Detailed Reviews
We loved our stay at Petite Hatava. it was a highlight of our stay. Most comfortable, attentive host, close to Alofi and all amenities, easy travelling distance from all the attractions to be had in Niue. We would have loved to have stayed longer and would stay again if the opportunity presents.
Loved the ceiling fans, modern, up to date decor, cleanliness, perfect location to relax and holiday.

Room Tip: Take ear plugs if you don't find roosters crowing at random times an acceptable local quirk.

We spent 2 weeks on Niue, staying at 4 different accommodations. We chose Petite Hatava, as it was close to town - which is great if you want to eat out and try some of Niue's restaurants. There is an oven/stove and full size fridge if you want to self cater. Petite is new, well built and clean, with a good bathroom & washing machine. (Water is solar, so if there is no sun for a few days it will start to cool down. No AC, which generally isn't a problem, but note apartment faces west - so you get the afternoon sun. Roosters were noisy, as with a lot of places on the island. Would recommend Petite Hatava if you are looking for a clean, modern, well maintained option centrally located with easy access to the majority of restaurants on the island. As the units are new, improvements are still taking place. Tanya was most welcoming, and left us to our own space, but close by and helpful should you need anything.

This little gem of a place is fully self-contained and well-located for the airport, supermarket and a short trip into central Alofi. The units are fresh, well-maintained, clean and have everything you need for a stay in beautiful Niue. Tanya is a friendly and accommodating host (she immediately supplied any extra kitchen items we needed), and having the option to pick the fresh coconuts and paw-paw in their garden is a real bonus. The kitchen is well equipped (and we were welcomed with milk, bread and other basics, which was a nice touch). The fans are quite adequate at this time of year (August) and the windows - importantly - have good netting to keep the insects out. The water was solar-heated - a nice environmental touch - and the internet is surprisingly fast for Niue (you buy top-ups through the office in Alofi...while being online isn't cheap on the island, it is certainly a lot better than it used to be and we were able to have good quality WhatsApp/Skype calls using the ADSL in the unit). While you won't be getting a sea-view here and the roosters - much like anywhere on the island - will let you know when dawn comes around, it is a well-priced and comfortable option that it well worth considering and offers much more, dollar for dollar, than a lot of the alternatives we looked into.

This was a very nice place to saty with clean comfortable accommodation and cooking facilities if required and a washing machine. It is close to town and a great location from which to explore the island with a rental vehicle.Tania picked us up at the airport and helped us hire a vehicle after a quick orientation tour of town. ( you might want to hire a vehicle before arriving to make sure you get one ) There was no wifi available. Lovely spot for a relaxing holiday with lots for great snorkeling nearby. bring a book and be prepared to chill.

Petite Hatava was a perfect experience. The self-contained little house had everything I needed, and it was beautifully clean and comfortable, and quiet and peaceful (but be prepared for crowing roosters!). Tanya and her team were great hosts, very quick to respond to my requests and very helpful, e.g. providing a ride to pick up groceries. The location is perfect, although not oceanside, as it is very convenient for both Avatele and Alofi (even if, like me, you don't have a car, it is an easy walk to shops and services). Lovely sunsets!

Everything was perfect! Great location near main shops, restaurants and airport (all within walking distance). Our host Tania is a consummate host. She picked us up at the airport, gave us lots of good information, and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We loved the location right next to the NZ High Commission's building, and a short walk to Swansons grocery. Tania had stocked the fridge for us before we arrived. But of course we wanted to try food and fun everywhere we could find it. And we found soooooo many great people and beautiful snorkelling areas. As avid snorkelers, we have sought out 20 or more well-known hot spots. But Niue is perhaps the finest of them all. We snorkelled inside cavers, in a chasm, Hio Beach, Limu Pools, and (most fish I have ever seen) Avatele Beach (near Washaway cafe). Petite Hatava was the perfect home base to explore all these locations (many by foot and some by car, which is a necessity to get to Washaway cafe). The unit is completely separated from Tania's house. So plenty of privacy, space to cook, relax, play with pups or look at free range chickens that populate most of the island. But Tania is just 10 meters away. She lent us a knife from her kitchen to crack a coconut. Great fun! Thanks, Tania and family!!! You all helped make our experiences in Niue truly memorable. We are already planning to return and stay with you again (if you are not all booked out already!).

This property was difficult to find as it has no letterbox and not even a sign. There is no air conditioning, just 2 x ceiling fans which are noisy when trying to sleep at night. The switch for these fans is broken so they are difficult to turn off and on. The cottage has an infestation of ants and runs on solar heating so theres no guarantee of hot water.
The included wifi is faster than the resort and the fridge was stocked with bread, eggs and cold juice which was a nice welcome on a hot day.
Overall its still probably one of the better options on the island outside of Matavai Resort, doesnt have a beach front view but its a central location.
