I went back to Myanmar and stayed for about a month at Cherry Hill Hotel Yangon. The stayed was very comfortable and the staff are friendly. The room is big and got bright one I requested. Thank you Ms. May for given me room 203. Kitchen utensils are provided from the hotel as a long stay guest .It is very convenient to have a shared laundry room for in house guest as well. Having a music band on Fridays and Saturdays is great for the family. I wish chef could arrange different breakfast menu options for at least every 3 to 4 every day. Overall it was fantastic!

The hotel was excellent in many ways: the food, the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was a problem for them. We thoroughly enjoyed our three weeks there. The hotel was situated in Baha’i Township - very close to the famous Shwedagon and only a taxi ride from downtown Yangon.

LOCATION:-
being near the crossroad of kabar aye pagoda & dharmazedi, and also a stone throw from one of my favourite area... Sayar San, it's really a great location. However, do note the morning peak jam southwards and evening jam northwards.

ROOM (x04):-
love the bath. it's usually one of the decision factor for me. but the bathroom door is directly facing the side of the bed. the room layout can also be improved as it is divided into many little niches, like the study table, wardrobe & kitchenette. This leaves very little space at the foot of the bed and the TV have to be mounted on the partition wall. Maybe this is only my room and my claustrophobic opinion, but i'd rather like a more open space, free of partitions. One more thing, i'd like an openable window. some fresh air in the morning would be nice but the window panels are all bolted down shut.

BREAKFAST:-
This is by far the most unique b/f served by hotel. We got to choose between japanese or western set with each a further option of main. i like the not-so-over-crowded restaurant too.

BOOKING:-
not sure how the industry arrangement but i usually cannot book this hotel within 1 week for 3 nights in a row. many would think it's fully-book, but the morning breakfast crowd indicate otherwise.

FINAL WORKS:-
would be coming back if my work doesn't require me to travel north alone kabar aye cos the facing road jam is really scary. The final decision factor still lies on whether online booking is readily available, because at that rate, there are many other hotels available within that vacinity.

The hotel is located at a highway, and yet few taxi drivers know where it is. Luckily, we always bring the hotel's card, and the taxi driver calls the hotel to get instructions about how to get there. On the first night, we tried the bar, and were served well with fish cakes we never had before. For breakfast, the offer was quite sufficient.
Our room was not a standard room (forgot the category), and it was interestingly shaped with a separate bed room and spacious bath room. The shower was with wooden floor panels, which is very good (no slippage guarantee). The bed is comfortable but the pillows are a bit hard.
Staff was very helpful in getting taxis and fixing the price (given no meter). They also fixed a packed breakfast for us when we informed them of a very early check out. There was even someone there from housekeeping to check on our room immediately to facilitate a fast check out. He must have woken up early for us...
Around the hotel, there is nothing much to see, although sights can easily be reached by taxi.
WiFi connection was good.

This is an excellent hotel if you are staying only for a week. Beyond that, it can get a little claustrophobic if you are the type to work and hang out in the hotel after 6pm and on the weekends. The hotel is right in front of a highway, and there isn't really a place to walk around in. You will have to get a taxi to go to downtown.

Make sure you book a room with a street view, as the KTV/karaoke bar noise behind the hotel can get very loud. The rooms are spartan and clean, with a refrigerator and kitchen sink. The Japanese-style bathroom is very nice. The bed is comfortable.

The breakfast place gives you two options only: Japanese or Continental. And the small cafe doesn't seem to have pastries, only coffee drinks. The staff are all very friendly and will help you get a taxi.

Don't understand why so few people post review on this hotel! Is it because it's new?

My wife and I spent 5 nights here a couple weeks ago in the middle of April right after the "Water Festival". My impression is overall positive and I would consider coming back again. However, I didn't leave without any other feelings.

