staff, small gym. I only found the breakfast not so convincing, rather reduced. But there are tons of other options almost on the doorstep, including a great department store food court. Gladly again.

Have rated the hotel 1 due the following 1) Most uncomfortable setting - Tiney room, the room does not have a wall between the bedroom and the bedroom, it's all open. The basin almost touches the bed. There is just one glass door which you can use between the bathroom and the toilet. I wonder who designed a room like this. I have travelled across many countries but didn't see a place like this. 2) there is no room service 3) as a tourist in a new country there is no one at the lobby who can help you and guide you. Due to a busy hotel the staff at the reception is so busy they don't have time to attend with any other queries. Otherwise as a city all the people are warm and kind. Atleast we came across all the sweet ones

My wife and I are currently staying at the hotel for our honeymoon. We came back to our room and the shower had an overwhelming sewerage smell. We then phoned into reception to advise and they replied back with “So what do you want?” Pretty average response… they sent a maintenance person up to clean the drain which held us up with showering etc. no offer to compensate for the inconvenience which was quite disappointing.
