I've stayed here twice over the last year and in that time the Seaview Lodge has had good reviews, and poor reviews - all of which are probably true. The hosts Franz and Gudrun are in turn both charming and puzzling, the decor always overwhelmingly eclectic Germanic/Pacific (especially at Christmas) and the food bizarrely inappropriate (at times). You've just got...

Clean, central location and welcoming hosts. Nicely rennovated garden and wooden ornaments. At times the place felt a little highly strung in its atmosphere but as a hotel you couldn't fault it on the basics.

I stayed at this place 2 nights, both when I arrived in Tonga and when I was leaving. I thought the rooms were quite average--I tried both seaview and 'garden' view (if a wall is a garden...) The decor is sort of kitschy. Both times, I felt like the attitude of the owners was that I was lucky to be...

Owners are nice, everything is clean, location is good too - a 10 min walk to the King's Palace. Sleep quality is superb, feels like a country-side home. Tea, coffee, snacks, mini-bar. It's pricy too, but I understand it costs a lot to maintain these high standards in Tonga

My review would mirror exactly what darryl065 from tauranga NZ said. He gave them a rating of three if you want to find and read it. We went last September 2011. To add some interesting aspects of our visit... Other reviews talk of the gourmet chef, but all evening meals were very salty and buttery. And the garlic bread was...

Well situated just minutes from the commercial centre of town, yet quiet and private in its own space. Facing the sea with the benefits of a cool breeze in the evening and endless scope to use the kayaks available at the property. Nicely decorated, but fittings a bit fussy and worn for my taste. European breakfast available, with toast and...

The Seaview Lodge is an experience you’ll not forget. Our seafront room had a magnificent view across a quiet street to the ocean, which was just yards away. Swimming out to the edge of the reef, some 150-metre-distance, was an experience of a lifetime. Located a couple of minutes walk from the Royal Palace and a few minutes more to...

I highly recommend Seaview Lodge. Excellent. It was a Hotel-Highligt on my trips through the South Pacific. The entire house, all the rooms always perfectly clean, beautifully furnished and decorated in Gudrun’s very special style, the garden beautifully maintained. Gudrun is the perfect host who really cares for every single guest. Franz does a great job with his wonderful food....
