Stunning location in an over-water Bure, right on the edge of the lagoon. Stairs leading off the Bure deck into the water is something special . Warned not to snorkel in the lagoon due to chance of sharks . We did swim, but didn't venture too far from Bure stairs. Had a very close encounter with a huge turtle whilst swimming - so cool Watch out for see snakes. one got too close fro my liking Accommodation was average /comfortable , except for the horrible super soft pillows . The room could do with some maintenance, ie paint chipped off in places . Cleanliness was ok . Food was average , nothing special and after 6 days we needed a change and looked forward to going home . Venturing on to back of the island is like entering a hurricane. it was so windy , certainly not somewhere you could sit and relax . I guess having 3 wind surf schools on the back of the island is a give away . Staff were lovely and very helpful

If you have the budget this is an amazing place to stay. We stayed in one of the over water bungalows which was just amazing. There are garden bungalows on the island And itself which also appeared well kitted out. This was by far our best stay in New Caledonia. The island itself is quite small but the facilities are superb. Our bungalow had a well appointed lounge room, mini fridge and led out to an outdoor deck with sun lounge ( more on the deck later). Luxurious king size bed, plenty of power points (band even dual usb ports on each side of the bed) - a wardrobe each side of the bed, then into a large bathroom with separate closed off toilet, and dual sinks, a bath and spacious separate shower. On the deck there are set of powered stairs that when lowered go al, the way down into the water - (tip let them down till they go all the way to the bottom for best stability). The main area past reception is a bar, pool area and the l’escapade restaurant. Breakfast buffet is included ( so much food) and dinner and lunch buffets are at a cost but again the choice is amazing and of course drinks are extra. To the left of reception is an activity area to rent watercraft etc and another bar and general public access. Access to the island is by ferry - and this is great value as you can go back and forth as you please from the island to Noumea as part of your room price - bookings to and from are essential however and subject to availability (after 3ish only smaller boats run so space is limited) but great value none the less. When we were there there was a general ban on swimming due to recent shark attacks but this is due to be lifted at the end of December. ( note quite a few people went in regardless and kite surfers were in abundance at one end of the island. Now a tip if you don’t like wildlife this is not the place for you. The island is a nature reserve and everything is protected (even sharks - which we didn’t see any of) there are however turtles (absolutely brilliant) and probably for those with phobias - the tricot raye (sea krait or snake) which particularly enjoyed coming up on our sea stairs onto the deck of our bungalow ( neither my wife or I were troubled by these - i was so happy to see them) - but not everyone was - judging by some screams from nearby bungalows. They are relatively harmless but very curious ( just remember to not leave your stairs down and your doors shut when not about). They have a bit of a look and head back to the water. If you have a garden room and at this time of the year you will have the local shearwater nests ( large burrows dotting the island) who are somewhat noisy of a night - on the over water bungalows the seagulls can also be a little noisy at night. But hey you are in the middle of nature and there are tropical fish everywhere ( and the thrill of seeing turtles and yes even the odd snake swimming about the first time is hard to describe). Pros The accomodation is superb The wildlife The buffet choices The included ferry rides Cons Well i found it hard to come up with any meaningful ones In summary thumbs up for this place and definitely will be staying here in future trips to New Caledonia

Resort was amazing with comfy beds. The only thing needs attention is their food. Very expensive food as if they kept the high price knowing there is no other food restaurant is available(monopoly of big business of hilton). So people have no choice but to eat expensive food. Despite paying that much, the buffet food was terrible. No vegetarian options. So paid $90 nzd for eating plain salad. The resort need to employ atleast few English speaking staff. They don't understand any English and it was very hard to make them understand about our food requirements. Please make sure to arrange and sort food with different options such as vegetarian, vegan and specify what meat is in the food. Very bad experience regarding food and this drawback has overcome the beauty of whole resort. Empty stomach I guess nothing feels good.

