Small hotel but good location and friendly staff. Although there is a bar on the ground floor, they didn’t mind a couple of us bringing in our own bottles in the evening and drinking in the lobby, as nobody was around. Pretty good breakfast buffet but some of our group had no internet in their room. Rooms were clean and comfortable incl the bed.
Anna from the reception helped me arrange a nice little attention for my parents 49th anniversary. Great attention to detail, including pictures. Can't say much about the rooms, as I haven't stayed, but I am sure with a reception like this service must be optimal. Thank you Anna!
Astoria Hotel has one advantage: it is close to the railway station. Besides that there is no reason to choose it! The room on the 5th floor though was spacious and had a fridge as well as a balcony, it was clean. The bathroom wiulf need a bit of renovation. TV was with georgian and russian channels only. The elevator was quite moisy and kept me awake all night. Compared to other hotels i‘ve been to in Tbilisi the Astoria staff was unfriendly or actually just not at all interested in giving good service. Though it was quiet during the night, the surrounding of the hotel is a bit spooky and dark.
We reached the hotel around 8pm driving from Yerevan but were made to wait for 10-15 minutes without any explanation - seemed like our room had been allotted to someone else. However we did eventually get a room - as we were in a triple , there were twin beds instead of a queen or King !( which we were told was standard in a triple!). Water bottles were replaced daily, however cleaning left much to be desired. Spacious bathroom, but they couldn't understand we wanted a bath mat! Had to ask for one daily. Breakfast was simple, continental and local dishes. But no room service or restaurant. This hotel is less known and all cabs will end up taking you to the larger 4 star Astoria, so keep a hotel visiting card handy to explain this is near Dinamo Arena and not near Funicular. On the other side of Agmashenebeli Ave, 10- 15 min walk- many restaurants and shops. However away from Freedom Square and Old Tbilisi. The entrance has 7-8 steep steps, hence not senior friendly and need help to drag our luggage down to and from the car. TV channel had no English channel.…
We stayed in this hotel with the Hyur tour group. The driver of Hyur tour was from this city and this was his recommendation. The check in was very fast and our room had two balconies! We found two bottles of water in the room, and they even provided toothbrush and shower cap. The free breakfast was buffet.
