We travelled to Seoul in early July 2012 and were recommended this hotel by our travel agent. Normally we do our own research and book ourselves but due to the time frame we trusted the agent.
Now we were not expecting anything exciting but a hotel that we can live for a three days and have no troubles or difficulties and that’s what we got.

The Acacia is located about 5 – 10 mins walk to a large Dongdaemon area which house 3 – 4 large shopping centres and a very long street market that you can buy anything from phone covers, trainers and bags.
The train station is just a stones throw away from the hotel but the train system in Korea is anything but simple I guess it helped a little with English but with no directional pointers it’s does take a while to get your bearing.

The hotel is BASIC with some amenities, we stayed in the premier double which is slightly bigger with one tinted window and a sliding wooden curtain. The bed was ok a bit on the small side but soft after a full’s days shopping with the wife!!
I did like the computer in the room and the large TV, also the remote controls was a nice touch controlling lights and air-con. The room was cleaned daily but it really could do with a revamp the shower door leaked and the floor was scratch a lot but nothing to complain too much. Down side was no tooth brush!!

Would I stay here again? Location yes, was easy to get taxi, close to trains, close to shopping, close to local food shops. The hotel was good if you are a budget traveller or saving money to spend in the vast markets in Seoul.

This hotel is located at Dongdaemun area; where market/mall opens till 5 a.m. in the morning. That was the reason why we book a hotel at this location. Hotel accomodates for big family, they have 2 double bed in room, and another extra single bed. Big TV, and 2 PC with free wifi in the room.Yes, they also have sauna and big bath tub in the room!. It's the cheapest we've paid for a room in Seoul. Only downside is, it's located at the other end of Dongdaemun, when you are coming back at night, it's really quiet and dark.

It takes 10 mins walking to metro station, either Dongdamun or Uijiro Station.

It is more expensive than other hotels nearby, eg Western Co-op.

The room has only 1 tiny window, with no curtain...

The feeling is so bad even my room has a good view (13/F).

I have reserved a premiere double room (ie one queen size bed) for 6 nights. But when I checked in with your hotel, the hotel's staff told me that there was no double room available for me. The Hotel's staff could only offer me a twin bed room and no other option was available and hence I had to accept it because it was about 11:30 pm.

After I came into the hotel room, I found 2 cockroaches moving around the floor near the bed and then I caught them. Also the refrigerator was not working. The wifi was very poor. As a hotel guest, this was totally unacceptable and unreasonable and I felt very disappointed.

Later, I checked with the reception and was informed that I had to pay all the hotel charges if I cancel the booking. Then we moved to another room, but still found cockroaches in the room.

Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2010 for a quick weekend getaway with friends.

The best feature of this hotel must be its location. The hotel is situated between the Dongdaemun Market subway station and the Uljiro 4-ga subway station (each station about 10 minutes walk away). Right opposite the hotel is a convenience store and it only takes about 6 - 8 minutes to walk to the Dongdaemun shopping arcades (Doota/ Migliore) so you can shop till 4am in the morning and carry your goodies back to the hotel. The hotel is also reasonably close to a wet market (if you head towards the Uljiro 4-ga subway station) for those into getting a flavour of local culture.

Eat: There are two restaurants in the hotel (from memory) although we have never tried it. 24-hour eateries are available in the Dongdaemun market area (about 8 - 10 minutes walk away).

Transport: As the hotel is situated at the crossroad of two major roads, hailing down a cab is usually not an issue. The staff at the reception can always help to call a cab. We did have some difficulty locating the restaurant on our first day, so it is best to carry the telephone number of the hotel with you so the taxi driver can call the reception in case you are lost.

