I stayed there for 2 nights with my friend and we enjoyed the location. The only thing down is the breakfast and mosquito in the room. Plus Wi-Fi is not that good. But the guy in front reception is really helpful and even for early morning to get a bus he did a lunch box for our breakfast. It was not time for breakfast.
We went to Agga Guest House but found that our booked room wasn't available. Fortunately, a room was found at Agga Youth Hotel. It was very inconvenient and time consuming waiting around and making the change. Accommodation was adequate. The hotel / Guest House were in a good location. Toilets and Bathroom were clean.
This Guest House is pretty basic, but the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and cramped, but have a locker if you want to store your valuables (bring your own lock!). There was no window though, which was a bit odd but the beds were comfortable enough. The shower and toilet area is clean and the showers are quite nice compared to some places. There is a hole in the ceiling though, where I believe the family who owns the guest house lives. The staff is kind and arrange taxis, buses and other activities easily. There are many mosquitos in the area and they can lend you insect rackets to get rid of them in the room, which was much appreciated considering the big amount we had in our room. The wifi works well at the reception and outside, but barely in the rooms.
I stayed at Sleep-In Hostel for 2 nights and on the second night, I requested for extension for another 3rd night but was told the 10-bed dormitory was full. I had no other choice but to browse booking.com website for another dorm hostel. There are Agga B&B; Agga Youth Hostel and Agga Guesthouse located at different street in Chinatown. I selected Agga Guesthouse at the 13th street few streets down from Sleep-In Hostel at 9th street. It was US$8/- and reservation made via booking.com without any need for payment. Frankly speaking, I preferred the dormitory room here as it was more spacious and is only 6 bed dormitory not 10-bed dormitory at the same cost. The air-con is very strong and cooling and I had a good night sleep. There is a big spacious lobby area with tables and chairs and free coffee for guest interaction. I had the opportunity to make friends with some artists from Bali and befriended a Malaysian friend. I like such common spaces in guesthouse for great interaction with people over the world. The bathroom and toilet are equally clean. I found the bed mattress comfortable and clean and there were bed lights and sockets available for reading and charging by the bedside. The staff are courteous and helpful as well. The eateries around the vicinity are plentiful. I noticed a vegetarian restaurant few minutes walk down 13th street on the same lane. I certainly has no qualm staying here and I think it deserved a good recommendation.…
