We have stayed at Fatumaru Lodge many times and we love it, it feels better then home. If you like to kayak or stand up paddling you have it right out your front balcony. (kayaks and stand up boards are provided free of charge) If you like to swim they have a pool just out your back door, the pool area has lots of shade and a BBQ you can use. You get beautiful view of the sunset that cover the sky in lovely colours which we look forward even night. The rooms have very large king size bed with a small kitchenet. The staff can book your airport transfers at the best price and they transfers staff will have a sign with your name on it at the airport gate. When taking a bus or taxi around town every driver knows how to get to Fatumaru Lodge. It about a 20 minute into town and you pass many bars and restaurants and long the way. We have plans to come back to Port Vila and we will be booking here again.

We had two glorious weeks in "Epi". The unit was clean, attractive and right on the sea. The location was great: 1.5 km to Numbawun Cafe and Au Bon Marche and the markets (do not miss these for the best veges and a decent meal)There were a few misgivings with the hot water but we soon worked that out. There were dishes and a fridge, hotplate and microwave Supplied were tea, coffee, sugar, and milk. The staff were unbelievable amazing. Helpful, professional at all times, Breakfast is served by the pool at a reasonable charge and do try the Tanna coffee it is great. The pool area had lounge chairs and a space out of the sun. Special thanks to Monique who looked after us like family. We are already planning our return to Fatumaru and the beautiful Vanuatu

We organised a family room (Luganville room) just for a night here as we needed an overnight stay in Port Vila before heading to Santo. Futumaru Lodge is not far from the airport, and has a great view. A great choice for our first night in Vanuatu and could be a great option for those not wanting to stay in a resort.

The pool was welcoming in the humidity and very clean. It’s overlooked with a comfortable lounge area. Missing tiles make the pool sharp in some areas, so young children would need close supervision.

The hotel is in a great location, within 8 minutes walk of numerous restaurants and a French bakery. You could walk further into town, but we didn’t think it necessary. The bakery opens at 6am so it was easy to collect some breakfast before our 7:15am airport transfer.

Futumaru Lodge organised airport transfers for us through Adventures in Paradise. You may be able to find a more competitively priced option. (We used a different company for our later stay at Erakor Island Resort).

If you are wanting to self-cater, this is a certainly achievable with what is provided in your kitchenette. There is an Au Bon Marche nearby in Manples and buses pass by the Lodge very regularly (or you can hire a car from nearby Europcar). We were not on that type of holiday and dined at Stone Grill, which we recommend.

If you were staying longer, the lack of couch in your room might cause some discomfort. There is a couch outdoors, though, along with dining setting.

My friend and I stayed in the two bedroom Fatumau family units with lovely views of the sea from the covered balcony. The small but delightful pool is a few, steps from these units. The staff at Fatumaru Lodge are outstanding and will do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. The basic kitchenette has all you need to prepare basic meals (we cooked inside and ate outside on the balcony). The bathroom was also good with plenty of pressure and room for two people to use.You can walk to town (about a 15 mins comfortable walk) or catch a, local bus. Free kayaks and paddleboards were a bonus!

Nice hotel a few minutes walk from the center of Port Vila. The rooms are spacious with a kitchenette, balcony sea view, everything is very comfortable.
A swimming pool complements the whole with also a nice pontoon and access to the sea.

To note: I lived at Fatumaru lodge during the earthquake, they were exceptional: restoration of the wifi connection after 24 hours (via Starlink), restoration of the rooms very fast, regular information on the situation (better than the French Embassy), food and water were brought daily free for guests.
The whole team was present, every day, despite what was happening on the island.

I highly recommend this property which has an incredible sense of service.

We had a fabulous stay here. Timothy was very welcoming and accomodating nothing was too much trouble. He was prompt at answering any questions and organising things if we needed. The place was kept clean and the staff were vigilant around the grounds.
The boutique resort is close to restaurants, markets and supermarkets. A slight hill to come back but nothing too strenuous. The accomodation is delightful and the outlook across the bay is a pleasure to look at. We stayed in the two bedroom penthouse which had a full kitchen, longe and a large outdoor area, where we spent a lot of our downtime. The 2 bedrooms had aircon but we found with the windows open and the ceiling fans it was comfortable enough to sleep in.
The breakfast is served by the pool and was ample to start the day, fresh fruit, croissant and you could have eggs and bacon if you so desired. They have kayaks for guests to use and it’s an easy paddle across the bay to the sand bank on the other side.
it is also only 4 km from the airport and walking distance into Port Vila.

