Stayed in the Comfort Double Room on the 2nd level. The room is pretty clean and comfortable and came with a mini kitchen where one can cook and ensuite bathroom. There is also simple breakfast provided out the front at the common balcony which accessible to all guests and there is some ocean view from the balcony.
The accommodation is located approx. 5 to 10 mins' walk to the centre where there's quite a lot of dinning option to choose from and also where there is a pretty big local market.
The staff and host are friendly and will help with hailing really cheap local mini bus to the airport if required. Overall, a quiet and nice place to stay.

The hotel is at the beginning of the city on the road from the airport on the left side on a small hill. There are rooms in the main building and one separate bungalow, all starting at around $ 60. Rooms are en suite but nothing special (a bit worn and no TV etc.) and the Korean liquid gas-water-heater was a bit strange and smelled of gas. On the main building is a nice veranda with a lot of books and brochures for use. Breakfast is usually included – provided there are enough clients, otherwise you get a small discount of the room rate. The owner is a south Korean woman who lives there with her kids, despite she lives there already for many years she has to struggle to understand English and sometimes she is in a bad mood and serves the fried eggs for breakfast cooled down. But altogether it’s acceptable value, you’re in the pacific and not in southeast asia. Taxis from the airport to the hotel cost a shocking $ 20 – if you know the way you better take a minibus. It’s a 15 min walk to the city where you’ll find shops and restaurants which are in Port Vila much more expensive than in Nadi, Apia or Honiara.

Stayed at Room with a View for 11 days the room was clean, comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpfull. Breakfasts each morning were great with fresh fruit and eggs. As I go to Vanuatu regularly for work, I'll be returning. The only down side (not Room with a View's fault)was the partying from a nereby hotel on Friday and Saturday nights. Well if you can't beat them...

This place is cheap, fairly well-located (a 5-10min walk from the jetty to Iririki, etc) and was pretty clean if not cosy. The breakfast was decent although nothing special - fruit and some uninspiring pastries/cheese.
We'd booked a room for two of us at a rate of 5000VT. Once we'd arrived and stayed a night, it turned out we had been given a "twin" room which apparently cost more than a "double" (although we'd never requested either type, just a room for two, and would have been happy to share a bed). The host got pretty confrontational when we refused to pay the increased price for our first night (although we offered to pay it thereafter), and after shouting at us in front of other guests and calling us "uneducated", she kicked us out then and there - so we had to walk downtown and get a room for our second night in Vila. Not an overly pleasant experience, although I'm sure not one that everybody had.

Nice views from the balcony. Despite some traffic noise, it's a good location. Easy walk to town. The place is run on a shoe string and the owner is trying to wring every last penny out of everything. Simple things like providing enough toilet roll, soap and towels seemed to be a challenge to the owner. Some days there was no towel available unless you asked for one. The provision of a towel seemed to involve much searching and activity between the owner and her family in order to provide a dry or clean one. The poor maid has to hand wash everything because the owner has not had the washing machine repaired or replaced. I once heard the owner reprimanding the maid about counting the number of towels. The maid was very nice, but I found the owner to be somewhat quirky. One day quite friendly and the next day seemingly in a very abrupt and unfriendly manner. Also beware of engaging her in a conversation. She understands English perfectly, but has not mastered the ability to speak it in a manner which is easily understood. It becomes very tiresome. Perhaps if she was not so mean and employed a couple more maids then the place could be run quite well. Breakfast is an interesting affair. If you are staying for a few days, make sure that you eat everything. Failure to do so, may result in any item not eaten, being absent from your plate the following morning. Considering that the sun is up at 6 in the morning and the town gets going very early, it is frustrating to find that breakfast may not appear until some time between 8 and 9:30. There were fans in the rooms, some of them had been repaired with sticky tape. I am not sure if I would stay there again or not. At least you do not have to deal with an arrogant Aussie manager who plays the Beatles over and over again at 2 in the morning like one other place in Port Vila !!!!

We stayed 5 nights at "Room with a view". We had a very good overall experience, only the bathroom would achieve a lower score. The rooms were recently repainted (looking not only nice but clean too) and are big enough for a couple (not sure though that a couple with a child can fit to the same room as we were). The bed/mattress is superior - king size and hard (for us its perfect). The small fridge is inside the room, so sometimes it gets noisy but we got used to it after the first night. There is a small table with only one chair (no more space for another one) in the room and a wardrobe. The kitchen is a separate small room, with a stove and cutlery/pots/plates for 2. But the bathroom... Well, it has a strange setting... The basin and the toilet are really close to each other (its hard to move), moreover the toilet is just next to the wall, so you cannot sit on it properly :) On the other hand, the shower is big enough even for two people, it's clean and has hot water with good pressure! The room was only 4600 Vatu without breakfast - with breakfast (fruits, bread, jams, tea, coffee) its 5100. The lady who is running the place is really kind and helpful. The view from the balcony is really nice, and you even have free wifi there (not in your room, and its really slow). The market (with the supermarket) is just 10-12 minutes by foot, but buses are coming and going all the time too. A special feature was the awaking sound of the roosters each morning :)

