I've stayed here several times. The staff are always very kind and helpful. For 40-50$ a night, this is among the cheaper hotels in the city, but with good value. The rooms are not really that cozy, but they are big, usually clean and things like fridges and TV usually work (not a given in Myanmar). The rooms with street...

I am a regular visitor to this hotel and over the years the service and maintainance of the hotel is excellent. It is one of the few hotels in the middleclass range where everything works: wi-fi, hot shower, aircon and multi channel television. The staff is very helpfull and friendly, the place is very clean as well. There is a...

Not much to add to above except that location is very handy to everything worth doing in Yangon, the rooms are basic (Australian pub style 1950's) But the infectious smiles and nothing too much trouble attitude of the staff carry it well.

Somehow that was the first thing that came into my mind when I arrived till I checked out. The hotel really tries it's best with what they have. Reasonable price in Myanmar but higher than what you normally pay in other SEA countries for a 1 star hotel. The room we stayed in did it's job with the basic necessities....

Stayed at the Eastern for two separate intervals during our 26 day visit to Myanmar. It was recommended by the cookbook author Naomi Duguid on her food blog... so we checked it out and it met our needs for a well-located clean hotel with Air Con and a fridge in Yangon. The staff, as reported by others, were extremely helpful....

Reservation per email to hotel directly went well. We paid USD 45 for a night including breakfast. This is reasonable for Yangon but surely expensive in comparision with other South East Asian cities. Check-in was efficient, staff was friendly and helpful with luggage. Almost all staff speak English well enough to communicate. Our room 605 made an old and unmaintained...

We start by thanking Ms. Thuzar for her extreme kindness in accommodating on such a short notice. We had a great room and a wonderful stay. Because the prices have gone up so much for hotels in Myanmar, we were grateful that our good room was $60 per night. We felt at home and everyone was warm, kind, and professional....

My parents and I stayed on and off at this hotel for a month, as we travelled all around Burma, this was by far the smartest thing to do. They kept our oversized luggage and excessive souvenir purchases in storage, for no charge, while we continued to purchase handicrafts from Mandalay, Pathein and Bagan. The rooms are basic. They are...

One of the worst hotels I have experienced in my last thirty years as a travel agent. Do not believe the positive reviews! This hotel is nothing sort of a doss house. If you are a backpacker and accustomed to sleeping rough and need to go to Speck-savers then just maybe give it a try. If not DO NOT STAY...
