A lot of people are told that the place to stay in Niue is the Scenic Matavai Resort. The thing about staying in the resort is that it is on its own about 20 minutes drive from Alofi and you end up just staying and eating there especially if you don't want to rent a car ro have a few drinks in the evening. If you do want to get a good feel of island life and to mix more with local people, it pays to stay near in or near the town centre where you can walk down to market, and go to the different eateries and bars or hang out in the square in the evening. Taloa Heights is 5 minutes walk from the town centre and are run by the lovely Judy and Jane who cannot do enough to make you feel welcome, while at the same time respecting your privacy. The units are of an extremely high standard, cosy and has all the facilities you need for a self catered holiday. There is a really nice swimming pool and seating area for you to enjoy. And its very reasonably priced and the views from the unit of the ocean are amazing. I cannot recommend Taloa Height and its lovely host enough. Thanks so much Judy and Jane for making our stay in Niue a very memorable one.

A great place to stay as its central to Alofi and the many local cafes/eateries and easy to walk to.
We stayed in the bungalow and although it had no tv, we loved it.
It has free internet but don’t expect starlink lol.
The pool was great as was the caretaker and we would recommend people stay at Taloa Heights for it’s laid back approach.
Niue is a place to relax. The local people are very friendly. If you enjoy snorkelling, sight seeing and eating great food and a chance to relax then you will like what Niue has to offer.
This accommodation has an island style atmosphere, which we loved.

We have just had 2 weeks in Niue Island staying at Taloa Heights. They are just getting going again following being shut down for so long due to covid. The pool has been renovated and is really nice and I was in and out of it all day from 8am. Some things were still not working like the TV(which we could do without) and the stove which we couldn't ,so they got us a 2 element bench top cooker to use, which was ok for our use. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa which was very nice.
It is ideally situated within walking distance of the wharf, the store and some cafe/bars

We had one of the tree top cabins. It was compact but we spent most of our time on the balcony with amazing views of the sea. The shower was awesome and the bed comfortable. The bonus of the pool and bbq was terrific. We would definitely stay here again.

I visited Niue for the second time with my husband (we previously stayed at the Matavai Resort in 2013), and this time brought my parents and chose to stay at the newly built Taloa Heights Villa in Alofi (the main town).
We were very happy with our spacious villa with Two Bedrooms, a Loft, dining and lounge area and bathroom, complete with wraparound decking and BBQ. It was very handy to have a 'home away from home' base for our adventures around Niue. We rented a Mitsubishi Pajero from Willie's Niue Rentals, which is essential on Niue as there is no public transport. Transfers from the airport are included with Taloa Heights, but it was handy to pick up the car at the airport and drop off on our final day.
Taloa Heights has a lovely new swimming pool up the hill slightly, and everything has been beautifully landscaped around the stunning rock formations. Couldn't fault the cleanliness and the kitchen was well equipped with utensils and all the mod-cons.
Enjoyed being able to wander down to the Markets early morning, and swim at the nearby Utuko rock pools next to Crazy Uga Café. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance also, including Falala Fa and Vaiolama Mini Golf and Café.
Absolutely love the charm and uniqueness of Niue and would highly recommend to anyone with an adventurous spirit who wants to escape the usual commercialism of other Pacific resort destinations. Fishing paradise and great for whale watching and snorkelling in crystal clear waters. Taloa Heights is a great choice for those wanting to be independent and have the convenience of self-catering for some meals. Great supermarket on Niue, and other vege and fruit markets around the island.

Judy was at the airport waiting for us when we arrived and showed us to our car straight away. She then led us and three others back to Taloa Heights. The units here are just beautiful, quite new and have all the mod cons you would want. they also have a great view out over the bay from your balcony even though you aren't on the cliff face. Judy lives next door so is there if you need anything. You are a very short stroll down the hill to the main street of Alofi and some great restaurants/cafes, the Yacht club and shops. you can walk to everything. we had car hire included in our package and enjoyed driving around the island and to the great snorkling spots. there are fans and airconditioning in the units but we found with the bathroom door open at night it was beautifully cool. There are free laundry facilities and snorkling gear for you as well. It was just a great place to stay and being right in the main town area we had everything within a few minutes walk. I would highly recommend to anyone heading to Niue that you stay here. thank you Judy (accom) and Willie (car hire). Your friendliness and attention to detail made our holiday memorable and so enjoyable.

We were looking for a new experience in Niue , having made numerous visits , and Taloa Heights fit the bill. Being in ' town' we could walk to dinner most nights , breakfasts and coffee at Crazy Uga ,and for the first time I explored the various sea tracks around Alofi.Reef walks at low tide an eye opening bonus. The Yacht Club, supermarket and wharf are all within a very close walk .
Taloa hosts were friendly and very accomodating. Our fale was clean, serviced regularly and very comfortable .
We will return .

I was collect promptly from the airport by Judy who greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile, she also took the time to point out local points of interest on the short trip to Taola which was appreciated for orientation.

I stayed in Matamaka, one of the studios units directly above the pool and it was perfect for me in every way. The bed and pillows were excellent, super comfortable with good quality linen. The aircon unit was positioned directly above the bed but was practically silent [with load of different modes] so didn't impact on sleep quality or create a disturbance.

It's the little things that make the difference at Taloa as despite the limited space they have thought of and provided everything you could possibly need during your stay. As I was there for a little under 2 weeks I appreciated the clothes horse with pegs that was on the deck and inside the studio were hooks and coat hangers for my clothes allowing me to unpack and settle in for my stay. On my arrival tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, soap, shampoo and conditioner was available which as a weary traveller is always appreciated, room service every 3 days [ample] and the kitchen was extremely well stocked for basic meal preparation [pan cooked or microwaved].

Ample powerpoints are well positioned around the studio which itself is well designed for maximum use of the space and a good sized TV is positioned on the wall [opposite the bed] that was great for catching up on the island / community news and activities at night. WIFI is slow but steady and I had no issues connecting with a variety of devices [both apple and android].

The lovely wooden floors keep you cool under foot and are super practical when you're walking in from the outdoors or directly from the pool. Despite the studio being positioned above the pool there was very little noise from other occupants which hardly impacts on the use of the outdoor furniture which is available on the deck [of the studio] which consists of table and chairs and an amazingly comfortable 2 seater couch which many an hour was spent in.

The grounds, units and pool are well maintained with care and attention to detail, and with Taloa being so well positioned in Alofi its not hard to see why this facility is a such a favourite with travellers.

spent 7 nights in one of the 'tree top' units which was just right for a couple. bonus having powerpoint on deck where we cooked using the hot plate & ate all our meals outside !
the pool was delicious for a dip after snorkeling.
pleasant & unobtrusive hosts.
we didn't make use of the 2 mountain bikes available though they were new & in good condition.
great location being able to walk into alofi & to utuko reef, (fave spot), also the activity on the wharf and lovely sunsets.
saw whales from our deck too.
10/10 for facilities and comfort, would totally recommend.
