We have just returned from a really enjoyable week at Tropicana Lagoon Resort. The resort is in a pleasant location on Erakor lagoon, close to regular and efficient bus services to Vila. Staff are friendly and helpful and the management go out of their way to ensure guests enjoy their stay. Kim and Freddy provided us with great service. Thank you!

Absolutely loved my 5 nights staying at Tropicana Lagoon resort. The grounds are well kept with a lovely pool, small restaurant and bar area on the lagoon and beach. Had 2 dinners here that were delicious. The room is clean, comfortable with everything in working order and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Staff are the loveliest and very helpful. Everything about Tropicana Lagoon is relaxed and feels like home :) Paradise just a little out of port villa centre, very easy to catch a bus anywhere (negotiate day trips to tourist sites with your driver) we paid $7600 for a day trip to three locations for 2 people. Great to have your own driver and knowing you can spend as long as you like at places without being on a schedule. Overall, highly recommend Tropicana Lagoon resort for accomm in beautiful Vanuatu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at this relaxing, quiet and beautiful resort. The little restaurant was great especially with Olivia's smiling face greeting us for breakfast and dinner and thanks to Sarah in reception for recommending and booking a couple of tours for us which were fantastic. The resort was a few kilometre's out of Port Vila (thank goodness) but very easy to catch a local bus at the front of the resort into Port Vila and a handy supermarket about 5 minutes walk. We used the pool at the resort daily along with the free kayaks. Our family had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and recommends the Tropicana Resort for your trip to Vanuatu.

Very disappointed - nothing like the website photos, very old, dated and more like a backpackers. A very costly exercise - we only stayed one night and lost money on 6 nights due to it being inside their cancellation policy. Very convenient for them seeing that it looks like a regular occurrence where guest check in and leave (without their money). You cant swim in the lagoon and it's far from town. Stay away.

My friend and I recently stayed at Tropicana Resort and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The lady at front desk and the chef were the most amazing, friendly and helpful people. The chef’s cooking was superb and by the second meal, he used to suggest dishes for us for dinner and they were all great.

Beautiful location on the lagoon and close to town. Very good value for money with good food and lovely staff. Our flight was delayed and didn’t arrive until 3 am and was still able to check in without any hassle.

Hi Guys.. thank you so much for the review. We didn't see a lot of you because you were off doing your own things, but when we did, enjoyed our chats. So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay here. Getting used to the late arrivals.... OMG! Anyway, good luck with your studies and maybe we'll see you both again one day.

Great holiday place, people were beautiful and friendly. Chef was the best I have ever tasted. Was beautiful sitting at the restaurant looking on to the lagoon and sitting back and relaxing. Will definitely come back again and bring family as well. Pool was excellent to swim in and cool down.
Love you people as you are friendly and easy going.

Husband and myself stayed for a week. Bought package which fell through, no real reason given and we continued direct booking with Tropicana. Paid extra $500 for end 2bed rooms, as assured we would have privacy there. The deal was less than we had been offered originally....only one evening meal instead of three for instance.
This is our experience. We opened wardrobe to hang clothes, no rail or shelves. No blankets or doonas for beds. Welcome pack claims extra bedding on top of wardrobe, lol. Sheets 'bobbly' and dingy, pillows flat and terrible, had to pile up four to support neck. Fridge not working. Was replaced by one which kept leaking pools of water on floor overnight. TV unwatchable. Four big circles along bottom where screen had been damaged. Was replaced, but sound was terrible and only one channel of the three could be watched. They advertise they have cable. Told staff who just smiled. Electric went off, toilet didn't flush properly and sometimes gurgled and 'regurgitated' (sorry for description). Vanity hanging off wall. Whole bathroom grubby. Water pours across into kitchen when shower used. There are basic cooking facilities but no extractor fan and no smoke alarms.
I must mention my so called privacy. Handyman was lining a cabana next to our room and used electric saw and hammering every day we were there, including when I was lying on sun lounger next to him. I asked several times for him to do it when we went out but again, just smiling and ignoring.
Tropicana is opposite a village of 300 locals, who enjoy a good scream, let their dogs bark and have loud and long revivalist type religious events, which can go on quite late.
It is a way out of town and there is nothing in the immediate vicinity to do.
It is definitely not child friendly. I felt quite sorry for a couple just arrived with two young children. The pool is I unfenced next to the restaurant, as is the open fast flowing (this evening) lagoon.
I won't start on about the Sunset cruise, which was just catching a water taxi back from Coco Beach, their other resort where you are dropped for an afternoon. The boat wouldn't start and we were driven back in bus. Nothing was offered in place of course, but then I wouldn't have expected anything from these people. Don!t waste $3000 coming to Vanuatu like we did, go to Surfers or somewhere and keep the money back home.

Very disappointed with our holiday we arrived to our room being told it was private and one of the best rooms considering we were there for my partners birthday
I had emailed ahead and asked if they could help me to organize something special for him exchange 2 emails and meeting the owner who gave away my efforts and than no further contact about a special night for him
The room was private being at the end but almost every morning and night was awoken or kept awake by non guests having gatherings out side the massage hut on the lagoon.

The air-conditioning was broken when we arrived but quickly fixed, we had a microscopic TV with 4 channels that reapeated constantly, our shower had two temperatures either scorching hot or freezing cold.

Wifi was a luxury we had no connection what so ever in our room had to go down to the pool but than still had to search ending mostly in a notice on our phones saying (error obtaining IP address)

The staff were pleasent but just seemed dis interested and not trained well in there jobs, in the seating area at reception we were often greeted by an abundance of random men sitting and chatting also SPITTING wearing plan clothing staff were in full uniforms.

The complimentary breakfast was fruit and toast with butter and jam, the fruit sometimes being spoiled the toast rock hard and no varying in the spreads.

Very easy to walk out the front a grab a local bus for only 150 VT each into port vila town but once in there realizing it was very small with not alot of options to eat we often found ourselves searching for food.

No shopping centers no food courts, not really much to do overall we were very disappointed with our holiday.

You will not get the vanuatu you were expecting.

There are a number of suites (roughly half) at the Tropicana that are on the ground floor. However, the hotel is about 1 1/2 - 2 kms from the down town area where most of the activities take place. There are taxis available and one would probably be needed regardless in the main down town area since parts are quite hilly and not suitable for a lot of walking around, if using a walker. Sites (i.e. museum, cultural centre, fresh food market) are somewhat spread out, although there are good restaurants and shopping spots in relative proximity in the town centre. The hotel can arrange for taxi service and their rates are quite reasonable. Hope this helps in your decision-making.
