Detailed Reviews
Stayed 4 nights in one of the apartments. The apartment was spacious with regular sized kitchen appliances for convenient longer stays. Daily cleaning, friendly staff, conveniently located on the main road so transport to town is readily accessible. Decent view of Port Vila Bay from the balcony. The receptionist can arrange airport transfers as well if needed for 1000vt each way. If you want a real locals lunch experience I recommend crossing the street (opp Vanuatu Agricultural) and there's a daily lunch spot with a variety of meals for 500vt apiece.

Loved my experience at CM&A. Beth is the perfect hostess and helped me overcome my problems due to flight cancellations. Love her little dog, Buffy, too. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. They have a kitchenette complete with appliances and utensils. The balcony with bay views is a highlight. The location is also a plus. You can walk to town in around 20 minutes or take a taxi. It is also reasonably close to the airport. The beds are extremely comfortable with such crisp, clean bedding and the rooms are air-conditioned and have overhead fans too. I will never stay anywhere else if I stay in Port Vila.

We have stayed at The Coral for many years and this year was our first back after COVID. The Apartments still remain the best value and are exceptionally clean. Beth never fails to please. The best and most comfortable in Port Vila. You won’t be disappointed.

It was a week and a half into a 20 day stay in Vanuatu, Port Vila when my friend Kiri and I (after reviewing the bank balance and discovering how much the room rate was at the Moorings Hotel) looked at each other and said "we have to find a place to stay within our budget". The situation could become desperate, we needed accommodation, we needed it fast and we needed it to be less that $100 Australian a day.
So we started asking around and someone said "try the Coral Motel”. So with backpacks and a couple of Vatu in our pockets off we went and to say the least we struck gold when we found the Coral Motel and the owners Beth and Tony.
Within our price range, less than 2 kilometres from the centre of town, a large self contained apartment and for us, self confessed cheapie traveller's all the boxes were ticked.
The room was clean and neat, the shower had hot water (a big plus for Vanuatu), A double bed and a single meant us two single gals could spread out and have a bit of space and meeting Beth and Tony, the owners of the Coral Motel was the biggest plus of all. Beth and Tony’s care and consideration is what really makes the Coral Motel a great place to stay.
If you're looking for a great place to stay within a good price range, then make sure you see Beth and Tony at the Coral Motel.

This time it was a business trip and I stayed at the Coral again. It was no accident the first time around, the owners Beth & Tony are plainly real nice people and couldn't do enough for me. Clean rooms, nice garden atmosphere. Fantastic value for money.

Coral Motel is a great mid-budget hotel in Vila... Just a 20 min stroll and you will be in the centre of Port Vila at the markets. Beth and Tony were great hosts and assisted us in many ways!
Also enjoyed the company of their two gorgeous maltese pups! This place is deffinately a home away from home! Bonus of staying here is you get your own kitchen so you can save money on meals - the kitchen has everything you need.
I recommend this to all travellers that don't require/want 5 star accomodation! I'll deffinately be back! Thanks!

I was in Vanuatu for 4 days to deliver a workshop at the University of the South Pacific (USP) Emalus Campus and I needed the following:
- lift from the airport
- internet connection
- clean, spacious room
- privacy
- cooking facilities and gear
- eating utensils
- clean drinking water
- outside space to air my clothes
- quick access to puiblic transport
- quick access to a convenience store
- relatively close to USP
- helpful, pleasant service.
GUESS WHAT? I got all of the above and even more...
my flight connections were checked out for me and Tony and Beth lent me some cooking spices from their impressively extensive 'spice n condiments' collection. But best of all, after a 'hard day at the office' I could come back to several TV channels and Tony's even-more-impressive-than-the-spice-collection DVD 'library'.
You can't beat the Coral!!!

Our stay at the Coral Motel was fantastic from the moment that we arrived there. Tony picked us up at the motel which saved us from having to figure out the transport systems. Both Tony and Beth (and Bickie) were both like great friends and parents to us, helping us with information about the local area, allowing us to utilise their telephone to call home for free, their internet, laundry and BBQ. The rooms are very comfortable and we were even able to watch WIN tv (so I didn't miss some of my favourite tv shows!!).
The motel is quiet and has a night watchman (David) for night time. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are perfect, the towels are changed daily and the rooms are very tidy. The rooms are also accompanied by a porch area that overlooks the BBQ and garden area. The kitchen is very handy and the units have NEW fridges which is nice when you're travelling.
After spending some time in Santo and becoming ill, Beth and Tony happily prepared a room for me to return to and lay down in for half a day before we were due to fly back to Australia. Beth is very sweet and really cares about her guests. Tony has a brilliant sense of humour (just don't bring your own pillow, or you'll be bagged out!!). Both Beth and Tony take the time to chat with you and their service and hospitality is first class, which really made our trip for us.
I will definately stay at the Coral when I go back to Vila (hopefully this time I will be feeling a little better!) and recommend that you take the opportunity to stay there as well as I'm sure that you won't regret or forget it.