Only 10 mins walking to the Central Market, or 20 mins if you adjust to the Vanuatuan relaxed pace 😊 Staff is really friendly and work hard to keep the place spotless. Nearby are a few restaurants, and there are some great bars at the waterfront. I also liked the kitchen in the room, used it once to cook me a juicy local steak. Recommended!

Room with a View is a great choice for budget accommodation in Port Vila. At a standard rate of no more than about 5,000VT/night, it is one of the least expensive accommodations in Port Vila. As a budget motel, you should not expect 5-star luxury. The room looks a little tired and worn but it is clean, functional, comfortable, and self-catering room - with an ensuite.
Our room had a double and a single bed, a 2-burner gas stove, a small fridge, eating and cooking utensils, and kitchen sink. The ensuite bathroom has a gas-fired hot water heater that allows for a very welcome hot shower (don't expect the kind of water pressure you get back home; you're not at home), a sink, and flush toilet. There was also an overhead fan and a standing fan. We visited in June and found the room very comfortable with the fans; the only time we found things a bit hot and sticky were after a couple of unseasonably hot days when the temperatures were high and the humidity near 100%.
The guest rooms are all on the second floor of a grand old house and have individual entries onto a common breezeway. There is a large shared balcony with a spectacular view over the bay. There are tables and chairs on this verandah where you can take your meals, including a very nice breakfast served as part of the room rate (a generous serving of tropical fruits, an egg, and a pastry, plus toast and coffee). There are also a number of chaise longues where you can stretch out to read a book in the shade of morning or the growing sun of afternoon. There are dry-lines out back of the house where you can hang things to dry. At one end of the verandah, you can access the free wifi, but be prepared for the fact that service is very very slow on the island.
The accommodation is about a 10-minute walk from the main town centre. There is a nearby dairy where you can find basic groceries. A large Au Bon Marche grocery store is beside a large open-air market about a 20-minute walk from the accommodation. It's a pleasant walk along the waterfront to get to the main town but you can also hop a bus for about 150VT if you prefer not to walk.
Downtown is a flagship Digicel store where you can purchase a Tourist Sim for your unlocked 3G phone for 1,000VT; the SIM card itself is free - the 1,000VT is immediately credited to your account. You can purchase additional top-up cards in increments as small as 500VT.
The owner speaks English as a second language and so is not well-positioned to arrange tours for you. But with a free tourist SIM card from the nearby Digicel and 1,000VT credit, the wifi available at the room, and a wide selection of brochures, you should have no difficulties organizing activities for yourself. Many activities can also be arranged in person in town centre.
Electric is 240-Volt with plugs similar to NZ/Aus.
Port Vila is a hopping little city with lots of traffic, quite substantial air pollution (especially given the small size of the city), and many people out having a good time on a Friday and Saturday night. You should expect some traffic noise most days of the week, poor air quality especially on overcast days, and the odd rooster crowing at any hour of the day or (more often) night. Friday and Saturday nights can be a bit rowdy and you should be prepared for a disturbed sleep on these nights. These characteristics are aspects of Port Vila and will be encountered regardless of where you stay in or near the town centre.
We enjoyed our stay at Room with a View. We knew that we'd booked budget accommodations and geared our expectations accordingly. We had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to stay again, given the opportunity.

Justine the owner is a kind and helpful woman. I left a jacket in the room and she drove after us to the airport. iJustine seems to be more concerned with providing a service than making a profit. The accommodation in the room is basic, but who spends time in the room? The situation is perfect, convenient for catching buses around the island and the tour guides all know where to collect you from. As has been said, if you want more, pay more. It is excellent value for money. The place seems to draw interesting and adventuress people.

We stayed two nights at Room with a View and found it to be very good value for money - certainly a great price compared to most other options in Port Vila. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed (although the bed was very hard). Fantastic balcony with view over the harbour. Unfortunately, being elevated, the property receives considerable road noise, but we kept the fan running at night which made the road noise less intrusive. Brilliant breakfast with eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, juice, selection of cereals, breads and spreads.

"The rooms facing to the street might be a bit noisy on fridays and saturdays at night but the owners are planning on renewing the windows so this sould be fixed soon!"
"If you're bothered by traffic noise, request a room near the back. But if you like the views and feeling like you're part of the life of the city, ask for a room near the front and enjoy the activity below!"