Rooms: Rooms are reasonably big (i.e. with room to walk in after fitting two medium sized suitcases). As someone previously mentioned on tripadvisor, there is a computer to each room (and free ethernet) which makes it easy to keep in touch with people back home (though internet speed is more like a dial-up than broadband). My only complaint is that not every room has a window and the rooms are dimly lit. Our room had an opening to the wall for fresh air, but as the hotel is situated on a main road, it is impossible to sleep with the "hole in the wall" open at night (There is also nothing to keep the hedge open.). Also the hotel had not compensated for the lack of natural light with artifical lighting - it was so dark in the room I found it necessary to read the guidebook sitting on the toilet seat (the only well lit place in the room) and put on makeup there.

It should also be noted that washrooms have an open design, with the toilet seat and the shower cubicle separated only by semi-transparent glass. The shower cubicle opens to wash basin and the corridor facing the beds so any person seeking to dry off after a shower will be in open view to the person in the room.

Rooms appear to be clean, though it is difficult to tell as it is so dark. Beds are made up every day and trash taken care of. From recollection, the beds were acceptable, though not particularly springy and the pillows were a bit too soft.

All in all, I believe there should be better hotels in the Dongdaemun area. But if you are looking for a clean, convenient hotel at a reasonable price, this can be one of your choices (but do try to request a room with a proper window).

Hotel is very convenient located. It’s between 2 stops of the airport bus 6001. Both stops just 1-2 min walk to the hotel.
In front of hotel is a pedestrian tunnel where you can walk to Dongdaemun historical park subway station. Approx 10 min walk.
Upon arrival we got our rooms upgraded. Room had a double and single bed and a small living room section. Bathroom is very big. Compared to other hotels we stayed before, this room was very spacious. Opening two suitcases was not a problem at all. Even dropping our shopping bags around, we still had space to walk around.
Would consider staying at the hotel again!

I visited Seoul in March 2018 and stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The hotel is walkable distance from Euljiro train station. I took the train from Incheon International Airport to reach Euljiro station and walked to the hotel. As this hotel is near to Euljiro Station some of the prime areas like Dongdaemun Design plaza, Ewha Womens University, Hongik University, and Myeong-Dong is easy to reach using the subway from this station. If you are returning late from Hongik area, even there is a bus that drops you at a stop near to the hotel.

About the hotel, the staff at the reception are friendly and helpful. The rooms look a bit old but well maintained and clean. I was really happy when they upgraded my booking from "Deluxe Double"to "Superior twin room" . The room and the bathroom was very big and the bed was pretty comfortable.

Room is small and shower is not that nice. The bathtub is made with wood but you dare not to take a bath as it looks moldy. The bed is ok though. It is ok for a good night sleep and you are not expected to stay in the room for the whole day.
The location is good, walking distance to the shopping area, and near the airport shuttle bus terminal, so that you can get a seat. I feel so lucky when I saw the looooong queue at myeongdong area.

Reasonable price with average room which is a bit old. There's a desktop in the room which offer free access to the Internet. 15-minute walk to the new landmark Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and the shopping malls.

I stayed at the Hotel Acacia for 5nights in Seoul which was recommended by the travel agent. The location very good.

Location
Close to several main subway stations. According to the apps:
Euljiro 4-ga (0.37km), Jongno 5-ga (0.50km), Dongdauemun History & Culture (0.54km), Dongdaemun (0.72km)

Close to 2~3 convenience stores, currency exchange shops which gives a very good exchange rate (compared to the airport and most places).

The airport limousine/shuttle bus drop off and pick off point is just less than 5mins away.

Rooms
The room is slightly to the small side but for single or couple staying should be enough. As long as you don't plan to have two oversize luggage then it should be OK. My room had a small jacuzzi which is good i thought. A nice way to relax. Two bottle of water is provided for you.

Internet
It has free Wifi service. However, some rooms (the room i stayed in) had a desktop provided for basic usage such as checking e-mails and browsing websites.

Photos
Don't trust the photos too much on website, it doesn't look that nice compared to the actual one. However, i think 70% more or less, subject to which types of rooms your staying in.

Overall
If your a tourist looking for a basic hotel near to the subway station then i would recommend this hotel. Don't expect huge amount of room space. But with free wifi service, close proximity to the stations and airport bus then yes this is great for young travelers.