I have just returned from a week in Vanuatu where it was fairly hot and humid. I stayed at the Coral Motel for my trip 19 – 27th March 09.
Before I booked the Coral Motel, I had read all the Trip Advisor reviews and the forum about the Coral Motel with great interest. Some of the comments were less than positive, but I have used Trip Advisor over the past few years for hotels and information for my trips to Honolulu and the Big Island, Helsinki, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and other places. It has never let me down and did not this time.
I carefully considered all that had been said about the Coral, as otherwise it fitted my needs. The reviews on the Coral were some of the most mixed that I have ever read on T.A. But, I went with my instinct based and booked it and I am so pleased that I did. I was traveling alone on a budget and didn’t need all the spa, pools, and expensive in-resort meals and other lovely-to-have things that some people might want if on a romantic holiday or can afford the luxuries.
I wanted the best budget hotel that I could find. The Coral Motel is great if you are looking for a reasonably priced comfortable and safe hotel or motel. It’s advertised as a Budget hotel and it is. It is a ‘5 star budget’ motel. My room was very spacious, had a new kitchen and everything was all very clean. I had two beds – a queen one for me and the single one I used as a ‘horizontal wardrobe’. The bathroom had a new glass hand basin with stainless steel shelves for my toiletries (bring your own). The shower is in a bath sized tiled stall. It’s possible to have a bath but you’d never do it in the Vanuatu heat and humidity. The towels were replaced every day. The bathroom is not new, but I am fairly fastidious and I found it perfectly suited me. My room looked out into tropical palm trees. The whole atmosphere is one of friendliness and helpfulness from Beth and Tony and all the staff.
I think that when you are looking for a place to stay and consult Trip Advisor, you need to take a lot of time and really look up all the comments and see if the comments align with what you need on that particular occasion. I also looked at the Coral website etc. When I was at the Coral I met a number of the people staying there: Europeans, Aussies and a ni-Vanuatan family. Two from Melbourne had left another hotel as it was overpriced and came to the Coral to save money and were very happy they did. I spoke to a number of people on the tours I was on who were staying at various expensive resorts and many of them were suffering without air conditioning as they only had ceiling fans. I had both ceiling fan and aircon, and I am so pleased I did. I put the fan in the aircon up high to block out any noise as I am a light sleeper and it was fine.
Before I arrived, I had quite a few questions of Beth and Tony and emailed them a number of times. They always replied the same day, or by the next morning with a polite and helpful answer whatever any little thing I needed to know. If I am considering a hotel or tour company and they don’t reply within 24 hours, I see this as a good sign to go someplace else.
Beth and Tony were very easy to get on with and friendly and helpful. They suggested that I waited until I arrived to book all the tours that I wanted to do. I was a bit unsure of that, but I’m glad I did as they told me which ones did what, made recommendations, and then booked it for me once I decided. I went on a round island tour w’ Gilbert of Atmosphere; spent a day on Lelepa Tour w’ Lelepa Tours; went to the Mele Cascades/Waterfall by just catching the “b” bus; to Hideaway Island and to Iriki Island. They also gave me the suggestions on lots of little things such as shops, where to get a good coffee, how to tell the sweet grapefruit etc. etc. I went to the fruit market almost every day and bought kilos of fruit for breakfast.
I also left some spare time for relaxing in the aircon in my room. Beth would let me choose a DVD from their 1000s and put it on so that I could watch it in my room. On the TV was also Aussie Channel 9, the Movie Channel and the National Geographic channel, so there’s was always something to veg out to for a while.
There was one small hiccup, which Tony and Beth remedied immediately without any prompting and I was pleased about the professional way they handled it. It’s also very convenient to be picked up and dropped back at the airport.
One general Vanuatu warning, I saw heaps of people with bad sunburn. I was amazed even after years of telling us the dangers - that it causes skin cancer and makes you look like a prune before you are ready to look that old, that people seemed to get redder each day I ran into them around town. Please bring 30+ SPF and use it all the time, especially if you are talking anti-malarial tablets.
Have fun, I did!

I can't believe this place is number 1 on tripadvisor. Yes the room was clean, big and spacious and certainly big enough for a family of four however the bath/shower was disgusting (look at the photo). Yuk!!! We thought we were getting Bay Views but our tiny little balcony looked out onto the Motel parking area, the road and trees.
We decided to move out after 2 nights ( would of moved out after the first night but couldn't get in anywhere else) we told Tony only to be told that because we booked for 5 nights we would have to pay for the whole 5 nights. We informed him that we were not happy with the bath/shower and was told by him "to go to Consumer Affairs". Spoke to Bev later in the day, she did offer to move us to another apartment but we just wanted to move out. We landed up paying for 3 nights and stayed for 2.
This Motel is difinitely a 'no frill' place and would best suite young backpackers who really only need a place to sleep. We as a family didn't like the location, there were no bay views and not really a place you could sit outside and enjoy the view or let the children roam around.
We spend 9 nights else where and had a wonderful time.
Basically you pay for what you get!
