The place was marginally run down 🥴 The staff more than made up for the short comings. Friendly, happy and willing to go beyond. Comfortably out of Port Vila, buses made it easy to move around (V150 per person to basically anywhere). Meals are well above average 😋, even though the menu was limited, pricing was good value. Safe and relaxing 👍 Highly recommended for a relaxing break.

The setting on the banks of the lagoon is beautiful ... the rooms had amazing views and were well-resourced and serviced. The breakfast was well cooked and varied ... couldn't fault it. The staff were really helpful and helped us to book taxis and catch buses. When I return next to Port Vila, this will be my preferred choice of accommodation.

We had a lovely time at Sunset Bungalows, everybody was so friendly and welcoming, a special shout out to Maria, who worked every day from cooking to reception from early in the morning to late at night, the cleaning lady and the night security man were also so lovely, he waited with us at 4.30am for our transport to arive to the airport. The rooms are nice, bed comfy and a beautiful outlook when you open the doors to the lagoon, with the water lapping up the front, the whole resort is looking a little tired, but after being hit with over 2 years of COVID and 2 cyclones this resort is still trying to recover, the only downside for us was the lack of choice in food, but was not really an issue we just got a bus into town and ate in there. The town is also still recovering a lot of places are still closed or have shut completely but all in all if you want a nice quiet place with great service and beatuiful people with clean comfortable rooms then you will not be disappointed with Sunset Bungalows.

All was well at the resort until the final morning when we had to get to the airport. We paid them ahead of time for transport to the airport. The morning they were supposed to drive us there, we waited and waited in the rain in the wee hours of the morning for almost an hour and no transport showed up. Finally we asked the "security guard" to call someone to find out what was going on. Come to find out, their van had broken down so they were unable to get there. Ummm..why didnt anyone call to tell us? We finally managed to get a bus to the airport ( paid our of our own pocket) and made it to our flight just in time. Now. We have attempted to get our money back from this place to no avail. We have sent more than one email explaining that we have given you money for transport that didnt show up, then we had to pay for a bus on top of it! Nothing from them and it has been three months since we got back. How disappointing. GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!

The people are friendly and the smiles are wonderful. The room was clean, the view was wonderful. We could sit in our deck chair and look out over the lagoon. The water was alive with fish. Relaxing in the pool was great. But like all things there are parts that weren't so good. The taps in the shower and the hand basin had to be handled just right to get some warm water for showering and shaving, don't try to add cold. When they weren't busy the food came out hot when they were under pressure with several people the food came out Luke warm. I was told that is island time.

We knew we would be happy the minute Gianne greeted us. The decor is great and the big fold back doors open out to give a great outlook over the river. The food was amazing. Easy, relaxed resort with lovely gardens, staff and pool. All the staff were helpful. Was ideal to chill out and felt away from the rest of the world in the room. Easy quick trip in to the bustle of Port Vila. Recommend.

This is our second visit to Sunset Bungalows in three years. Unlike most resorts in Vanuatu which lack 'warmth' and charm, this small resort has it in spades. The bungalows are spacious and simply furnished and there is nothing to beat the lapping of the water to lullaby you to sleep. The large balconies, which open up from the room are great for a drink at sunset (and the sunsets over the lagoon can be spectacular). The food is very good, with a range of choice and at reasonable prices. The coconut crab - though a luxury, is delicious and memorable. The cocktails, especially at happy hour are great value for money. Without a doubt, the wonderful staff - all of them, are the best asset that this resort has. Great smiles, laughs, conversation and a desire to help you as much as possible. We had great times especially with Elizabeth, Lily, Colleen and Silvie. They all work so hard to please. I was impressed by how professionally they handled a very difficult, even bullying Indian guest while we were there. What was noticeable was the absence of the new owners, If they read this, please recognise the good work the staff do in your absence.

This was a return trip to Sunset Bungalows having first visited 4 years ago. Our bungalow with its over-water deck was comfortable & spacious with a full wall of doors that open completely onto the deck. Sitting here with a drink, taking in the lagoon views was very relaxing. The shower with excellent hot water is over the spa bath so you do have to be careful as you step up and over. Amenities are provided but BYO body lotion for after-sun care. The staff are friendly and happy to help. The house keeping staff do an excellent job and Lily still makes the best cocktails in Vanuatu! Sadly you no longer get a bowl of 'Island crisps" to go with your Happy Hour drinks though. Our evening meals in the Table "Ate" Restaurant were all good, generous sizes so no desserts for us! We found the included breakfast to be more than enough for us. The pool area is lovely and we relaxed there a time or two as well! We had no problem with the wifi, it even worked in our room. This resort is quite small but seems more spacious than it is. It's on the main road so you can get traffic noise in the pool and garden area but we couldn't hear it in our room. We only stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our return visit.
