Located in the village of Lakepa, on the eastern side of Niue Island, Lialagi was originally a school that was abandoned back in 1989 and has now been lovingly restored by the people of Lakepa under the leadership of the village assembly member Kupa Magatogia.
Today, it offers unique and comfortable accommodations for travellers to the island of Niue.

I have stayed at Lialagi 5 times over the past 7 years or so. I have fond memories there with my family. Kupa and Mary are excellent hosts. They are helpful, informative, kind and absolute joy to deal with. Over and beyond is the best way to describe their hospitality. The facility offers all amenities needed for a comfortable stay, it has fridges, big freezers, bbq, a gym and a huge field to yourself. The privacy and space is what I always admired there. At night this privacy and space offers you a beautiful view of the milky way galaxy, priceless. We have also stayed at Taoke fales next to Lialagi - Kupa and Mary also look after this one.

Lialagi is awesome for families! We had the best time. Spacious with all the facilities you need. Mary & Kupa were super friendly & helpful, going over & above. Always a call away or a drive next door. Close to 2 walks that we did - Lakers sea walk and Tautu which was a 10min drive to the next village Liku. Fakaaue lahi Mary & Kupa - you’re such an incredible couple. Our time was unforgettable xx

Used Lialagi as a recommendation from a past visitor and wasn't disappointed! We traveled as part of a large family group so needed alot of space, beds, bathrooms. Lialagi has large rooms with comfortable beds and lots of room for storage. A huge kitchen which came stocked fridge with bottles of water and fresh coconuts. Utensils plates, oven, microwave and freezer space for local foods you may acquire during your trip. More than enough toilets and bathrooms to cater for our travel group with a full laundry. Very peaceful and extremely clean. We have been back a week now and cannot speak highly of our time at Lialagi. Thank You Kupa and Mary for your hospitality during our stay, we look forward to rebooking real soon!

My impression of the recent visit to Nuie was very positive and my heart is still in love with this beautiful Paradise of an Island. The accomodation and amenities was only surpassed by the warm hospitality and service provided. The natural surroundings had our 3yr old granddaughter in awe of the show quality free range chickens and roosters running around. She named all the roosters Hey Hey from the movie Moana. The hostel accomodation which as a large family have used both in 2017 and 2014 for the Siligi Reunion was kept clean and the hosts were very accomodating to our requirements once again thank you very much to Lialagi .

We are a family of five, that travelled to Niue unsure of what to expect. What an adventure and wonderful time we all had!
Staying at Lialagi with Mary and Kupa as our hosts was by chance, but turned out to be the best decision of our entire trip. The facilities were great value for money, modern and clean. Everything you would hope for in a down to earth setting.
Mary and Kupa were incredibly accommodating of our needs – ensuring our stay with them, and the country they are so proud of was just right. Our first day started with a traditional meeting at the airport, followed by great tips on the local shops, tour of our new facilities and then fresh coconut drinks by a setting sun – this set the tone to a wonderful stay for some weary travellers. Throughout our stay the communal fridge always had fresh local fruit and there is unlimited coconuts in the front yard for you!
Plenty of space for big groups or families – a front yard green and big enough to hold your own football game if you have the players. There is also accommodation upstairs for couples or singles.
Niue has so many areas to explore at nearly every turn. Lialagi is a little, but beautiful trek from Alofi. The community is welcoming and the weather wonderful. We ran out of time now wishing for our return trip.
If you want to reconnect with loved ones, host a big group, get great value for money or simply go home from your holiday truly relaxed, Lialagi is the place for you.

For our first visit to Niue we stayed at Matavai. But for our second visit we booked the downstairs unit at Lialagi and had an amazing 10 days of rest and relaxation.. My partners cousin Mary made us feel so welcome and after 10 days we didn't want to leave. We saw a lot more of Niue this time and love it's beautiful snorkeling pools and rugged caves. Lialagi was very clean and tidy. With clothes lines out the back for drying our clothes. A small fridge, jug and toaster (for our delicious coconut bread) was really all we needed. We met other people from Lakepa Village and got up early every morning to wave to the school bus! If you want a private relaxing holiday I highly recommend Lialagi. A huge thanks to Mary, Kupa and family for making our holiday so very special.

I'm a NZ Maori with a beautiful Niuean princess and with 14 others, we stayed at Lialagi in Lakepa for 2 weeks. We all enjoyed the facilities at Lialagi, it was professionally looked after, we used all the rooms and units available, showers, toilets, kitchen and the big hall to relax after our long day and to plan our next day out. It's such a beautiful accommodation and it embraces the Niuean culture, with its wall coverings and Niuean art through out. Its awesome. What can we say about our hosts? Well to be honest Mary and Kupa are very, very busy people but had no problem to sort out any need that we had from something big to something small, even had time to take us sightseeing and Uga hunting. Their kindness and generosity to care for our every need, outstanding. Our holiday wouldn't have been so successful if it wasn't for them, even picking up our luggage from the airport to dropping it of. All in all we rate this place along with its hosts as 5 stars, bigger groups than ours would be comfortable there to.Thank you Mary and Kupa for your vision to create this place from what it was.
