Stayed here for three nights two on arrival and one on departure. The reception is on the 3rd floor and I found the staff to be articulate and helpful. The first 2 nights were on the 6th floor, the room was clean and provided all the necessities including 2 bottles of water. The internet worked okay in this room however on the 5th floor on our return we could not get it at all, we had to go to reception. The first day we had a shower in the afternoon and it was fine however in the morning we had only cold water and that was the same on the return stay. The breakfast was okay and they do eggs multiple ways. the coffee was good. The room was quite noisy as it faced a busy road where people found it necessary to use their horns.
Overall I would say it was okay but there is need for improvement

Stayed as part of a tour. Staff were helpful but language was a problem. I asked for a map of the city and reception staff couldn’t provide one. That was fine except everyone else in my group who arrived early had managed to get a fold out map from reception! I also wasn’t aware of the filtered water near reception to fill up your water bottles which is a good thing in a hotel. I think some additional information at check in would have made my stay a little less confusing.

Stayed here st the beginning and end of an Intrepid tour. This is in a great location, close to many sights and places to eat. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast on level 9 looking out to the pagodas had a good selection and was fresh.

A hotel in the heart of the town surrounded by private apartments. A very good hotel with helpful staff and good sized rooms which are kept spotlessly clean. A fruit basket welcomes each guest and the daily buffet breakfast does not have much variety but is passable. Comfortable beds with good a/c and tv. The hotel is surrounded by small street stalls which offer a good variety of safe and clean Burmese and Shan cuisine at cheap prices. Very polite reception staff who needs to learn a bit more English. Location is perfect to go anywhere. Good for families and business people.

We book last minute arriving into Yangon and we wanted just a hotel to spend the night and to plan our week. It was late December so it was pretty full and the prices were pretty high so we choose this hotel mainly because it had a good central location and a fair price.

When we arrive at night we thought we have made a mistake. The area seem dodgy and in the wrong area of the city but when we went out the next morning we realize that location wise was great. Just a few blocks from the train station and the shopping area, you can easily walk the entire old city from this hotel.

The rooms were new, with plasticized floor in the entire room and a bathroom with a shower but with no shower area so it was kind of messy. We had an AC, good internet quality and the staff spoke really good english which it was a good surprise. The beds were kind of hard but we manage to sleep well and we didn't have any power cuts (something that apparently happens a lot in the city).

Breakfast was served in the last floor of the building and you have a great view of the city. You can even see the Shwedagon Pagoda easily. The breakfast was okay with local dishes mixed with some western options. Nothing really fancy.

The staff was very good and helpful. They kept our bags for the entire day while we were doing our shopping and sightseeing. I even saw people that left their luggage there for a couple of days (considering how safe Myanmar is, I wouldn't mind either). The desk staff will not arrange any tickets or tours for you but they will point you at where to go, and considering the centric location, it was okay (just a few block down the road).

We had a good experience. It was centric and good value for money. If you want something more comfortable, you have other options but we were happy with our choice. For me, is always a priority to have everything walking distance and this place tick a lot of boxes.

We stayed at the Grand Laurel when we first arrived in Yangon and Myanmar. We had agonised over where to stay - trawling through review after review, reading guidebooks and generally looking through pages on the internet!

We think we hit the jackpot. It is mid-range, although probably at the top end of mid-range, but the large rooms, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff were real advantages. We also liked the location - fairly central and easy to get to a few places on foot, or easy to grab a taxi at the front door.

We did find that taxi drivers didn't know this hotel, but when we showed them the map on the back of the hotel business card, they easily navigated to the hotel.

Breakfast was good - you must choose the night before what you want to eat for breakfast - this seems to be fairly normal in Myanmar, but is not so easy to do when you don't know what you will feel like the next day!

We were so impressed, we have booked our last night in Myanmar again at this hotel - none of the other options we had thought about were anywhere as good as this one.

While it's nothing fancy, this hotel has it's own kind of charm. The reception staff speak English, and the boys downstairs are helpful with hailing taxis and opening doors etc. Taxis are cheap here and the price is determined by zone, which can be looked up first and agreed upon with the driver before the trip as there are no meters. Grab is the share ride app.

The traditional breakfast filled our table and was tasty. The coffee was good too!

There are basic toiletries available in the bathroom, a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a room safe that we could have used if we could be bothered getting someone to unlock it.

A pool would be nice because it's hot but the room has air conditioning, a fridge and complimentary breakfast.

I would have no issue with staying here again.

Rooms are a little dated but nonetheless comfortable. Those at the front are noisy, those at the back quiet (but looking out on to a wall). Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Reasonable, varied choice of food for breakfast, including some delicious soups. Location is good for some of Yangon's main attractions. Recommended!

Grand Laurel Hotel doesn’t look like much from the outside but the hotel was a good starting and ending point for my Intrepid tour. The reception is on the third floor and very welcoming. The room was simple and had everything necessary (I especially like the condom in the bathroom.) The only issue was that my room had a door adjoining the next room and it was very easy to hear my neighbors, especially their loud television and conversation. Otherwise, it is on the main road and very convenient. There is a little foot massage place right around the corner.