1. Hotel itself is not big, definitely. It's also not in the best location (not in a quiet neighbourhood, not next to the river-front, not in business centre but right next to a busy road on a climbing slope). But the room (408) was nicely, neatly and functionally fitted out.

The furniture was simple and basic but it was just like the one you would find in hotel rooms or rooms at home in Japan. Most important of all is that it was perfectly clean. The bed linen and pillow case were snowy white and changed everyday.

The air-con might work a bit awkward if it is compared with big name hotel but is is not uncommon to find in small independent hotels in Indo-China,Thailand, India or even in residential home in many other pray of the world. It take a little time to start up after you put the hey card into the slot so just bear with it for about 10 minutes and the cold air will start blasting out from the fan.

Having said all that, the room layout was quite strange.

It was divided into two portions but split into 3 different compartments. The sitting area / small kitchenette took one half; the sleep area and the bathroom took the other half. Siting room and "bedroom" was divided by a floor to ceiling cabinet. The bathroom entrance is opened not from the sitting area or directly from the "bedroom" but tucked behind a "corridor". Furthermore, the floor area is the bathroom is actually larger than the sleeping area. So in total, I would think the total floor space of the room is at least 28 sq. meter but you don't actually feel the size.

2. The bathroom was also spotless clean. After all, it's new. And again, the towels were snowy white and soft as well. The toilet bowl was of Japanese design which people from NE Asia would really appreciate it. And, they even provide you with a set of the Japanese Yukata which was fresh and clean. So they were all what you would have expected from a decent hotel.

There's also a separate shower area so you can choose from soaking in a bath tub or taking a quick shower. The shower area sits on top of a wood panel platform and is semi- sealed off by a glass panel (to stop water splashing out onto the floor) so it's actually pretty nice. But the shower curtain the hotel put in spoils the sophisticated look. It was a piece of cheap piece of floral ( or some other) pattern plastic sheet which was actually tacky, it brought the impression down like from Upper East Manhattan to Lower East.

3. Recepiton area is small but is ok. The only thing I don't understand is why they use such a awarkward tone of "red" and they played it up so much together with blue. True, those were the I lot of the former national flag but in my opinion, it does not match up with the posh and cosmopolitan look of the restaurant/ bar next door. It could have given the hotel a few nudge higher if they choose a cooler color scheme like charcoal grey, white or black.

Having said the above, I also wosh to highlight that the breakfast was rich and filling. You will like it if you are Asian because it serves Japanese-style with a bowl of rice which could last you for the whole morning. My wife and I had absolutely no complain.

Then, the location might not be in downtown but it's actually not bad. It's very close to town ( 10/15 minutes taxi which was enticing and at $2 or $3 was convenient and "dirt cheap") and even closer to many nice restaurants ( within walking distance to Le Planteur. It is also within walking distance to the nearest western style well-stock supermarket - City Market.

LSt but not the least, the staff are just friendly and always willing to help. The smile is never missing in their faces when they greet you. When we checked out ( late into the night at around 11) , all from the front deck came out to send us off. Truly welcoming.

All in all, this property would have gotten a perfect 5 if not for those oddities. It really give you a mixing feeling, posh and international in one minute and then rough and local in another. Overal, it's not a bad one and yes, for this kind if money paid ($120/N) I can get a better rim in raja island and in China but in today's Rangoon, it's not a bad deal.

I stayed this hotel more than 20 days in total. I think that this hotel is very good vale for money because of the followings:
- Clean, new and well organized room
- Friendly staff
- Strong Wi-Fi environment (It seems to me that this is No.1 quality among Yangon hotels)
- Delicious breakfast (You can choose from 3 types of meals, Japan, Western and China)
- Nicely located roof-top bar
- Enough hot water pressure and amount with bath tub (Very difficult to find in Myanmar)
I have traveled for 1 year in Myanmar and had an experience to stay many hotels. Regarding the above advantages, I think this Cherry Hills is one of the excellent hotel you should choose and enjoy staying!
