We stayed for 3 days at Hurakabra and it was exactly what we needed - the sound of the water, the cool breezes, the saki-winki monkeys in the bamboo trees, the quiet time and adventure too. The food was incredible; wish I could have Dolly & Annie's cook-up rice and pepperpot, the butterfish and Mike's shish-kebabs.right now. I don't know...

I came here with my family and friends as part of a day excursion. This place is great! They have jetski's and areas to lounge out and relax in the sun. The food the served was excellent and the staff was wonderful. I wish we could of have stayed longer! Hoping to go back in the future. This is a...

My husband and I and our two kids booked a few nights at the Hurakabra River Resort. From inception the service was excellent. We went to the office to make our bookings and we were greeted by friendly staff and the owner. Pick up time was prompt, all staff was very professional, the boat was comfortable and meals were delicious...

Ms. Gem, her boat captain Mike, and her team at the Hurakabra Resort made our family outing extra special from start to finish! Our day adventure began with a guided tour of Fort Island, and then we continued the speed boat journey up the Essequibo River to the resort. At the resort the kids enjoyed playing darts, table tennis, the...

This was definitely a retreat I will always cherish. My boyfriend, a wonderful man, full of surprises, decided to surprise me with this trip! Boy was I surprised! I had an idea that the resort existed but I wasn't aware that one day I would actually visit it and that it would create such beautiful memories for me. The resort...

Now I certainly didn't know what I was getting myself into when I planned this trip only 15 days in advance, and considering I'm living in the United States I had the slightest clue that resorts like this exist; but, It was highly recommended by a dear friend of mine, Nicole - Canadian Trade Commissioner, and I've been longer to...

I'm of Guyanese heritage. I left as a kid and had never really seen much else outside of the capital, Georgetown, where I grew up. Recently, I was back touring my one-woman show. I was invited to spend a weekend at Hurakabra before heading back to New York. A weekend get away sounded like a much needed break... I said...

Tucked in a corner of the Essequibo River is this hidden gem of a resort. My 22 year son and I spent a night there not knowing what to expect. We were met in Bartica by chef Ajay. He took us to the market to select fresh fruits, vegetables, fish etc,. He prepared and presented the delicious meals with a...

I was fortunate to spend four days at Hurakabra Resort in early August of this year. I went there with my husband and two children (17, & 12). I had done quite some research before finally deciding on Hurakabra. After many emails and tedious questions to Gem, I decided to book it. Gem was amazing at putting my mind at...

I visited Hurakabra with my husband, two children and brother and sister in law. It was one of our BEST family vacations! I would recommend the resort to anyone who has a little adventure in them and would like to experience the beauty and tranquility of Guyana. Our hosts, Gem and Kit Nascimento met us with their cabin cruiser at...