The overwater bungalow was amazing!! A must do. We throughly enjoyed our stay with super friendly staff, delicious breakfast with a good selection, strolling the boardwalks and beaches watching sea and land creatures. We had a ferry ride each day to the main land if required, and even got a packed breakfast when we left early for a tour. Everyone was great from ferry crew to water activity hire staff to hotel staff. The only downfall was the dinner smorgasbord, which wasn’t up to the Hilton standard.

Dont be mislead by the bungalows and island vibes A whole range of things . Very mixed feelings Booked last minute - always wanted to stay at this property - but now realize overrated Very expensive Can not fault the staff at all from front desk to bar staff - and to the ship staff and dock staff Firstly no swimming - but thats not ur fault After arriving did a short walk on the island and nearly stepped on a snake (5cm from stepping on) then saw like 5 more snakes in the next minute - you are not told about these snakes at check in or anything - for example there is no piece of paper on the bed in all languages going ALERT poisonous snake on island but not aggressive Everything is just hugely expensive Buffet $$$$, At night - kinda limited - mass food. Even the food is cold - its meant to be a hot buffet - but i know after being ex restaurant manager - hot buffets meant to be maintained certain temp or danger zone - was cold . even in the morning first person to use buffet - hasbrowns cold, eggs cold - Then add the seagulls again not your fault - been to other establishments - that have dogs that chase birds or have a program - they are just crazy and out of control Glasses in room dirty, paper cup for water glasses. Even the shower drain took ages to fully drain - you would shower with your feet submerged We looked at staying in the bungalows but happy we didnt as just didnt see the value when you cant swim

There are some great things about this resort and some not so great. Let's start with the things that could have been better (and I acknowledge some of these I could have made a fuss about at the time and had them remedied but I'm not that precious...) The water glasses in the room were dirty Bring your own milk if you want it for your tea and coffee otherwise its creamer in a sachet (no UHT in the fridge) There are no cups for tea, only small paper cups. Also no teaspoons, just wooden stirrers. One of the power sockets didn't charge properly (dead phone the next morning!) There is no extractor fan in the bathroom. You can open the window, but then everyone can see you, and the bugs will get in. There are no hand towels in the room only face cloths and bath towels. The water didn't drain from the shower tray so you ended up standing in it. There are no signs and nobody warns you that there are sea snakes on the island. Very poisonous but apparently very placid. Would have been good to have had a heads up when we almost stepped on one in the bush! The birds are noisy. They give you ear plugs so you can sleep. You'd think this information would be made available to you before booking. Now... the buffet ... breakfast is included - and it's not bad, but the hot food gets cold very quickly. The seagulls are an absolute pest - take care if you dine outdoors. The dinner buffet costs around $70AUD if you want starter and desert or main and desert or $100AUD for all three - and that's your only option if you want to dine - unless you want room service but the delivery charge is exorbitant in itself. I get that everything in this country is expensive but it wasn't even great. There is a fresh hot plate section where you can choose a meat to be cooked in front of you, but the other options some are tasteless and all semi cold. Now for the good things about the resort: The rooms themselves are great - good sized, comfortable, clean. The island is pristine. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and most of them speak some English which helps when your French is beginner! It's easy to make a reservation on the boat back to the mainland and they are very happy to look after your case on departure there and arrange onward transfers for you. I'm glad I went and stayed there, it's popped up in adverts a lot - but there are other nicer hotels to stay in Noumea.

My trip to Amedee Lighthouse in New Caledonia was nothing short of captivating. The climb rewarded me with breathtaking vistas, and the coral reefs below were a snorkeler's paradise. An absolute must-see for nature enthusiasts

Stayed here in May for 8 nights. Had a few hiccups with housekeeping but that was resolved fairly quickly. Only one restaurant so that limits your variety especially over 8 nights but nonetheless the food was yummy. Pool nice but surprisingly a bit cold. Shame they don’t have solar panels to take the chill off the water. Overwater bungalows are beautiful. Lots of sea life. Will definitely return.