Would definitely stay there again.

Great location, very easy to catch a bus into town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Well equipped kitchen, but the microwave is too high! Lovely deck for outdoor eating. The 2nd bedroom has the light attached to the fan so that you couldn't have the fan on at night time. A lot of noise from other guests, particularly early morning. However, I would stay here again.

Beautiful waterfront rooms. Very helpful staff. Loved the free kayaks.
Aircon available.
Amazing location. Good restaurants near by and close to airport. 20 min walk to Port Vila markets or 150 Vatu for a 5 min bus ride

The bathroom and bedroom roof all connected. So you can always hear the other person use the bathroom.
Wifi is only good in public areas - but that’s normal Vanuatu wifi.

Amazing location, staff and VIEW

Definitely a hostel, not a hotel (wish I knew before booking). We stayed for a few hours and bailed, getting another hotel instead.

We loved walking into our room, the layout was beautiful and the view was incredible. We had one of the ocean-view villas (bottom room on the left when you walk down – the Erromango room). However, thanks to a very annoying group of Aussie girls (who, honestly, were just enjoying their holiday) we had a group of people sitting directly outside our room on the grass. Like, we couldn’t even sit on the deck as there is no railing and we would be essentially sitting with their group. We had been travelling all day and just wanted to relax on the bed, but we were in complete view of the group and they were talking very loudly, so no respite was offered. They kept looking in, so there was also zero privacy. What’s the point in 'that' view if we have to close all the slats on the doors and windows and sit in the dark?

When sunset hit, we decided we just had to cop the non-refundable booking, as the girls returned (about 30 minutes of peace all up while they got dressed, I guess) and they then proceeded of take photos of each other for over an hour. If I hear the words, “that photo slays” one more time, I may actually throw up. Again, they were right outside our room. I felt so uncomfortable on the bed and we couldn’t enjoy the seats on the decking – as we felt creepy watching 18 year old girls in bikinis taking photos (we’re both teachers haha). It all reminds me of my early 20s and the hostel stays I used to do (although, I was always respectful – especially for people just checking in who might have been travelling all day – ladies, please think about this). We stayed until sunset ended that first day, copped the loss, and booked the Grand Hotel & Casino for the rest of our stay in Port Vila. But hey, doubled my money on the blackjack table, so all’s good.

If you’re young and not worried about privacy – definitely a great location. However, it was a romantic holiday for my husband and I, so we bailed after a few hours. Wish I knew it was a hostel before booking. Well, essentially a hostel, but with lovely rooms. Oh, gosh, and don’t try and get changed if you have one of the bottom rooms like us! We had to try and change in the small bathroom. Shout out to the IG models for stealing our sunset hahah. Sadly we won’t be back, but I will recommend to any of my graduating students who are visiting Vanuatu. I’m 32 and too old for this :)

Dear Shanmcloughlin, We're sorry to hear that your recent stay didn't meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate your feedback. It would have been helpful if you had shared your concerns about the other guests with our reception staff. They could have assisted you by speaking to others or arranging a relocation to the top floor for a more peaceful experience. This way, you could have enjoyed your balcony and the view without any disturbance, just like many other guests have at our lodge. While we understand your review focuses on the challenges you faced, we also want to highlight the positive aspects of the Lodge that some guests have experienced, such as the friendly staff, location, setting, and many more. We hope you'll consider giving our property another chance in the future, especially with significant renovations scheduled for next month. Your privacy concerns will be taken into consideration. We're committed to doing our best to ensure every guest has the holiday they deserve, allowing them to savor the beauty of Vanuatu. Best regards, Ziel

Spent 8 night here for my honeymoon. Great little apartment. So close to Port Vila. We walked into the market everyday and got fresh veg from the local stalls and cooked in our room. Amazing view from the balcony. Lots of things close by. The hotel staff were also great at addressing any issues that arose and helping to book taxi's and provide local knowledge.

Only issue was they allow smoking. We raised the issue after we had smokers next door and the smoke was wafting in. They didn't put smokers next to us again. I recommended checking with them pre booking to make sure they can accommodate this.

Dear Sir/Madam, We are located in Town on a small bay called Fatumaru Bay, the bay is not very deep and there is no snorkeling. However you can take the stand up paddle or Kayak (FOC) and snorkel on the reef about 300 meters away. You can swim in the water at Fatumaru Lodge. The beach is small but you can rest on long chair there. You can book fatumaru lodge directly on trip advisor or on our website Hope to welcome you soon Pascal - Owner
