Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was given a room on the ground floor with a kitchenette. The size of the room was great and the kitchenette very handy. It was very clean. Unfortunately the windows did not open, forcing you to pay extra $25 AUD a night for air con for a room that was $180 AUD. The screen door didn't have a key but could be locked only from the inside. No privacy, otherwise you have to keep the curtains closed all the time. The best thing about this hotel is it's location and it was very quiet. Very basic breakfast set up. Great hotel if you're not using the hotel during the day.

I travel a lot for work, and have stayed in a lot of budget motels. I thought this placed looked cute and quaint so booked my family in. The rooms were a bit run down and basic but that was to be expected. What really surprised me was the attitude from the white woman at reception, I’m guessing the owner or manager. She questioned me for asking for a couple more towels: why, what did I want them for, and in a really patronising tone told me the towels were changed at 10 for housekeeping. As hotel policy that’s fine, and had it been communicated in a polite and nice way I would have had no issue. But I honestly was floored that someone who worked in hospitality could have such a rude attitude to what must be a very common request from guests in a hotel with a tropical climate with a pool. After that I ended up checking my whole family out and moving to another hotel. There are nicer places to stay without rude and patronising staff

My last stay here was for 11 days. The accommodation is safe, clean and friendly. The ability to be able to walk to a nearby super market or to the market to get food to cook in the room was a plus point. I felt the laundry service was a bit dear but I guess its ok. The hotel owners are a nice couple. Very accomodating and understanding. The staff are as well. This was my 5th staying here from 2015. Thank you Kaiviti for the great service.

I got moved here from my resort due to the cyclones coming on March 1st & March 3rd. The owners are selfish and only care about making money. After the cyclones we had no power for three days and our rooms didn’t get cleaned. No new clean towels to offer or bed sheets (must have only had enough for each room and no spares at all) Had to ask for a mop to try mop our own room from the water flooding under the doors and the owner said “I don’t know where it is it’s floating around somewhere” same with toilet cleaner. even though we had no power for 3 days and no water for nearly 2 days the owners had no compassion and didn’t ask if we needed anything. This place doesn’t have coffee/tea/sugar in the rooms due to “supply issues” they say, yet they had coffee/tea available to purchase for 900VT for breakfast?? Just only care about the money. We couldn’t fly out back to Aus for a whole 7 nights more and we had to pay $1,100 Australian just for 7 nights even though we had no power for most of the time!!!! They had no backup generator as it “wasn’t worth it” the owner said!!! Not to mention we overheard the owner talking to one of the workers saying “what are you doing here I said I didn’t want to pay you today!” Appalled by what we were witnessing. Do not stay here.

I have stayed at Kaiviti the last few trips to Port Vila. It is conveniently located close to Bon Mache for all supplies and only a short walk to the markets and town. The pool area is excellent and well maintained. The staff are welcoming and helpful, I would recommend a stay at Kaiviti if in Port Vila

In the lockdown, i was fortunate to be accomodated at the Kaiviti Motel for about 3 months. The self contained rooms, the friendly staff and the great location (near major supermarket, parliament, walking distance to Port Vila) and good restraunts added to a great homely experience for me. While the rooms were cleaned once, the communication line with the hotel and the manager in particular was always open. They were very responsive which contributed to my memorable experience. It was home and i looked forward to coming back at the end of the day. The great thing about the rooms...(mine was Room 16) was that i could cook my own meals and refrigerate the left overs, good TV connection and firm bed. I would stay again here if i return to Vila....

Room quality very poor - needs substantial overhaul from the current 1950's look and feel. Staff are very friendly, pool side area very comfortable. Laundry shared facilities very poor - not all machines work. Other nearby hotel rooms have laundry facilities in each room. Internet and TV services very limited.

I have been to Vanuatu three times now with Rotary International on service project work mainly on Tanna Island. I have stayed now six times with the Kaiviti Resort and each time the service and assistance I have received has been first class. When arriving from Australia each time our flights have arrived around midnight and every time all has been in readiness when we finally reached the motel. My last trip in October/November 2019 was with a small team of four and again everything was first class. Each time I have stayed on for a couple of days before returning to Australia and we will continue to use the Kaiviti as our Vanuatu/Port Vila base of operations. The motel is a short walk to the Port Vila CBD and provides excellent value for money. As unpaid volunteer Rotarian team members paying all our own costs, value for money is very important.
